Jimmy Kimmel paid tribute to the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 80 years ago before taking a shot at Donald Trump, who he referred to as “Draft Dodger Don.” On Thursday’s (June 6) Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which aired on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the late-night host said, “Eighty years ago on this day, American, British, and Canadian troops stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight the forces of good people on both sides,” referencing Trump’s quote defending white nationalists. “President Biden was in Normandy today to remember our great heroes,” Kimmel continued. “You know, Donald Trump in 2018 infamously opted not to visit the graves of American soldiers in France because he didn’t want to get his hair wet, and he called them suckers and losers.” “The only thing [Trump] ever stormed was Daniels,” Kimmel quipped, referencing Trump’s affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. “Draft dodger Don,...

Jimmy Kimmel had a bone to pick with Larry David, and finally got the chance to confront the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator/star about it.
David was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night—in a sit-down that was originally scheduled to happen on Monday, March 11, the day after Kimmel hosted the Oscars. That interview never happened as, according to David’s publicity team, the comedian was still reeling from the death of his close friend and co-star Richard Lewis, who sadly passed away in late February. Kimmel understood… until a very “Larry David” thing happened. Which the host confronted him about.
Kimmel waited until the very end of their interview to say he had “a somewhat uncomfortable question to ask you,” which didn’t seem to surprise David.
“So I hosted the Oscars on Sunday [March 10], and on Monday you were our guest.

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Michael Che and Colin Jost all have hosted the Primetime Emmys in the past 15 years, but the late-night community once again is feeling aggrieved by the TV Academy as it heads into the latest awards season.
The central issue relates to the number of nominations in the Outstanding Talk Series and Outstanding Variety Series categories and the difficulty with fairly judging a wide range of shows that can be very different from each other.
Insiders tell Deadline that there needs to be a change in terms of how late-night shows and variety series are judged at the Emmys. However, no one can really agree what that change is.

Kamala Harris shared her reaction to Donald Trump’s guilty verdict during her Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records during his hush money trial. Kimmel asked the VP how she was informed of the former president being found guilty.
“Rapidly,” the VP responded, laughing. She then explained how thorough the legal process was for Trump to be held accountable.
“A jury of 12 people, over the course of six weeks, deliberated on the evidence and facts and unanimously determined guilt [with] 34 felony counts,” she said. “There was a defense attorney who actively participated in selecting that jury, who actively made decisions about witnesses to call, witnesses to cross-examine and the jury made their decision.”
“I think the reality is cheaters don’t like getting caught and being held accountable,” she continued. “The reality is, let’s just fast-forward to November.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,763,000 total viewers with 209,000 P18-49 viewers for the week starting May 27, 2024, per live-plus-three data from Nielsen. That’s +9% in total viewers and +2% in P18-49 from the week before (beginning May 20). The show’s week-to-week gains were driven by Kimmel’s Trump guilty verdict-focused episode on Thursday, May 30, which drew the show’s largest total live-plus-same-day audience in more than six months.

While promoting his new movie Ezra on Thursday in New York City, the actor told Variety how “this never should have gotten to this stage. I don’t want to be talking, but I am so upset by it. I have to say something. This is my country. This guy wants to destroy it. Period. He’s crazy.”
A jury in New York City on Thursday found the former president guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of a conspiracy to keep a potential sex scandal from derailing his first presidential campaign. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, just days before the start of the Republican National Convention.

A sweet and gracious and often painfully labored dramedy about a stand-up comic who struggles to connect with his autistic 11-year-old son, Tony Goldwyn’s “Ezra” rides an emotional honesty that’s almost completely undone by the sweaty contrivances of its plotting. But this modest little movie’s refusal to be limited by its “problem” — its insistence that stories involving neurodiverse characters can, should, and must touch on a wider range of human experience if they hope to ring true — feels like a step in the right direction for how such people are depicted on screen and seen in the world. It’s an approach that’s sure to resonate with anyone whose kid is on the spectrum, their autism just one ingredient in the endlessly complex soup of who they are and how they’re raised.
It’s also an approach, “Ezra” suggests, that requires a hard-won degree of finesse.

Back in 2013, five years prior to the release of ‘Infinity War,’ Patton Oswalt ad-libbed lines about the MCU. In the TV show ‘Parks and Recreation,’ Oswalt’s character, Garth Blundin, shares his Marvel/Star Wars crossover fan fiction to deter Leslie Knope from altering Pawnee’s laws.
Despite being entirely improvised in April 2013, Oswalt’s character accurately foreshadowed Thanos gathering the Infinity Stones to confront the Avengers in the MCU.
Recently, Oswalt made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he discussed his foresight in predicting certain events.
Some things weirdly came true; some on purpose, some by accident.(…) They had not done ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ . When I say Time Gem, they cut to Chris Pratt. This was way before he did ‘Guardians’ .Also, Amy has the funniest line in the whole thing when she says ‘the female part’s a little underwritten’, which was so exactly what those movies were.

