Young Sheldon boss Steve Holland would like to use this opportunity to address the fate of Paige Swanson (and debunk all of your tragic theories about her absence in The Big Bang Theory).
Mckenna Grace’s character, a fellow child prodigy, was introduced early in Season 2 of the prequel series and served as Sheldon’s chief rival at East Texas Tech. Aside from Tam, who crossed over to Big Bang, she was the closest thing that Sheldon had to a friend, and remained an acquaintance for many years, eventually befriending Sheldon’s twin sister Missy.

While Bridgerton is first and foremost a love story, the relationship between the siblings and their mother plays a very important role in each season. And although viewers have only seen the first 4 episodes of season 3, it is already apparent that the family bond plays a major role in the way each Bridgerton views the world.
Two characters who offer the most support and parental advice are Violet Bridgerton, the matriarch of the family, and her older son Anthony, who had to step into the role of viscount and find the strength to raise his siblings at the age of 18. However, there was another sibling who could have provided a lot of insight throughout the series, but has yet to appear.
Daphne Bridgerton, who is missing from season 3, is one of the show's weakest links.

Phoebe Dynevor is in talks to star in an untitled shark thriller at Sony Pictures with Tommy Wirkola (“Violent Night”) directing, Variety has confirmed.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, production is set to begin in Australia this summer. Adam McKay and Kevin Messick will produce the shark movie under their Hyperobject Industries banner.
Dynevor is best known for her role as Daphne Bridgerton in the first two seasons of the Netflix series “Bridgerton.” She recently starred opposite Alden Ehrenreich in the 2023 thriller “Fair Play,” which sold to Netflix in a massive $20 million deal following the film’s premiere at Sundance Film Festival.
In late April, Variety exclusively reported that Dynevor and Bella Ramsey star in the new short film “More Flames,” from McKay‘s Yellow Dot Studios and Climate Spring; the short marks the launch of the #FlipTheScript campaign aimed at changing the narrative around the climate crisis.

By now, you should know exactly who you're gonna call. The fifth installment of the ghost-busting franchise arrived earlier this year, courtesy of director Gil Kenan, with "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire." Although not as much of a forward-looking sequel as many fans wanted it to be, the nostalgia-bound film picked up where "Afterlife" left off and reunited new additions Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Mckenna Grace (along with newcomer comedians Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt) with the original cast of the 1984 classic that started it all: Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson. At least in terms of the box office, the results were rather mixed and only time will tell if pivoting this series away from raunchy, irreverent comedy towards a more family-friendly demographic will ultimately pay off.
But even as "Frozen Empire" remains in theaters, fans now...

British-American filmmaker Gil Kenan, who has directed ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’, has said that the ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise changed his life as a kid with its unique blend of horror and comedy.

Forty years after the world was first introduced to the iconic paranormal investigation and extermination group, the busters are back in ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.’ This time, the evil they face is much darker than the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man — it’s an ancient demonic god named Garraka. The film opens with a good-old-fashioned high speed ghost chase through New York City, a scene that almost seems taken out of a Universal Studios 3D ride. The audience is reintroduced to Callie Spengler (Carrie Coon), daughter of the late original ghostbuster Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis). She’s taken over her father’s business saving the city and is joined by her boyfriend, Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), and her two kids Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (McKenna Grace). You’ve got questions and Emily Alyn Lind has answers.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, when Mckenna Grace’s Phoebe Spengler was sidelined by the Ghostbusters’ longtime bureaucratic nemesis, Walter Peck (William Atherton), the young Ghostbusting hero went on an unexpected journey that quickly introduced her to Lind’s surprise character, Melody.
Melody was nowhere to be found in the marketing for the film, but as soon as she’s introduced opposite Phoebe during a park-based chess match, it becomes clear why director Gil Kenan and Sony played their cards close to their vest. Melody is not only a ghost in the form of a 16-year-old girl, but she also interacts with Phoebe on a very human and relatable level. In other words, she’s a far cry from the typical apparitions that the franchise has offered up, and she further expands on how Ghost Egon was utilized in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021).

