Fire Country Season 2 ended on a positive note, with our favorite bad boy out of prison and back in society. What's next for Bode without firefighting?
Meanwhile, our favorite redeemed bad guy, Manny, is back in cuffs after years on the straight and narrow. It will be a long wait for Fire Country Season 3 to find out if he's going back to prison or free.
We started with a Bode-Gabriela breakup to start the season and a wedding of Gabriela-Diego to close the season out.
We saw a wedding, but did we witness a marriage? Bode still loves Gabs, and we're sure she loves him. So, did she marry wrong-guy Diego? The only "I do" we actually heard was from Manny.
Maybe there's hope for Bodela when Fire Country Season 3 returns. Here's our breakdown of Fire Country Season 2.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Fire Country Season 2 finale “I Do.”] The good news: The wait shouldn’t be too long to find out what’s next after a couple of cliffhangers to end Fire Country Season 2. Bode (Max Thieriot), after walking out of Gabriela’s (Stephanie Arcila) wedding to Diego (Rafael de la Fuente), turns to his uncle, Luke (Michael Trucco), in hopes he can pull strings to get him back to firefighting Asap. Manny (Kevin Alejandro), with a warrant out for his arrest, evades the law long enough to walk Gabriela down the aisle before surrendering to them. Eve (Jules Latimer), who has been crushing it as Three Rock captain lately, gets a job offer to oversee the whole program but turns it down. And Bode and Jake’s (Jordan Calloway) high school classmate, Rick (Adam Aalderks), returns to Edgewater and reveals he might be Genevieve’s biological father. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Fire Country Season 2 finale “I Do.”] Bode (Max Thieriot) may not have just made the best decision to end Fire Country Season 2. Now that he’s free, he has to figure out what he wants to do with his life. A future with Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila), unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be in the (immediate) cards: She’s about to marry Diego (Rafael de la Fuente) as the season ends. Firefighting is going to take time, but to him, it’s the first healthy addiction he’s had in his life, so he goes to Luke (Michael Trucco) in the final moments to pull strings to get him back to that. Below, Thieriot breaks down the finale and teases what’s ahead in Season 3. Talk about getting into the mindset of a Bode who’s out, going to Smokey’s, making plans, figuring out his life, no longer wearing that orange…...

Fire Country fans had big expectations of the season finale, but did it work out how everyone wanted?
Yes and no, for this uber-fan.
The good news is that Fire Country Season 2 Episode 10 started with our fav bad boy inmate getting sprung from prison.
That's right, Bode's back baby! And so is his trusty sidekick, Freddy. At least for the moment.
But being free from prison doesn't mean the problems are over for Bode.
Now, he's got to find a job and a way to move on with his life. What will Bode be if he's not a firefighter?
Freddy: It's called Goat's Grilled Cheese Truck, and LA loves it.
Bode: You really did it, Freddy.
Freddy: Yeah. What are you going to do? Hmm?
Bode: I know what I want. I can't have it.
Freddy: Eve told me about Gabriela getting married in a couple of days.
Bode: I was talking about firefighting.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details from the season finale of Fire Country on CBS.
It’s become a well-worn trope in TV weddings; a heartsick man (or woman) is stuck in a pew while he watches the love of his life exchange vows with someone else.
But the only ‘I do’ viewers heard in the May 17 episode of Fire Country came from the mouth of Gabriela’s dad Manny (Kevin Alejandro). It wasn’t uttered by Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) or Diego (Rafael de la Fuente) at the altar.
Here, Thieriot addresses the cliffhanger and whether there’s still a chance that Bode and Gabriela will have a future in season 3.
Deadline Talk about the decision to end the season with the wedding cliffhanger. Obviously, there had to be a lot of viewers in the audience who wanted Bode to object, don’t you think?

Fire Country Season 2 Episode 10 is the event of the year that Bode fans have been dreading.

But will Gabriela really go through with the union after she and Bode had such a powerful conversation to clear the air in Fire Country Season 2 Episode 9?
Fans have waited all season to witness this interaction. Was it done in time to change things between them?
And that kiss they shared? Whoo! Talk about fanning the flames.
Gabriela insists it was a mistake but hasn't she said that about her relationship with Bode before in the first season?...

The Fire Country series gives fans a unique twist on an oversaturated niche in the TV industry.
It's not the first show to focus on fire-related storylines or feature a main character who's been on the wrong side of the law.
But Fire Country might be the first show in which we actually like our bad-boy inmates enough to want to see them free from prison confinement.
Fans fell in love with Bode Leone (formerly Donovan) in Fire Country Season 1 as he transitioned from a prison inmate to a heroic (despite for selfish reasons) inmate firefighter.
Throughout the first season, Bode -- played by the talented and sexy Max Thieriot -- hooked viewers with his unusual blend of self-righteous bravery and a higher moral code.
Yeah, kinda unusual for someone who's been in prison.
But Bode's hero complex isn't surprising, given his history.
Firefighting seems to be a family trade.

