And Tim (Alfie Allen), an impassive loner whose scraggly beard is an outgrowth of his not bothering to shave, sits behind his table at a gun show, hawking $2 bumper stickers that say “When guns are outlawed, I will become an outlaw.” At home, he points a weapon at the TV set, like Travis Bickle, miming the execution of the U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno as she testifies at hearings about the FBI siege of the Branch Davidian compound at Waco. Usually, when books like Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, and The Hunger Games are adapted, fan wisdom and the conventional thought process usually lean towards declaring the books to be better than whatever we end up seeing on screen. However, there is the odd moment, where an author comes out to say that the show or the film was able to do something better than what they had done in the book.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon is just around the corner, and fans are surely excited to witness the continuation of the story that left everyone hanging at the end of the first installment. One big change that viewers will see in the upcoming series is the brand-new opening credits.
House of the Dragon / HBO Entertainment
The hit HBO show will be switching from the blood stream in a cogwheel theme to an embroidery of a Bayeux Tapestry-style history of the Targaryen family. House of the Dragon has become the latest piece in Game of Thrones’ masterful story. While many were concerned when the series was originally introduced, not only did it relieve these expectations, it exceeded them. The series follows House Targaryen in its prime, as it ruled over Westeros with an iron fist and throne.

With Season 2 of the spinoff dropping June 16, the cast has been promoting the premiere, and Mitchell revealed that he’s never seen the original series.

Mitchell continued, “I didn’t want it to inform my decisions in any way, shape, or form, you know, whether it be consciously or subconsciously. I wanted to bring something fresh. Aemond is one of a kind, you know.”

Taking cinema screens by storm, the sci-fi action genre has become a staple cash cow for Hollywood. However, on the other end of the coin, filmmakers with a vision have managed to turn it from a cash cow into some of the most astounding pieces of art ever. In the vast and intricate world of fantasy literature, only a few names resonate as profoundly as George R. R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien. Martin’s successful work on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, which inspired the hit TV series Game of Thrones, has taken inspiration from numerous popular fantasy works, one of which also includes Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

However, as much as he admires his work and admits that Tolkien has significantly influenced his work, Martin has also not refrained from openly sharing his criticism. However, despite his mixed feelings towards the author and his work, Martin has been humble enough to credit Tolkien for paving the way for the success of his own series.

It’s still early to say what the future will hold for yet another spinoff of Game of Thrones, but the universe’s actors appear to have already signed up for the project in their heads should they indeed be officially cast.

Storytelling has been a facet of social behavior since the days of fingerpainting on dimly lit cavern walls.
Hopefully, the grunting, scratching cave audience didn't bludgeon the artist to death with makeshift clubs when a bad story resulted.
Modern fans can get downright mean over aspects of their favorite series.
Sometimes, the showrunners acknowledge the outcry -- sometimes, they don't.
Netflix's The Witcher and Amazon Prime's Rings of Power are perfect examples of what happens when writers ignore the fans, with both seeing a drastic drop in viewership.
The Rings of Power ended the season with only a third of its original audience.
Then again, for every failure, there is a success story.
For the most part, Shogun stuck to the books and never had to face the wrath of the fans.
It doesn't take much to reason the rest of the way through this balancing act, with millions...

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Hugh Jackman is set to star in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie and I was not prepared for the synopsis. Let’s get right to it.
Based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller, the film follows George Hardy (Jackman), “a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night, he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, never suspecting that not only can they understand, but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The local cop Tim Derry, on the other hand, has never solved a serious crime in his life, so the sheep conclude they will have to solve it themselves, even if it means...

Out of all the dystopian future genres, cyberpunk might just be the most aesthetically unique and recognizable. While there aren’t too many movies and TV shows set in its dark, hopeless, and neon-lit reality, the ones that are out there are nothing short of iconic — and among them all, the Blade Runner movies are the ultimate royalty.
While this franchise only has two big movies, do not despair: a new mini-series is coming right up, and we have some fresh details about it.
Blade Runner 2099 Plot Revealed
An upcoming sequel to Blade Runner 2049, the 2099-set series has seen little to no official information released about it. Thankfully, scoopers are just as interested in it as we are, and recently, they returned with the news. The second season of House of the Dragon promises to be an exciting display of battle and gore. In the forthcoming season, the performers, reviewers, and fans can’t wait to watch their characters take on fresh obstacles and storylines. HBO received very positive feedback from the first House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere, which took place recently in New York City.
Critics are in awe of House of the Dragon Season 2
The expectations with the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel were just as high as its hype meter, and it is surely holding up just fine. Several industry experts and celebs were invited to the limited screening held on 4th June, and the reviews are out now. While Rotten Tomatoes rated Season 2 88% initially, it has been on the rise ever since, currently sitting at 93%. Most of the critics have also given a 4+ rating out of 5 after the premiere.