I’ll start with an important disclaimer for all readers since the following hot take will inevitably trigger strong reactions. As someone from a small European country and born in 1994, Ghostbusters (1984) was never a defining classic of my childhood or adolescence, so I don’t feel the nostalgia that many others have for the original film, although I do enjoy it. That said, I (re)watched it, along with Ghostbusters II and Ghostbusters: Afterlife this week in preparation for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and – here it comes – I consider the 2021 sequel my favorite movie in the famous franchise. In fact, comparing it directly with the original – here it comes again – beyond the inevitable audiovisual improvements, I find Afterlife to have better humor, characters, and cast.

Forty years later, it’s safe to say Sony and one of its most beloved film titles still ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost. They also apparently need not fear curmudgeonly film reviews either based on the solid performance of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire over last weekend’s box office.
Despite receiving a tepid Rotten Tomatoes aggregate score of 44 percent, the fourth or fifth film in the franchise—depending how you count Paul Feig’s 2016 remake of the same name—opened above expectations with an estimated $45 million in three days. That is nearly identical to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which opened at $44 million, and the aforementioned 2016 remake, which grossed $46 million in its debut. Given such similarities, it’s probably worth noting that one reason the 2016 reboot was perceived as a financial disappointment and Afterlife was not is because the former cost a reported $145 million while Afterlife’s price tag was about half that.

It was a bit of a good news, bad news situation for Sony Pictures over the weekend. The good news is that "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," the latest entry in the long-running comedy/horror franchise, topped the box office with a $45 million haul. That was at the high end of expectations, which was certainly positive, and theaters could use the help right now. At the same time, the movie carries a $100 million budget — which was quite a bit higher than 2021's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife." And yet, at the end of the day, both movies opened to just about the same number domestically. This provides proof that this franchise has a pretty well-defined ceiling commercially, which likely limits what can be done going forward.
What's interesting is that the last three movies in the series all opened in an eerily similar range. 2016's female-led "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call" took in $46 million on its...

The Ghostbusters are back in New York for the second instalment of the sequel-slash-reboot series, following 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This time round, it’s directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote both Afterlife and Frozen Empire with Jason Reitman. Effectively energised by the New York setting, the sequel has evidently learned from the disastrous mistakes of the previous film and emerges as an entertaining adventure in its own right, though it’s not entirely without problems.

McKenna Grace reprises her lead role as Phoebe in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which led the weekend box office with $45 million. At 17 she is not yet a household name, but she laid some groundwork early: At age six she had a supporting role on the Disney Channel sitcom “Crash & Bernstein.” Later she received an Emmy nomination for her work in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and portrayed the younger selves for the leads in movies like “I, Tonya” and “Captain Marvel.”
Her “Ghostbusters” co-star is Finn Wolfhard, who made his debut at 13 in CW’s “Supernatural” before starring in “Stranger Things” and “It.” Zendaya, star of “Dune: Part Two,” got her start as a Disney Channel regular. Her co-star, Oscar-nominated Austin Butler, cut his teeth at Nickelodeon.

For a moment, allow your mind to drift back to 1984. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis, the three actors who played the iconic Ghostbusters, defended the city against grotesque creatures.
Unbelievably, the legendary film, which turns 40 this year, has spawned innumerable reboots and sequels, including the recently released Gil Kenan’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. If you share our nostalgia for the original Ghostbusters flick, let us take a trip down memory lane and learn some fascinating facts about Ivan Reitman’s 1984 movie.
Even now, audiences are intrigued by this timeless masterpiece, distributed by Columbia Pictures. What many fans might not know, though, is that Ghostbusters’ original title and abandoned futuristic plot could have severely damaged this beloved classic.

Obviously, blasting March with franchise sequels was the way to turn things around after a number of slower months at the box office. Read on for the weekend box office report.
The big new release for the weekend was Sony’s sequel, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which opened in 4,345 theaters, with much of the returning cast from 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” including Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and McKenna Grace, as well as many of the original Ghostbusters from Ivan Reitman‘s ’80s comedies. It also introduced new characters played by comics Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, and James Acaster.
By Thursday, the movie had only racked up 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, showing less critical support than “Afterlife,” but it still was able to open with $16 million on Friday, including $4.7 million in Thursday previews. Sony has estimated an opening weekend of $45.2 million for the action-comedy, averaging just over $10,000 per location, just slightly ahead of “Afterlife’s” $44 million opening,...