“There will be a wedding,” Fire Country star Billy Burke promises of the upcoming May 17 finale. “What transpires at that wedding is in question, and Bode [Max Thieriot] might be rethinking his relationship status in the whole scheme of what he’s got in front of him.” Before that finale, however, everyone’s heading to the campaign fire in Episode 9, airing May 10, and as seen in the photo above, Bode and his ex, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila), whose wedding to Diego (Rafael de la Fuente) is the one coming up, will have a conversation. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fire Country Season 2 Episode 8 “It’s Not Over.”] It’s a mix of good and bad news throughout the latest Fire Country, which does end with Three Rock in a better place but also with us worried about one of the Leones. The gala and attempt to impress the governor (Catherine Lough Haggquist) does end up being a success, thanks to speeches from both Eve (Jules Latimer) and Bode (Max Thieriot) and the latter being among those who leap into action when a fire breaks out. But, as everyone learns, it was actually Luke (Michael Trucco) who recommended the fire camp be shut down (for financial reasons). In other Leone family drama, Vince’s (Billy Burke) hand tremor is a serious (heart-stopping) concern, but one only Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) knows about, and he plans to keep it that way for now as everyone’s rolling out to help with the campaign fire.

Like many other TV shows, no matter the network, Fire Country's second season fell victim to the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes and had to be cut in order to be released at all. While the first season of the show consisted of 22 episodes, the second season will only air 10, making it very close to the finale.
However, the closer fans get to the end of the season, the harder it is to see the point of a major twist that surprised Bode this season. For a good half of the season, he worried that little Genevieve was his biological daughter. Now that the truth is out and it's confirmed that she's not, viewers are disappointed.

In the previous episode of Fire Country Season Two, Episode Six, we saw Cara pass away. It’s been tough for Jake to move on, as he was on the verge of proposing to her. For Genevive, losing her mother has been even harder, especially since a paternity test revealed that Bode isn’t her biological dad. Meanwhile, one of the Three Rock Camp prisoners escaped, and the sheriff was murdered by the superintendent on the same day. This made people in the community think the camp was dangerous with no security. They wanted it shut down, even though the escaped prisoner didn’t kill the sheriff—it was someone from their own police department! Now, in this new 7th episode, we’ll finally learn what’s going to happen with Genevive’s legal guardianship. Will Bode and his family step in as her guardians? And what about Three Rock Camp?...

Wow. After a rocky start to the season, the latest episode of Fire Country lived up to its name by delivering a Hail Mary to get things back on track.
Fans have felt slighted recently, with many complaining that the latest episodes have failed to achieve the awesomeness of Fire Country Season 1.
We should note that some problems seem to be caused by industry-crushing strikes. Programming has been askew across the board as creators try to fit an entire season into a truncated space. It seems the delayed start wasn't the worst of it.
Fire Country hasn't escaped unscathed. So far, every hour has been packed with too much action, bizarre storylines, poor character development, and wonky, stilted dialogue.
While it's an ongoing trend, Fire Country Season 2 Episode 6 turned things around.
So, this seemed the perfect opportunity for Deputy Mickey Fox to return. At least now we know she exists,...

By the very nature of Fire Country, death should be an integral part of it.
But while destruction has reigned on the CBS firefighter drama, death has been a much less frequent visitor.
There have been five deaths throughout 28 episodes of Fire Country.
The most significant death, that of Riley Leone, happened before the series began. That event did put several characters on new paths.
As explained via flashback on Fire Country Season 1 Episode 2, Riley had been secretly dating Jake, Bode's best friend. He broke up with her on the night of her birthday.
On the ride home after the breakup, a distraught Riley jumped out of Bode's car and wanted to return to Jake's house. Bode tried to get her back into the car and lost control, crashing the vehicle and killing Riley on impact.

“The finale ends crazy. I know last year was crazy,” Fire Country star, creator, and executive producer Max Thieriot says. Season 1 ended with it looking like Bode (Thieriot) would be getting his freedom, only for him to shock his friends and family at his parole hearing by taking responsibility for drugs at Three Rock. He wasn’t back in prison long, though, and was back at Three Rock by the end of the Season 2 premiere. Now, starting with Season 2 Episode 8, “we really start building this arc for a lot of these characters to where they end up landing in Episode 10. And so I think it’s really fun to be able to follow that from [Episodes] 8, 9, and 10 and sort of try and predict where things are going to end up,” Thieriot tells TV Insider. “Because I think maybe some people will guess some things, but there’s certainly things that people are not going to guess.

