It’s time to give the wheel a final spin. Pat Sajak is signing off as host of Wheel of Fortune after more than 40 years on the show.
Sajak’s last episode airs on Friday, June 7. The TV icon announced his decision to retire last year. Now that the time has come to say goodbye, he’s reflecting on his legacy.
“It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes, night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” he said in a farewell video (via Deadline). “And I always felt that the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe place for family fun. No social issues. No politics. Nothing embarrassing, I hope. Just a game. But gradually it became more than that … Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

On the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Genesis", the eternally nervous Lieutenant Reginald Barclay (Dwight Schultz) goes to sickbay insisting he has Terellian Death Syndrome. Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden), finding it's a mild flu, injects him with a synthetic T-cell, activating a gene that would provide him with immunities. Unwittingly, Dr. Crusher also activates every dormant gene in Barclay's body, causing ancient, pre-evolutionary "memory" genes to activate and forcing Barclay to change species. Barclay suddenly evolves into a spider. It spreads, naturally. Nurse Ogawa (Patti Yasutake) evolves into an ape. Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) evolves into a protohuman. Data (Brent Spiner) evolves into a 1980 Commodore Vic-20.
That last one was a little joke. Data is fine.
"Genesis" has a lot of great makeup effects (by the show's hardworking makeup technician Michael Westmore), but the premise is a little silly, even for "Star Trek." Then again, the science in...

During its first three seasons on NBC, Stephen J. Cannell's "The A-Team" was one of the most popular shows on television. Critics dismissed it as mindless trash, but its 1983 premiere perfectly captured the gung-ho Reagan-era zeitgeist. The idea of a crack commando unit on the run from a government that did them dirty in the Vietnam War played to the country's bitterness over the mistreatment of veterans. Many Americans wanted to see the American military kick butt again, and what better way to scratch that itch than to build a series around a group of wrongly disgraced heroes?
The challenge for Cannell was satisfying his audience's bloodlust while observing the network's mandate that, due to its family-friendly 8 Pm timeslot, the good guys couldn't kill anybody. Could they fire off loads of cool-looking firearms or turn a bamboo into a bazooka? Absolutely! They just had to make sure their...

Lieutenant Reginald Barclay was an outlier among "Star Trek" characters. First appearing in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Hollow Pursuits", Barclay was a timid fellow, unable to converse with his co-workers and always late for his shifts in engineering. He was occasionally able to offer unique and helpful insights to engineering problems, but no one liked working with him because he was so awkward. Barclay found solace on the Enterprise's holodeck, where he recreated holographic versions of his co-workers that he could dominate or romance without consequences. When Counselor Troi (Marina Sirtis) discovered Barclay's proclivities -- including a sexualized holographic recreation of herself -- she informed the lieutenant that he might have some deep-seated issues that they weren't addressing in his therapy.
Barclay was an outlier because he wasn't bushy-tailed and capable all the time. Most characters on "Star Trek" have an impressive set of starship-operation skills or...

"In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire ... the A-Team."
So ran the narration at the beginning of the title sequence for the 1983 TV series "The A-Team." The "if you can find them" part always elicited titters from certain younger viewers, as the A-Team's devotion to helping people out as soldiers of fortune clearly didn't extend to being easy to reach. The A-Team was composed of five members, including the leader Hannibal (George Peppard), the charming Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Dirk Benedict), the zany "Howling Mad" Murdoch (Dwight Schultz), and their black Gmc Vandura van.

It's been nearly forty years, but people still remember "The A-Team." The action adventure series went on for five seasons, but stuck around in the public consciousness for much, much longer. People still remember the theme song, the cartoonish violence, the catchphrases. But although many viewers throughout the 2000s wanted a revival of the show, the TV series itself never came back.
Instead, we got a feature film in 2010 starring an updated A-Team, with the characters being veterans of the Iraq War instead of veterans of Vietnam. The film underperformed at the box office, however, and they never made a sequel. Unlike "21 Jump Street," a franchise where the later movies have now long-since overshadowed the TV show for most younger viewers, when people of all ages today think of "The A-Team," they're still almost certainly thinking of the show.
So what have the cast members been up to since...

