Love Me Tender (#4.14)

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia sets Dorothy up with some guy. The date doesn't go well since they have nothing in common, but Dorothy keeps on seeing him because sex is so good. Blanche and Rose are volunteering in a program for girls without mothers but the two they get are little brats who shoplift and try to make Blanche and Rose seem guilty.

I don't really get the issue everyone had with Dorothy sleeping with that guy and why it is so wrong. It must be the outdated thinking that women can't be enjoying just sex. All I can say is that she is a middle aged woman who doesn't have to worry about nonsense like reputation and should sleep all she wants, I doubt having no relationship and no sex is better than that.

But the episode had some fun moments. Rose responding to Dorothy saying she thought Rose might be her date. Sophia telling Dorothy that it was a bad date and Sophia jumping on the guy at the end.

Lust!!!!!!

Tired of her daughter being on the shelf, Sophia sets Dorothy up on a blind date with a Man called Eddie, after a few dates it becomes clear that the only thing the pair have in common, is sex. Blanche and Rose take part in a scheme to befriend teenagers.

A thoroughly enjoyable and funny episode, laughs galore, and more cutting glances than you normally get, this time it's Blanche that does the bulk of sideways glances.

Plenty of funny moments here, one of the best of them, Rose rambling on about dead old Saint Olaf, and Sophia blurting out, 'I hate you,' too funny. Sophia delivers some wonderfully scathing one liners.

Lots of late 80's glamour here, some wonderful fashions from the time, loved Dorothy's purple outfit.

The moral of this story, Rose cannot keep a secret for very long.

8/10.

Warning: Spoilers
A terrific main plotline and a weak subplot are combined together to make a decent episode where the main plot is so good that the subplot is worth dealing with, especially for a bathroom or snack break. Thanks to Sophia's interference, Dorothy ends up with a blind date (John Fiedler as Eddie) who is so depressed over his divorce that he can barely make conversation. But Dorothy discovers that he's a terrific physical lover and that becomes a problem as far as a future is concerned.

The subplot involves two teenage girls whom Rose and Blanche become pals to, only to find out that they are thieves and not the sweet things they were initially thought to be. They are obnoxious when pretending to be sweet (obviously insincere) and even worse as the monsters they truly are. Fiedler as usual is completely adorable, even getting the other girls hot as they spend more than just a minute with them. The fast forward button works great for those scenes, but be sure to hit play when Fiedler reappears.
