"Home Sweet Home for the Aged" was the 15th episode directly adapted from its British counterpart STEPTOE AND SON. Lamont is planning to take a year long trip around the world working on a tramp steamer, and wants his father to stay in a retirement home while he's gone. Fred gets suspicious when his son takes him on a drive to the beach instead of enjoying a great Sunday afternoon movie: "DAGORA THE SPACE MONSTER with Yosuki Natsuki and Yoki Fujiyama...they're Japanese actors, what do you think they were, a couple of motorcycles? Creatures from outer space start a wave of international jewel robberies...you know, I think that was the one where the monster eats up all the Tiffany's stores!" An extra nice Lamont explains that he wants to hear foreign languages and see strange people: "you wanna see some strange people, then go to St. Louis and look up your mother's people!" Fred believes that spending a year on a boat with 20 men won't be good for his son: "say bon voyage to the African Queen!" He's happy to see Bubba, and the delicious ribs delivered 'from the ghetto,' complaining about the lousy food: "it ain't got no taste, it's like eatin' a handkerchief...you could have a meal here and then belch and it wouldn't remind you of nothing!" Perennial old man Burt Mustin does his usual thing, finally kicking off at 92 in 1977.