America had just crawled out from under its Vietnam hangover when Stephen J. Cannell's "The A-Team" blasted its way into the country's living rooms on January 23, 1983. NBC did not have high expectations for the show, but when the second episode -- which aired after Super Bowl Xvii (the one where Washington's John Riggins rushed with shocking impunity against Miami's defense) -- scored sky-high ratings, the network realized it had a hit on its hands.
It was the right show for a weird moment in American history. The country had gone gung-ho. We were at the advent of the '80s action hero era, and everyone was flocking to bloody, high-caliber entertainments starring the likes of Charles Bronson, Chuck Norris, and Sylvester Stallone. Meanwhile, the pulpy adventures of Don Pendleton's Mack Bolan were flying off drug store bookshelves. There was an acute interest in vigilante justice, but people were...

The 1980s were a junky era for film and television. Once the studios and networks figured out what kinds of formulas American audiences were keen on after Vietnam, Watergate, and the election of Ronald Reagan reshaped the country's psyche, they exploited them relentlessly. One particularly reliable genre of sorts was the gung-ho, men-on-a-mission actioner where outnumbered, yet armed-to-the-teeth heroes resourcefully defeated equally well-armed bad guys.
When these projects were made for the big screen, studios piled on the red meat. Scads of folks got shot, stabbed, and blown up, and the directors didn't skimp on the viscera. These were the hardest of the hard R-rated movies of the decade, and they made heaps of money.
At a network level, television was still cinema's less-appreciated little brother in the 1980s. Sitcoms were king, while hour-long dramas tended toward soapiness or murder-of-the-week mysteries. There were very fine shows that worked within these parameters,...

Fans of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" always got a little giddy when Brannon Braga's name appeared in an episode's writing credits. Braga became a staff writer on Tng in its fourth season, right when the show was getting great. Braga was often the one responsible for the weirder, more psychedelic episodes of the show, starting with "Identity Crisis," a 1991 episode wherein Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) transformed into an invisible alien.
Braga proceeded to write the episode wherein multiple clones of Data (Brent Spiner) took over an Old West town. He wrote the episode wherein the Enterprise was caught in a time loop and didn't notice until several go-throughs of being destroyed. He wrote the one where Riker (Jonathan Frakes) woke up in an alien asylum, convinced the Enterprise was a hallucination. He wrote the one where Barclay (Dwight Schultz) devolved into a spider and the one where Data started having nightmares.

After Mr. T found unexpected overnight success thanks to his scene-stealing performance in Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky III, television was quick to come calling, looking to capitalize. And it did in a big way with The A-Team, a tongue-in-cheek action show about a team of mercenaries trying to clear their names. Mr. T and his co-stars, including George Peppard, Dwight Shultz and Dirk Benedict, played by their own rules, both on-camera and off, and Mr. T told us that their rebellious nature is what he’ll always remember most about making the show. One of the most iconic shows of the 1980s was, without a doubt, The A-Team. Starring screen veteran George Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schultz, and the legendary Mr. T, the show premiered in January 1983 and became a pop culture phenomenon. It helped that the show came out hot on the heels of Rocky III, with Mr. T already in the zeitgeist for playing the unforgettable villain, Clubber Lang. Here, as B.A. Baracus, T would adopt a much more family-friendly persona. While he was the breakout star, audiences also loved Peppard as Hannibal, the wannabe actor mastermind, Benedict as Faceman, the ladies’ man, and Schultz as Murdock, the crazy one. The story of an underground crew of Nam vets who are framed for a crime they didn’t commit, the show ran for five seasons before slipping out of fashion towards the end of the decade when the mix of...

