Inspector Luger is demoted to Captain
kevinolzak23 June 2014
"Vanished" begins a 2-part episode with the return of neighborhood bum Ray Brewer (John Dullaghan, sixth of ten), first seen in "Open House," reporting that the mission where he lives with fellow vagrants is being ransacked for bodies at night (Harris: "kind of a bum's rush?" Brewer: "I don't make jokes about your job!"). He's seriously considering moving to the suburbs since the discos took over! Barney has to listen to the woeful tale of how he ended up a derelict (Brewer: "I had a good job, beautiful family, nice house, respect in the community...then something happened and I became a bum!" Barney: "thanks for sharing that Ray!"). Harris decides to investigate by going undercover disguised as a hobo. Meanwhile, Wojo and Dietrich investigate a call from Wall Street about "some hooker trying to solicit a law firm!" The woman in question (Elaine Giftos, first of two) is merely looking for a suitable male to father her child, without the restrictions of marriage. Fearing he's about to get dumped by the department, a despondent Inspector Luger reports for duty...as Captain Luger (to be continued).
