The "Friendship Train" musical number has a trio of Muppets in traditional train engineer costume who serve as Gladys Knight's backup singers, much like her actual singers, The Pips. As such, Gladys Knight playfully dubbed those puppets as The MuppPips during production.
Pick-up shots involving the 'Signor Baffi's knife act' sketch were filmed on August 22, 1980, marking the final day of production on the Muppet Show. The last footage shot was a sequence involving Fozzie, scooter and knife throwing Signor Baffi. After floor manager Richard Holloway called out "Ladies and Gentlemen, that's a final wrap!", he was hit in the face with a pie, in true Muppet fashion.