If Hollywood is good at anything it’s seeing what hits big at the box office and then churning out a hundred clones of that product until it gets driven into the ground. We see it all the time. One such incident came around the release of the 1978 film Halloween. Once it began to rack up box office numbers everyone scrambled to put out their own slasher film, preferably built around a holiday. This led to a glut of slasher films, which if you’re a slasher fan like myself was a fantastic time to be alive. Let’s look at the best Halloween rip-offs.
Offerings (1989)
This might be the most egregious rip-off Halloween there could be. A young kid accidentally falls down a well while playing with a group of kids. Some of them scare him as he’s walking along the edge, and he hits his head.

There was a time when it seemed like Cillian Murphy was destined for movie superstardom. The Irish actor was mesmerizing in early-2000s films like "28 Days Later," "Batman Begins," "Red Eye" and "Breakfast on Pluto." But while he's remained busy over the years, Hollywood just couldn't figure out what to do with him, so he wound up bouncing from leads to supporting roles for a bit until he found a role that fit him like a tweed suit in Tommy Shelby, the crime boss of "Peaky Blinders."

When people described the cast of characters on The A-Team back in the ’80s, the word “ragtag” was thrown around quite a bit, reflecting the bizarrely diverse personalities of the four lead roles. As different as the characters were, though, the actors who played them — George Pappard, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Shultz, and Mr. T — were all on the same page. Speaking at a fan event, Benedict said the chemistry between the cast members was both extraordinary and immediate, as they all found different ways to bond with each other.(Click on the media bar below to hear Dirk Benedict) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Dirk_Benedic_At_Team-Cast_.mp3

No bad attitude here! The A-Team is back on the air. It’s been 35 years since the explosive action series — about four Special Forces soldiers framed for a crime who, after breaking out of military prison, become soldiers of fortune — signed off on NBC. But there’s no keeping this team down: MeTV kicked off its “Summer of Me” with a marathon of fan-favorite missions, and on Monday, the series settles into its weekdays-at-6/5c time-slot, beginning with the pilot, which features a not-so-familiar Face: Tim Dunigan as Templeton “Face” Peck. Dunigan was, of course, subsequently replaced by star Dirk Benedict; rounding out the cast: Mr. T (above) as B.A. (“Bad Attitude”) Baracus, George Peppard as John “Hannibal” Smith, and Dwight Schultz as “Howling Mad” Murdock. Breakneck pacing, classic ’80s frenetic plot points and five-minute gunfights/chases defined this iconic drama for five seasons. We pity the fool who doesn’t love it.

Christopher Nolan has had discussions with several major studios about his next film, revolving around J. Robert Oppenheimer and his involvement developing the atom bomb during World War II.
While Nolan’s last few films were all at Warner Bros., the director was not pleased when WarnerMedia made the decision to put its entire 2021 slate on HBOMax. Nolan’s most recent film, “Tenet,” was not part of that move — it received an exclusive theatrical run.
His new film would be a return to the history of the second World War after “Dunkirk,” but set in America this time. “Tenet,” was released in theaters in the middle of the pandemic when moviegoers were still cautious and the vaccine was not available. It grossed a solid $363 million, but the feeling was that it would normally have been a much higher result in non-pandemic times. After “Tenet,” Nolan had been in discussions with...

Oh Hollywood. Always chasing trends, trying to stay ahead of the curve, sometimes just trying to keep up. It certainly appeared that way when slashers brought in big money by the early ‘80s; all the big studios rushed to get out similarly themed movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th for their share of the perceived pie. And some, like the wrongheaded yet fun The Fan (1981), decide to make a classy ‘psychological thriller’ and then add bloodshed to bring home those duckets. Surely it must have worked with the horror crowd, right?
Wrong. The Fan certainly had none of its own when released, and the best from critics was it was a tepid rehash of other psychotic stalkers. Well, it is that, but it also offers a fascinating look at the Hollywood money-making machinery sputtering when faced with tough decisions, and a solid precursor to the ‘Incel’ character we’ve...