Zack Snyder‘s partnership with Netflix continues as the Rebel Moon director follows up his ode to Star Wars and Seven Samurai with a new anime from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation. Xilam Animation is responsible for such projects as Oggy and the Cockroaches, Zig & Sharko, and Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life for Disney+, all of which they’ve created and produced. Snyder’s new show, Twilight of the Gods, is an anime that he co-created that’s based on Norse mythology. Netflix has now released a first look at the new dark and violent limited series with previously unreleased images.

Game of Thrones went from being one of the most celebrated shows in recent memory to the poster child of how not to end a show and waste a decade’s worth of character development. While the initial part of the show is still considered some of the best that television had to offer in the 2010s, the ending of the show, five years on, still remains a sore topic for fans and audiences.
Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones || HBO
The conflicts and the environment that the show set up in its initial seasons were not congruent with the resolutions and solutions that were put forward in the finale of the series. Westeros was a country plagued by vassals having more power than they needed, which put the crown at risk. The solution would have been a stronger regime rather than an autocratic system of power.

The new Star Wars outing on Disney+ has the force on its side. Deadline is reporting that the new Jedi-centric show debuted with 4.8 million views on its first day. This makes The Acolyte Disney+’s biggest series premiere of the year. It is on track to overtake Ahsoka‘s performance of generating 14 million views in its first five days.
This bit of news comes as somewhat of a surprise since Disney+ doesn’t usually release streaming numbers after just the first day. The company announced Ahsoka‘s viewership after five days most likely due to the popularity of the character. Last December, the streamer announced numbers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians after its first six days. Other shows on the streamer don’t usually get their viewer numbers released unless they are rather good. Reporting the numbers for The Acolyte so soon after the premiere makes it seem like...

HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, returns for its second season in ten days, and the review embargo has now lifted.
Though most critics got to see all 8 episodes, some only got the first 2, which should be taken into account when reading through these verdicts.
Though reviews are still coming in, House of the Dragon season 2 currently sits at a very impressive 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Approaching its dynastic cataclysm with a deliberate stride rather than a charging gallop, House of the Dragon carefully sets up its emotional stakes to make the fiery spectacle all the more scorching," reads the Critics Consensus.
The cast - particularly Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen - come in for universal praise, as does the production values, VFX and intense action sequences (it sounds like season 2 ups the gore quota considerably), but some seem to feel that the story has a few issues,...

Now, the news is official. The show that launched a thousand undercuts and laid the foundations for Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer Oscar win is easily one of the most popular dramas of the past decade, and it’s no surprise the entertainment world went crazy after Nancy broke the story Tuesday that a Peaky feature film is indeed coming. As anticipation builds for the premiere of the highly awaited second season of House of the Dragon, fans take a notorious dig at a particular House Stark actor, Tom Taylor. Set to play Cregan Stark, the Lord of Winterfell in S2, Taylor has surprisingly garnered immense hate and criticism since his casting announcement.

Netflix unveiled first looks at a whole host of its upcoming animated shows and features during an event on Thursday, and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was on hand to introduce the first footage from his Norse Mythology series, Twilight of the Gods.
“I love mythology,” said the filmmaker. "On a scale like this, I feel like animation was the greatest way to tell the story.”
First announced way back in 2019, it's taken quite a while to find its way to our screens, but we recently learned that the show will finally premiere on Netflix this Fall.
The project has been described as "Anime-influenced," but judging by these clips, we'd say the animation style has more in common with the Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio.
“When most people think about animation, they think about Saturday morning cartoons, or G-rated movies,” said the presentation’s host, Christopher Sean. “But animation is...

Beverly Hills-based Cinema Management Group has closed a first round of distribution deals for the animated kids and family feature “Buffalo Kids,” screening in this year’s Annecy Presents section at the prestigious French festival.
Adapted from the short film “Cuerdas” (“Strings”), “Buffalo Kids” is a frontier tale about two recently orphaned Irish siblings. The duo emigrate to America, landing in the urban wilderness of New York City, where their uncle Niall was meant to pick them up. When Niall, who normally resides in California, is a no-show, the kids set out to try and find their distant kin. The latest news coverage in Hollywood has been more concerned with the resolution or escalation of the conflict between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan. Despite countless interviews and statements, the rumors whispering about Costner’s apparent return (or lack thereof) to Yellowstone have occupied our every waking hour.
But even in the middle of all the chaos, it becomes harder to hide the real reason behind the audience’s fierce attachment and loyalty to the Dutton patriarch.
Yellowstone [Credit: Paramount Network]With an almost sociopathic tendency in his character’s nature and a ruthless moral compass that moves its needle only when he commands it to, Kevin Costner’s terrifying character is quick to capture the audience’s hearts, simply based on historical evidence alone. Shows with characters as instinctively evil as John Dutton have been known to attract a higher percentage of viewers, and this has remained true since the days of The Sopranos.