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” ruled over the domestic box office and arrived on the higher end of expectations.
The latest installment in Sony’s supernatural comedy series has collected $45.2 million in its debut in 4,345 North American theaters. Earlier in the weekend, “Frozen Empire” looked like it would top out with $42 million but estimates were revised up after a bigger-than-expected Sunday. At the international box office, the film ignited to a tepid $16.4 million from 25 markets for a global start of $61 million.
Still, those domestic ticket sales are just barely ahead of its 2021 predecessor, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which earned $44 million to start while the box office was deep in pandemic recovery mode. It’s a sign that the 30-year-old franchise hasn’t expanded its constituency beyond the original (and aging) core fans of the business of busting ghosts.
Plus, “Frozen Empire” carries a bigger budget than the last one, costing $100 million to produce and many millions more to market.

Sony’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire had no trouble winning a relatively quiet weekend at the box office: Stronger-than-expected Saturday turnout rescued the movie from opening behind the franchise’s last installment.
Sunday estimates show Frozen Empire launching with $45.2 million in North America thanks to multi-generational turnout and families. In 2021, the pandemic-challenged Ghostbusters: Afterlife debuted to $44 million. The new movie will need to have decent legs, considering it cost more to make — $100 million, versus $75 million for Afterlife. And there’s still concern that the film hasn’t broadened out to any notable degree in terms of new fans.
Overseas, the Sony tentpole started off with $16.4 million from 25 markets — it has a staggered rollout for competitive reasons — for a global start of $61.6 million. In like-for-like markets, Sony says it is pacing 15 percent ahead of Afterlife. The U.K. leads with $5.3 million, followed quickly by Mexico with $5.2 million.

In Hollywood, casting decisions can make or break a movie. Sometimes, the biggest roles almost end up in different hands, which changes the story. Take Ghostbusters, for example, the classic film with the guys chasing ghosts. Well, imagine if Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were carrying those proton packs! Alongside them, crazy, right?

We all know the Ghostbusters crew, isn’t that so? However, they might have looked totally different. Back in ’84, Ivan Reitman dropped this flick about a ghost-catching scientist in New York City, and it blew up. Fans and critics couldn’t get enough of it. Then, in 1989, a sequel was released, but it did not quite hit the same high notes.
Attempts to make a third Ghostbusters film persevered for quite a while, yet hit a roadblock with Harold Ramis’ passing in 2014. Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot of the franchise featured an all-female team with nods to the originals.

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” kicked off with $16 million in North American ticket sales across Friday and preview screenings in 4,345 theaters. That nearly matches the $16.6 million that its predecessor “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” earned on its opening day in November 2021. Sony’s sci-fi comedy sequel will easily top domestic charts, though its work isn’t done yet considering its $100 million production budget.
That’s an uptick in the price tag from “Afterlife,” which cost $75 million before marketing and distribution. That franchise revival nearly tripled its $44 million domestic opening weekend, playing well through the Thanksgiving holiday to finish with $129 million and $204 million worldwide. Similarly, “Frozen Empire” could boost its fortunes with Easter at the end of the month.
Reviews have been leaning more lukewarm compared to the so-so received “Afterlife.” Early moviegoers are also a little cooler on the franchise now, with audience survey firm Cinema Score turning in a B+ grade. (“Afterlife” scored an A-.

Ghostbusters Franchise Ranked On Rotten Tomatoes: From Paul Rudd’s Frozen Empire To Bill Murray’s Og Film; Find Out Which Film Has The Highest Rating. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
The Ghostbusters franchise is once again back with the sequel of the reboot that came out in 2021. The original film came out in the 80s and was not only commercially successful but critically praised. The latest film in the franchise, Frozen Empire, has yet to have a worldwide release; it premiered in New York City’s AMC theatres a few days back and came out across the USA on Friday.
The latest release stars Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and others from 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The 2024 film reunites the old and the new cast. The Og characters returned for this recent film, including Bill Murray and Annie Potts. Gil Kenan directed it, which is currently the franchise’s lowest-rated film.