Some of the most beloved shows in TV history feature members of the military. You might remember Hawkeye Pierce and Radar O’Reilly from “M*A*S*H,” the breakout star of the “Andy Griffith Show,” Gomer Pyle, whose spinoff “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” ran for five years.
Mr. T shot to fame in the early ’80s by playing a veteran in “The A-Team as B.A. Baracus. Younger audiences may remember seeing pop-star Jesse McCartney in the final season of “Army Wives” — and fans of “The Office” can catch one of John Krasinski’s latest roles as the title character in “Jack Ryan.”
With Veteran’s Day taking place this Monday, here’s a list of military-themed TV shows to binge to in honor of our veterans.
“Hogan’s Heroes”
This sitcom aired from 1965 from 1971, and was set in a German Prisoner of War (Pow) camp in WWII. It followed Colonel Robert E.

Porn addiction is a real problem in the 21st century, and, as it turns out, in the 25th century, too.
This The Orville review contains spoilers.
The Orville Season 2 Episode 2
The second season of The Orville is already weirdly focused on what Bortus is doing when he’s not performing his duties. Last week, he had to take a giant piss, and this week, he’s struggling with his addiction to the simulation room.
Because the ship is observing a solar system which is about to be engulfed by its sun, the setup of “Primal Urges” vaguely references the original Star Trek episode, “All Our Yesterdays,” in which the Enterprise was trying to get people off the planet Sarpeidon. But the similarity to any classic Trek episode ends there. Instead, this one is all about the dangers of losing yourself in holographic fakery that becomes The Orville version of porn addiction.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have revealed the next animated movie in the Lego DC Super Heroes franchise, The Flash, which is set for release next year – which is also set to introduce a plethora of new DC characters to the series, including some famous superhero pets!
In Lego DC Super Heroes: The Flash, Reverse-Flash manipulates the Speed Force to put The Flash into a time loop that forces him to relive the same day over and over again – with progressively disastrous results, including losing his powers and being fired by the Justice League. The Flash must find a way to restore time to its original path and finally apprehend his worst enemy before all is lost for The Flash … and the world!
Along the route, The Flash encounters numerous new characters being introduced to the popular DC Super Heroes series, including The Atom; B’dg, a squirrel-esque Green Lantern; a...

With a hit CW series and a recent appearance in the Justice League‘s first silver screen outing now under his belt, one could say that everything’s coming up Flash. In fact, not only is the Flashpoint movie said to be still in some phase of production, but the Scarlet Speedster will soon headline an animated flick in the form of Lego DC Super Heroes: The Flash.
Now, it should be noted that much like his aforementioned solo movie or the animated film that was based on the very same source material, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, the next direct-to-video Lego offering won’t afford Barry Allen the luxury of starring in a motion picture entirely free of his heroic cohorts. But the fact that Warner Bros. are allowing him to be the central focus is still nothing to shake Weather Wizard’s wand at.

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

Remember when Sarah Silverman was in Star Trek: Voyager? We salute that and 9 other ace guest turns in the show...
Star Trek: Voyager does not share the good reputation of its predecessors The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, with some fans disappointed that the inherent conflict between Starfleet and Maquis characters was not explored further, others perhaps put off by the really rather dull and occasionally ridiculous second season. However, Voyager was as capable as any other Star Trek series of producing memorable stories and excellent performances, and for those of us for whom it is our favourite branch of the Star Trek franchise (yes, we do exist) it is worth celebrating some of the things it did really well – in this case, the actors and actresses who came to join the show for guest performances.

“There are no crazy people, doctor; we’re all just on vacation.”
Jack Sholder’s Alone in the Dark (1982) builds its whole premise around this quote, a fun, underloved and winkingly perverse little beaut from the burgeoning minds at New Line Cinema, two years before Freddy stepped out of the shadows - and right around the time slashers were retreating into them.
Released in North America in November, Aitd was one of New Line’s first forays into film production, focusing on distribution only, up until the mid 70’s. Some decent notices were not enough to put audiences in seats, and that’s just cuckoo – Aitd succeeds in melding a couple of sub genres (slasher & siege) with a dollop of pop psychology guaranteed to etch a smile onto even the most disordered horror lover’s face.