The notorious Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss took their game to the next level with 3 Body Problem, their latest hard sci-fi TV show that recently premiered on Netflix. While D&d are getting props and great reviews from everyone, the celebrated author Stephen King has a little something to say about it, too — but it’s not just sheer praise from the King of Horror.
In fact, the famous writer largely preferred the previous adaptation that went criminally overlooked in America.

"House of the Dragon" was always going to live in the shadow of "Game of Thrones." The big question was how effectively it could operate in that shadow, and if it could carve out its own identity while weathering constant comparisons to the series that spawned it. The show's first season was an often remarkable proof of concept — yes, this was another show set in author George R.R. Martin's fantasy kingdom of Westeros, but it had its own flavor, its own tone. Spanning decades (and recasting several key characters halfway through the season as they aged up), it was a show operating at a sprint, hungry to prove itself, and hungry to prove itself entirely self-reliant, that it is its own show.
The funny thing about the long-awaited second season of "House of the Dragon," after all that grand distance established in the first outing, is how much it feels like "Game of Thrones.

Very few shows have ever caught my attention the way the world of Game of Thrones has the opening title sequence. The music hits, sending chills down my spine, knowing I am ready to be engulfed in this world of lies and deceit. We’ve waited close to two years to reenter the world of Westeros, but House of the Dragon has returned for a second season, and I’ve got so much to say about it.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Plot
King Viserys Targaryen’s death sent shockwaves through Westeros as a succession plan backfired in the face of Princess Thaenyra. Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war between the Black and Green Councils, fighting for Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon, respectively.

On House of the Dragon, there are prominent characters named Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, and Rhaena. There’s an Alicent and also an Alys. There are identical twins named Arryk and Erryk (both pronounced like “Eric”). There are references to multiple characters named Jaehaerys, and there’s also a Jacaerys, whose nickname is Jace, though you shouldn’t confuse him with a different character named Jason. And did I mention that Jason also has an identical twin?

The opening lines of “House of the Dragon” Season 2 stem from a character I’m not meant to name speaking of things that have no real bearing in the “Game of Thrones” universe. “Duty is sacrifice,” the man says. (I hope I can say he’s a man.) “It eclipses all things, even blood. All men of honor must pay its price.” Sorry to interrupt, good sir, but who are these “men of honor” you speak of? Are they hiding? Is HBO saving them for the next spinoff? Some are certainly dead, given the body count on which George R.R. Martin has built his brutal world, but there are scant few in “HotD” who fit the description. To be fair, the narrating man qualifies, and his colleagues also appear to be living a principled existence. But having seen nine seasons of heartless betrayals and maniacal power grabs, simply recognizing one...

The hectic inaugural season of House of the Dragon covered roughly 20 years as the long-standing peace under King Viserys came to an end. In the season’s final two episodes, the series found its footing, establishing the parallel claims to the throne between the Black faction that follows Viserys’s appointed heir, daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), and the Green faction under Rhaenyra’s former best friend, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), who follow Alicent and Viserys’s young, impetuous son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney).
All the table setting and time jumping that dominated the better part of the first season have, perhaps inevitably, set the stage for a much stronger second season for House of the Dragon. It’s also, especially for a Game of Thrones property, surprisingly restrained. The first four episodes made available to press cover only a few weeks, and the entire opening episode, “A Son for a Son,...

While a spiritual successor to Game of Thrones in many aspects from the general setting to political scheming as a crucial part of the plot, House of the Dragon has many noticeable distinctions from its mother show. However, the upcoming Season 2 will get rid of some of them, “leaning into the Game of Thrones formula,” star claims.
HotD Always Felt Smaller Than GoT
Perhaps the biggest and most obvious distinction between the two TV shows is their character roster. Game of Thrones followed multiple characters from different dynasties and origins, located at time across the world from each other — whereas House of the Dragon focuses solely on the Targaryen dynasty as its title implies.
This far more modest selection of main characters comes with its own consequences: namely, the fact that HotD doesn’t really show its viewers Westeros.

In the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, relationships are a flaming disaster. As these suppressed emotions finally start to surface, the Targaryen dynasty plunged into civil war. However, some interactions slipped right under our noses, one of which was between dowager Queen Alicent and her protector Criston Cole, which might surprise a lot.
Criston Cole and Alicent Hightower have s*x during the Blood and Cheese scene
As the House of the Dragon Season 2 release date slowly rolls closer, more tidbits are being revealed at promotional tours. The most recent one comes from an interview with Bgn, where Fabien Frankel revealed Criston Cole had s*x with Alicent. He said:
“[Criston Cole] is in there with Alicent when that’s happened. I mean, he should have been there standing sentry. Yeah. And he wasn’t.
I mean, it’s like one of the first lines that Aegon has to...