Paul Rudd has become a seminal part of the MCU as Ant-Man. His debut in the charming 2015 solo film intrigued audiences and brought a new type of superhero for audiences. The Quantum Realm, which was introduced in his solo film, became a huge factor in the Avengers defeating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Ant-Man 3 introduced the next big bad for the MCU in the form of Knag. However, both the film and the character were not received well by fans. After the disastrous results of the film, the future of Ant-Man is uncertain, and even Rudd does not know when or if his character will ever return to the MCU.

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is in theaters now and it’s a lot of frosty fun.
The film, a direct follow-up to “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and the fourth film in the mainline “Ghostbusters” continuity (which began back with 1984’s “Ghostbusters”), follows the Spangler family as they move into the iconic New York City firehouse that originally handled the Ghostbusters. There, they uncover an ancient evil that threatens to destroy Manhattan – and the entire world.
But are the Ghostbusters successful in thwarting this newest foe? Or will some of them sacrifice themselves for the good of mankind?
Before we break down the ending of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” with some commentary from director and co-writer Gil Kenan, we must issue a sternly worded spoiler warning.
Where are the Ghostbusters at the end of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?”
Good question actually!
The original Ghostbusters, as well as the new Ghostbusters, have effectively been grounded. Walter Peck...

When Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan first conceived what would become 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, their top order of business was to reframe the franchise around a 12-year-old girl with a proton pack. Well, since then, Mckenna Grace has proven time and time again that her co-writers/directors made the absolutely right choice, as her fan-favorite character of Phoebe Spengler is currently the definitive hero of the Ghosbusters franchise.
In the Kenan-directed Afterlife sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, it’s been two years since Phoebe led the Ghostbusters to victory over Gozer at Egon Spengler’s Oklahoma farm, and she and the rest of the Spengler-Grooberson family are now full-fledged Ghostbusters, operating out of the famous New York City firehouse from Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989).
But early on in Frozen Empire, the Ghostbusters’ pursuit of a ghost causes some of their signature damage to the city, and an old foe, William Atherton’s Walter Peck,...

The Ghostbusters: Afterlife (watch it Here) sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (which, of course, also serves as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II) is now in theatres – and in the review of the film that was written by JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray (you can read it at This Link), Bumbray said that it feels like it was “aimed at building the franchise out more extensively.” While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, franchise co-creator Dan Aykroyd hinted that we could see the franchise expand with globe-trotting adventures.
Aykroyd said, “We like New York, but that’s not to say that we couldn’t make New York the base and travel off somewhere else. But… hey, there are ghosts around the world.“
While the first two films and Frozen Empire are set in New York, Afterlife took place in Oklahoma. It sounds like Aykroyd wouldn’t mind seeing the...

Let the ghost hunting begin.
Sony’s spring event pic Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has started off its North American box office run with $4.7 million in Thursday previews before rolling out everywhere on Friday.
That compares to $4.5 million in previews for the last film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which succeeded in restoring the luster to the classic franchise created by the late Ivan Reitman. His son, Jason Reitman, directed Afterlife, but this time turned over helming duties to series co-scribe Gil Kenan.
Sony expects Frozen Empire to top the weekend’s box office chart with an opening in the $43 million to $44 million range, while tracking services are suggesting $45 million or more. (Afterlife, which debuted amid the challenges posed by the pandemic era, debuted to $44 million domestically). Critics didn’t exactly embrace either film, with Frozen Empire presently sporting a not-so-fresh score of 44 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Positive audience reaction, however, may boost the movie’s box office potential.

Ghostbusting is back at the box office!
“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the fifth and latest movie in the frightening franchise, has made $4.7 million at the box office in Thursday previews.
Sony and Columbia Pictures’ new movie, which reunites the original stars of the ’80s classic and the cast from the 2021 “Afterlife” sequel, is expected to top the box office this weekend with an opening between $43 million and $45 million. That launch is in line with the previous film that revived the franchise, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which had a $45 million opening amid the pandemic. “Frozen Empire” will need to outperform its predecessor to turn a profit due to its $100 million price tag (“Afterlife” only cost $75 million).
“Frozen Empire’s” Thursday box office haul is slightly up from “Afterlife,” which made $4.5 million in previews back in 2021. At the end of its run, “Afterlife” made $129.3 million in North America and $204 million worldwide.