Barclay! Super-brains! Walks around the arboretum! Here's our latest look-back at Star Trek: The Next Generation season four...
This review contains spoilers.
4.19 Nth Degree
The episode opens as Lt. Reg Barclay and Dr. Crusher perform some AmDram in front of the crew, whose enlightened 24th Century dispositions allow them to appreciate even the most stilted and awkward performance. And that’s just from the D-list ensigns they have to shove into every episode now that Wesley’s gone. Everyone congratulates Barclay’s progress even though he’s terrible, and Data even learns a pithy lesson about being polite (and with that box ticked, he basically disappears for the rest of the episode.)
Barclay still isn’t feeling confident, but is happy when Geordi picks him to go on a mission to examine a probe that has disabled the Argus Array, a subspace telescope that has been disabled and needs to be fixed.

A new version of “The A-Team” is in the works at 20th Century Fox Television, TheWrap has learned. The remake series would follow a team of American special operatives, but in the modernized take on the material, would feature both men and women on the team. Albert Kim set to write the script and original “A-Team” creator Stephen J. Cannell‘s daughter Tawnia McKiernan, a TV director, is also on board. 'The Beginning or the End' 1947 with Robert Walker and Tom Drake. Hiroshima bombing 70th anniversary: Six movies dealing with the A-bomb terror Seventy years ago, on Aug. 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima. Ultimately, anywhere between 70,000 and 140,000 people died – in addition to dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and most other living beings in that part of the world. Three days later, America dropped a second atomic bomb, this time over Nagasaki. Human deaths in this other city totaled anywhere between 40,000-80,000. For obvious reasons, the evisceration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has been a quasi-taboo in American films. After all, in the last 75 years Hollywood's World War II movies, from John Farrow's Wake Island (1942) and Mervyn LeRoy's Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944) to Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor (2001), almost invariably have presented a clear-cut vision...

When rebooting an old television show for the silver screen, it has become tradition in Hollywood to try and find some way to include the original stars. We have seen it happen time and time again, from Johnny Depp and various others showing up in 21 Jump Street to Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz showing up in The A-Team. Now that a Power Rangers reboot is on the way, most of us probably assumed that cameos from the original cast were a possibility, but now one of the stars has come forward and admitted that he will be in the film. Jason David Frank, who many of you may remember as Tommy Oliver a.k.a. the Green/White Ranger on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has revealed that he has already been having conversations with the people behind the new Power Rangers movie and that he will, at the...

James looks back at one of season three's best Star Trek Tng episodes, introducing hapless Lieutenant Barclay...
This review contains spoilers.
3.21 Hollow Pursuits
The episode opens in Ten-Forward, where a character we've never seen before – Lieutenant Reginald Barclay – is causing a scene. He beats up La Forge, then Riker, then is about to sweep Troi off her feet when he's interrupted and called to the cargo bay by… La Forge! Turns out he's actually on the holodeck. Like M. Night Shyamalan if he directed an episode of The Twilight Zone, you did not see it coming.
When Barclay gets to the cargo bay he's given a dressing down by Riker and La Forge for his lateness and generally neglectful behaviour. They lament how such a loser managed to make it onto the Enterprise anyway. Although a better question might be how he made it to Lieutenant when he's basically incompetent.

