Tom brags on Eddie for finally not leaving his bicycle in the driveway, and rewards him by saying he will buy him a new bike. However, Eddie realizes his bike must have been stolen. As a result Tom takes back the notion of buying a new bike as a lesson for Eddie to take care of his things. Tom feels he is in the tough position of not wanting to punish him, but also not rewarding him. He's also doesn't feel that it's right to get another bike after stating he would give Eddie one as a reward. Tom takes Eddie to the police station to file a report for the stolen bike. Eddie later writes a reward poster with 300 copies he delivers around town. Tina pressures Tom to get Eddie a new bike, stating how much the poster copies ($15) and Eddie losing his windbreaker ($16) has already cost him over a beat-up bike. Tom stays firm that it is a matter of principle. The police have a similar attitude to Tina's. Tom ponders what's best for his son versus the best lesson for his son.
