Many musicians rely on their labels to manage videos on platforms like YouTube, but Alan Walker is taking a different approach. The 20-year-old DJ, who hails from Bergen, Norway, has joined United Screens, the Stockholm-based McN known for its work with Nordic creators.
In 2015, Walker emerged as a rising star in the Edm world when he released "Faded," his most popular song to date. Its accompanying music video has been viewed more than 1.2 billion times and has attracted Walker's fans to his YouTube channel. He currently counts more than three million subscribers, and his videos have received close to three billion YouTube views in all.
By inking a deal with a traditional McN, Walker will be able to better control the distribution of his music on YouTube. A press release from United Screens states that Walker owes much of his success to the use of his music within the online video gaming community.

After releasing a number of impressive remixes throughout the summer for songs like Cash Cash‘s “Millionaire” with Nelly and Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend,” Alan Walker is back to offer up his latest original single. Titled “Alone,” the new song sees the producer teaming up with Swedish singer and former Avicii collaborator Noonie Bao as the two deliver a pop oriented dance cut.
On “Alone,” Alan Walker crafts a unique production that showcases Bao’s angelic vocals. The song opens with an atmospheric chord progression, picking up speed as filter swept synth plucks and rising percussion work the energy upwards. The drops feature an uplifting sound, as offbeat synth stabs bounce around four on the floor drums, creating an enticing rhythm as airy vocals fill the speakers.

Update: The full list has been revealed and can be seen below.
Original Post: With the Amsterdam Dance Event now underway, it’s time for the DJ Mag Top 100 to be revealed. As much of a joke as the list has become lately, we all still look forward to it each and every year and though it doesn’t hold too much legitimacy in the eyes of true dance music fans, it’s always interesting to see who ends up coming out on top.
Leaks and rumors have pointed to Martin Garrix emerging as #1 for 2016, something which would certainly make sense given the huge year he’s had. Not to mention he’s also been releasing new tracks left, right and centre this week. With the awards show now streaming live from the Heineken Music Hall, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we figure out whether or not...

Following up on a number of top notch remixes over the summer for Marshmello’s “Alone” and Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend,” Alan Walker is back with a new rework of Cash Cash’s single with Digital Farm Animals and Nelly, “Millionaire.” The song was originally heard back in June ahead of the release of Blood, Sweat and Three Years, and now the “Faded” producer has delivered a jubilant flip of the tune.
For his remix, Alan Walker ups the ante on the lighthearted sound of “Millionaire.” The new rework opens with the familiar chord progression and chanted vocal hook, shortly joined by Nelly’s rapping. Things stay relatively the same through the verse, before moving into horn driven drops that take the summery vibes to the next level.
Alan Walker is a producer who knows his way around a remix and his take on “Millionaire” does not disappoint.

When he’s not busy teasing the man beneath the helmet, Marshmello can generally be relied on for a steady steam of top notch originals and remixes. This week the mellogang leader has delivered a new flip on Alan Walker’s “Sing Me To Sleep,” infusing his signature future bass style into the song.
Marshmello’s “Singe Me To Sleep” remix opens with some deep bass notes beneath the vocal track from the original. The dark intro is suddenly contrasted by some funky synth work that leads into the drops, which consist of stuttered rhythms and chopped up vocal samples. Marshmello’s flip differs pretty substantially from the original version, offering up a re-imagining of the source material infused with his trademark sounds.
Marshmello tends to drop solid remixes when he’s not releasing his own productions, and “Sing Me To Sleep” is no exception. Now if he and Skrillex...

UK producer Alan Walker unveiled a new remix this week of Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend,” delivering a forward thinking re-imagining of the recently released single.
Walker’s remix picks up the pace a bit from the original Coldplay effort, taking the song into more dance friendly territory. Chris Martin’s echoey vocals are juxtaposed over a stark chord proggression, before a catchy synth part starts to form an enticing rhythm. Moving into the memorable chorus, the new version of “Hymn” really gets going with pleasing synth melodies and a steady four on the floor beat offset by huge tom rolls.
The new remix of “Hymn For The Weekend” isn’t a major departure from the original, with the producer opting to transport Chris Martin’s acapella onto a new backing track, but the newly added electronic elements mesh well with the original song, transforming Coldplay’s single into...

As per usual, Hardwell‘s been a releasing machine so far in 2016. After teaming up with Portuguese progressive house artist Kura on last week’s “Calavera,” he’s already put out a remix of Alan Walker’s late 2015 release, “Faded.”
As can be expected, Hardwell’s remix of “Faded” follows a markedly higher tempo than the original. A festival-friendly hoover synth stack melody at the drop fits it for the main stage, but Iselin Solheim’s melancholy vocals remains front and center.
While the remix isn’t likely to shake the electronic music world to its core by challenging everything we know about what a song can be, it’s actually more engaging than a lot of what Hardwell puts out. It won’t take a lot for the remix to find its way into countless DJ sets over the course of festival season.