(Cbr) TV Urban Legend: B.A. Baracus never actually said “I pity the fool” on The A-Team. "The A-Team" was a fascinating hit TV series in that it was absurd even for the era in which it aired (1983-1987). The cartoon violence on the program was evident when, in the first episode, a jeep carrying soldiers pursuing the team flips over spectacularly and crashes (it’s an impressive enough shot that it was used in the opening credits for pretty much the entire run). Voiceovers, of course, quickly assure viewers that both the driver and passenger were fine after the crash. That was "The A-Team" in a nutshell: spectacular violence but people almost never actually got hurt, despite the A-Team’s extensive use of explosives and automatic weapons. "The A-Team" was about a team of soldiers who were wrongly convicted of a crime they didn’t commit in the...

On the Today show this morning, what began as a harmless discussion with Welsh actor Matthew Rhys about how he learned to mimic American accents by watching U.S. television shows quickly escalated into unmitigated ’80s pop-culture joy when he began reciting the spoken-word opening credits to The A-Team verbatim. But like the wrongly accused crack commando unit from the George Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schultz, and Mr. T vehicle in question (and I don’t mean their bitchin’ Gmc van), The Americans stud doesn’t take on a mission alone. Clearly, Al Roker and Matthew Rhys love it when a plan comes together.

The Super Bowl is usually the highest-rated single television broadcast of the year, so the post time slot is probably the most coveted in TV because of the massive lead-in audience (upwards of 100 million viewers). But if the program that airs right afterwards typically draws big ratings, why don’t networks take advantage of this and premiere the pilot of a new series? Wouldn’t this be the best way to promote a show you think will be a huge hit? It would seem like a no-brainer, but in fact, that strategy isn’t always bulletproof. More often than not, a pilot for a new series won’t bring in the same high ratings as a special episode of an established series. Once the Big Game is over, most viewers will go ahead and switch the channel. Unless your a fan of the winning team, and care to sit through the post-game wrap up,...

I find myself writing about Star Trek: The Next Generation Season Three more than any single season of any season from any franchise. And that’s fine by me given the quantum leap in quality improvement from the previous two seasons. I am happy to do it one more time as the Blu-ray set from Paramount Home Entertainment is due to arrive on Tuesday.
The behind-the-scenes turmoil that led to the first two seasons feeling incredibly inconsistent began to fade with the arrival of a new set of writers and producers. As Gene Roddenberry grew frailer and ceded more day-to-day control to producer Rick Berman, the show also bid farewell to the exhausted head writer Maurice Hurley. He was briefly replaced by Michael Wagner but illness forced him to leave after just four episodes, but his recommended replacement, Michael Piller, proved to be the turning point in the show’s fortunes.

It has become something of a tradition in the world of Hollywood movie rebooting to feature little winks to the original versions by way of short central actor cameos. For some reason or another, the appearance of an older but familiar face within a franchise does tend give a project some credibility or at least a twinge of self-awareness. Thanks to this new set photo from the Vancouver shoot for "Godzilla," we can now know that director Gareth Edwards' upcoming "Godzilla" remake is following suit by including the original film's actor Akira Takarada.
Takarada starred as a diver named Hideto Ogata in the 1954 version, his first film, and then went on to appear in several "Godzilla" follow-ups — including 1956's sequel "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!," 1964's "Mothra vs. Godzilla," the 1966 film "Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster," 1977's "Godzilla" reboot and 2004's "Godzilla: Final Wars." He hasn't been seen since channeling the (still living) spirit of Dwight Schultz as Murdock in A-Team, but South African actor Sharlto Copley, who made quite an impression as the lead in District 9, will be lighting up the screen again, signing up as the bad guy in Spike Lee's remake of South Korean film Oldboy, the second part in The Vengence Trilogy. The story follows a man who, after 15 years of being trapped in a hotel room against his will, embarks on a bloody quest for revenge. Copley will play Adrian Pryce, a mysterious billionaire out to destroy the life of Joe Douchett (Josh Brolin), beating Colin Firth, Christian Bale, and Clive Owen to the role. I was ready to hate this remake when I first heard of it, but with Lee, Brolin, and now Copley involved, I am now very, very intrigued about this. Filming begins in September.