One thing is clear on Fire Country: There will always be love between Bode (Max Thieriot) and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila). But right now, she’s planning to marry someone else, and Bode spent a significant amount of time with Diego (Rafael De La Fuente) while the paramedic tried to save Cara‘s (Sabina Gadecki) life in the fifth episode of the season. But could Bode actually stand back and watch Gabriela marry someone else? “We’re going to find out, I’ll tell you that,” Thieriot tells TV Insider. “It’s like his heart is split, right? One part of his heart really just wants the best for her. And after this experience in Episode 5, he really believes that Diego is a great person for her to be with. But then I think the other side of his heart is breaking into a million pieces because he believes that she is his person.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fire Country Season 2 Episode 6 “Alert the Sheriff.”] Fire Country could be expanding with a new spinoff, centered on the sheriff’s office, and the latest episode introduces Morena Baccarin as Mickey, who also happens to be Sharon’s (Diane Farr) estranged sister. It’s not a backdoor pilot—this is very much an episode of Fire Country, though one that does introduce us to a different part of Edgewater—but it does give us an idea of what we could see, in part, if a new series does happen. We meet Mickey in a helicopter, chasing down a suspect for money laundering; when he dumps the cash out, the Three Rock inmates immediately grab it, then Sharon’s the one to bring it to the sheriff’s office. It’s through the scenes with Sharon and Bode that we get to know more about Mickey. (They’re ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fire Country Season 2 Episode 6 “Alert the Sheriff.”] “I didn’t sleep much, but it was a lot of fun,” series star, creator, and executive producer Max Thieriot says of directing the latest episode of Fire Country. An inmate, after realizing he’ll probably die of cancer before he earns his freedom, escapes Three Rock; Mickey, with Bode’s help, tracks him and the corrupt sheriff down. And the paternity results come in, revealing that Bode is, in fact, not Genevieve’s (Alix West Lefler) dad. Below, Thieriot talks about that paternity reveal, what it means for Bode, introducing Mickey, and more. Plus, let us know your thoughts on the potential new sheriff-centric series we could see here. Finally! Fire Country is back!
No, not back on the air. We're already halfway through a shortened season due to a delay in production caused by the 2023 writer's strike.

After a slow start and weird pacing, many wondered if Season 1 was a fluke. The first five episodes of Season 2 dragged along, with a lot of matches thrown into a pit, hoping they'd catch flame. It didn't happen.
No offense to Max Theriot, the mind and main actor behind the series, but things didn't work for the first half of Season 2. Everything was off.
However, there's hope for more success for Fire Country and sexy bad-boy prison firefighter Bode Leone, and not just because CBS recently announced...

CBS’ Fire Country this Friday introduced us to Mickey Fox, a sergeant with the Edgewater County sheriff’s department.
Played by Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland), Mickey made her grand entrance at the top of the episode via bit of a helicopter chase, between her/her pilot and a drug runner. The suspect lobbed his duffel bag of cash out the ‘copter door, veritably raining bills down on the Three Rock inmates below. The ill-gotten cash was promptly rounded up, though, with (almost) all of it accounted for.

With the opening episodes of Fire Country Season 2, the character of Cara, portrayed by Sabina Gadecki, quickly emerged as a new fan favorite.
A single mom navigating some very tricky circumstances, Cara embodied much of what makes the show so different from other network dramas:
With her daughter's father behind bars and a new love emerging as the father figure her daughter deserves, Cara was in difficult terrain and often uncertain of the right path. But her devotion to Genevieve was never in question.
If there's a central theme to Fire Country, it's that we're defined by our present actions, not our past mistakes. And Cara represented that idea as well as any heroic inmate.
Warning: Spoilers For Fire Country Season 2 Episode 5 Lie Ahead!
So it came as a shock when the character was killed in an ambulance wreck just as fans were beginning to feel that her best days were ahead of her.

Spoiler Alert! This story contains plot points from Friday’s episode of Fire Country on CBS.
In Friday’s episode dubbed “This Storm Will Pass,” the Edgewater firefighters encounter their first firenado that ends up taking the life of someone very close to the team.
Here, showrunner Tia Napolitano and executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan explain why it made sense to say goodbye to a character who was first introduced in season one, and how the Cal Fire team — especially Bode (Max Thieriot) — will respond going forward.
Deadline: So was this your first firenado?
Joan Rater: Yes, we’re firenado virgins?
Tia Napolitano: We ask all the writers to come in with the most interesting incidents, big or small, at the top of the season. Someone pitched a firenado. Obviously that’s on the big end of the spectrum and we all gravitated toward it really early.
