- TriviaThis episode marks the second time someone would try to hide a drunk Raymond Allen from Robin Braxton. In the Good Times episode Springtime in the Ghetto (1974), Michael decides to bring home neighborhood drunk "Ned the Wino" (Allen) for rehabilitation on the same day Mrs. Vinson (Braxton) is coming to inspect the Evans' home for a nicest apartment in the ghetto contest.
- Quotes
Lamont Sanford: Look, Pop, try and be a little nice to Aunt Esther. You know she's got that whiplash and that's very painful.
Fred G. Sanford: How did she do that, anyway?
Lamont Sanford: Well, she was sitting in the back of Uncle Woody's truck, and she got hit from the rear.
Fred G. Sanford: Well, how could you tell? Both ends look the same to me.
- Crazy creditsAs the closing music begins, Redd Foxx speaks over a freeze frame of Esther and Woody, telling viewers to tune in next week to meet their new son.

Aunt Esther adopts a new husband
"Aunt Esther Has a Baby" finds Aunt Esther and Uncle Woody (Raymond Allen, fifth of nine) determined to have a baby, that is to adopt an unwanted orphan that needs a good home so that they'll have someone to leave their most prized possessions to. Lamont is all too willing to help but Fred is his usual curmudgeonly self. Woody's penchant for seeking out every bottle within arm's length puts the interview in peril, until Fred finds himself recruited to play Esther's husband: "how can you drink a bottle in a half hour?" "you got a bottle and a half hour and I'll show you!" Lamont insists that his Pop maintain himself during the interview with Mrs. Sherman (Robin Braxton), to act like he's a happily married man of the house, and that he loves Esther: "I think I'm gonna throw up!" He reveals to his son how his feud with her has lasted decades, and that she never approved of him marrying her sister Elizabeth, either before or after the wedding. With her snappy retorts in response to his insults, it's a wonder she hasn't been called out as a hypocrite the way she clings to her bible!