As you might imagine, studios are combing their libraries to find related items to reissue to tie in with the frenzy surrounding the May 3 opening of The Avengers. Coming Tuesday are two more discs that come closest to the feature film, a sextet of Marvel Animation films in two sets. Making their Blu-ray debut, the first set is Ultimate Avengers Movie Collection which contains the two animated films based on the successful Ultimates comic, along with the bonus film Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. The other Blu-ray set is merely dubbed Marvel Animated Features and contains Planet Hulk, Invincible Iron Man, and Doctor Strange.
Both Ultimate films pretty closely follow the initial Ultimates arcs from Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch although the script is better at aping Millar than the animation is following Hitch’s naturalistic style. A significant change is that Tony Stark’s identity remains a secret and...

Before it was known as the house that Freddy built, New Line Cinema released their very first motion picture – and slasher film – Alone in the dark, an odd, intelligent and little known entry into the genre.
The film opens with a perplexing dream sequence in which a man enters a diner and orders some dinner. This great little scene establishes mood and features excellent use colours, lighting the sequence with the glow of a deep red and green. Suddenly, the dream warps into a nightmare, and the seemingly pleasant staff of the diner morphs into something alien and sinister and advances towards the man wielding some mean-looking cutlery. Then the man awakes screaming and it’s revealed he’s a patient in a mental institution. Intrigued? You should be.

When writer-director Joe Carnahan's adaptation of the beloved '80s TV show "The A-Team" hit theaters this summer, it seemed poised for blockbuster awesomeness. It had a built-in fanbase, a talented director and a spot-on cast -- Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper (pictured) as Faceman, Ufc fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. and "District 9" star Sharlto Copley as "Howling Mad" Murdock. But for some reason it failed to find a blockbuster-sized auidence.
When Carnahan called up MTV to chat about the movie's release on DVD and Blu-ray (it hit stores December 14), he talked about why he thinks it didn't connect with audiences in theaters, dished on the Blu-ray's extended director's cut and revealed his thoughts on an "A-Team" sequel. He also spilled the beans on his "'Jaws'-like' next film "The Grey," which stars Liam Neeson as the leader of a group of oil drillers being hunted by wolves in the Arctic.

Sharlto Copley is a South African actor best known for his role as Wikus van de Merwe—the man tasked with relocating angry alien prawns in the Oscar-nominated sci-fi sensation “District 9.” Recently, Copley jumped at the chance to play loony helicopter pilot H.M. Murdock in the big-screen adaptation of “The A-Team,” which comes out on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
We sat down with Copley and chatted to the friendly, fast-talking actor about growing up with “The A-Team” TV show, why he almost made original Murdock actor Dwight Schultz cry, and what the least manly thing this star of a red-meat action film has done lately.

Like many fans of Stephen J. Cannell’s original 80’s series, I was up in arms when the A-Team remake was announced, if anything you could say I hated it when this plan came together. However something happened on the way to the big screen – Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan actually managed to pull together a superb cast for the film… Liam Neeson (who is a particular revelation – who knew he had this role in him?), Bradley Cooper, and man-of-the-moment Sharlto Copley fresh off the success of District 9; then throw in a ridiculous Ott plot and massive stunt set pieces and you have the epitome of the summer action blockbuster – and all without the able assistance of one Mr. Michael Bay!

I have to admit, when I heard that a new A-Team movie was being made, I was rather dubious. This is a TV series that I had grown up with and along with The Dukes of Hazard and Knight Rider and the memories of all three should not be touched! It’s revival caused quite a lot of controversy on various movie blogs but how did the final product come out?
The A-Team stars Liam Neeson (Hannibal Smith), Bradley Cooper (Templeton Peck aka Face), Sharlto Copley (Murdock) and Rampage Jackson (BA) in roles that had been made famous by Mr. T, Dwight Schultz, Dirk Benedict and the late George Peppard. I guess the main question is would George Peppard turn in his grave watching the movie? Well, I’d like to think not alhough history tells us he was rather hard to please!