Josh Brolin, the 56-year-old Oscar nominee for his supporting turn in “Milk,” co-star of Best Picture-winner “No Country For Old Men,” and Barbra Streisand’s stepson, can now add director to his resume. The actor got behind the camera for the first time for the penultimate episode of the second season of “Outer Range,” the sci-fi Western on Amazon Prime Video in which he stars opposite Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, and Tom Pelphrey.
The new gig has given him a new perspective on working with actors from the director’s chair. Following a crack he made on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” about how he “didn’t really love actors,” he expanded a bit in a conversation with Esquire.
Explaining how he took the new gig very seriously with what he called over-preparation and not “being lazy about it,” he then shared that he wasn’t particularly impressed with certain kinds of...

Now, he clarified to Esquire that it’s difficult with actors, particularly those who are harder to work with. “Especially people who won’t come to the set and that kind of shit,” he explained. “If there’s a good reason,...

Two of the most celebrated shows in Emmy history are set to experience a weird awards season.
Saturday Night Live, which has won more Emmys than any other show in television history, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which has won in its category eight years in a row, could both face the indignity of not being officially nominated for an Emmy as a result of submission rules.
The number of submissions in the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category is expected to be significantly lower than last year. In addition to SNL and Oliver’s HBO show, the only other shows understood to be submitting in this category are CBS’ Taylor Tomlinson-hosted After Midnight, HBO’s Painting with John and The Magic Prank Show with Justin Willman, which launched in April.

The sci-fi thriller Companion is coming our way from writer/director Drew Hancock and the team behind the 2022 horror hit Barbarian… but even though nearly a year has passed since the project assembled its cast and went into production, we still know very little about it. It has managed to stay shrouded in secrecy all this time. Which is a good thing, since its release date is still several months away. Jimmy Kimmel is, without fail, the highlight of TV’s upfronts week every year; 2024 was no exception.
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host left no stone unturned in his annual profane and ruthless takedown of everything Disney (and everyone else in Hollywood) wants to sell to advertisers. This year that included the new Disney+ bundle with Hulu and Max, Netflix finally kissing the asses of said advertisers, the AMPTP, “The Golden Bachelor,” and finding a catchy new name for that sports-streaming service Disney is working on with Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery.
He started things off with a huge announcement: Bob Iger’s successor at Disney as CEO is… an artificially intelligent Bob Iger clone. AIger.
“Bob isn’t going anywhere ever again anywhere,” Kimmel said. “We uploaded him to the cloud so that we can live in peace and prosperity under the watchful AI of the Iger. All hail AIger!

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host Jimmy Kimmel once again shared the Disney upfronts stage on Tuesday, providing his zingers in person for advertisers and media buyers at the programming presentation for the first time in five years. That’s because last year Kimmel didn’t attend due to the Hollywood WGA strikes. And in 2022, he was in New York — but had to be beamed in to do his routine after testing positive for Covid. (The 2021 and 2020 upfronts were virtual because of the pandemic.)
“Two years ago, I couldn’t be here in person because I had Covid. And last year, I couldn’t be here because of the writer’s strike. And this year I couldn’t think of a third excuse,” Kimmel said. “I tried diarrhea on the plane, but I guess they get that all the time now.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week, which gave its host the chance to do something he has never done before: be a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers. And the timing could not have been better.
After Meyers introduced Kimmel as “a fantastic comedian, writer, and human being who is also the longest tenured late-night host currently on TV,” the two wasted little time getting right down to business. For Meyers, that meant congratulating Kimmel for playing such a prominent role in Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
Kimmel accepted the kudos, but admitted that “it doesn’t compare to making so much fun of [Trump] at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that he actually ran for president… which was your fault. But it was exciting. You know, you put in the work and it really pays off.”

Jimmy Kimmel is taking a break this week—from his show, that is. He’s still got work to do.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be airing repeats all week as its host travels to New York, where he’s scheduled to make his first-ever visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers tonight. He’s expected to appear at ABC’s upfront event tomorrow.
Kimmel will be back in the studio May 20th for just three days before going dark again for an extended Memorial Day weekend Thursday May 23rd through Tuesday May 28th.
As summer nears, we’ll likely continue to see less of Kimmel. The longest-tenured late-night host has been handing his show over to guest hosts through the months of July and August early since 2020.
The other late-night hosts are all reporting to work this week, with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers,...

Oprah Winfrey apologized for being a “major contributor” to America’s toxic diet culture. During an event hosted by Weight Watchers on Thursday, Winfrey took responsibility for promoting unhealthy weight loss methods and expressed regret for profiting from diet culture in her shows.
“I have been a steadfast participant in this diet culture. Through my platforms, through the magazine, through the talk show for 25 years and online . . . I’ve been a major contributor to it,” Winfrey stated. “I cannot tell you how many weight-loss shows and makeovers I have done, and they have been a staple since I’ve been working in television.”
“I’ve shared how that famous ‘wagon of fat’ moment on the Oprah show is one of my biggest regrets. It sent a message that starving yourself with a liquid diet, set a standard for people watching that I nor anybody else could uphold,” she said.

Joel Edgerton is glad he’s not part of the MCU, especially when it came to his possible casting for Star Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Appearing on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, Edgerton revealed that he “didn’t quite sort of understand the tone” of the comedy-action film that spurred a trilogy, despite auditioning for the lead role. Chris Pratt was later cast.
“Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did,” Edgerton said. “And I wasn’t really sure how I could be a part of that tone. And I truly think that the world is a much better place that I’m not Star-Lord, even if I had the opportunity or I did a good enough audition because it is the way it’s meant to be.
