Apple TV+ has now released the new tense trailer for Presumed Innocent, the limited series coming to the streaming service courtesy of David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams. The legal drama has Jake Gyllenhaal in for the fight of his life as he defends himself from allegations of murdering a peer with whom he shared a complicated entanglement. It doesn’t look good for Gyllenhaal’s character, as a plethora of evidence is working against him, and he can only continually profess his innocence.
The official synopsis reads,
“Gyllenhaal is set to star as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor whose world is upended when a close colleague is murdered — and the evidence begins to point to Rusty himself. The role would be his first ongoing part in a TV series. Presumed Innocent was previously adapted for a 1990 feature film that starred Harrison Ford as Sabich, along with Bonnie Bedelia and Raul Julia.

While HBO’s True Detective has till date amassed 4 successful seasons, it was its first iteration, released way back in January 2014, that initially thrust it into the mainstream. Starring Matthew McConaughey as Detective Rustin Cohle and Woody Harrelson as Detective Martin Hart, the dynamics between the two were one of the most obvious things that impressed fans.
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in True Detective | HBO
Still, McConaughey’s role, in particular, was the obvious highlight of Season 1, that of a troubled yet astounding detective who cannot help but concern his partner with his philosophical ramblings. The Wolf of Wall Street star in itself was the creator Nic Pizzolatto’s first choice for the role, although he had to jump through a considerable number of hoops in order to make this happen.
This included rejecting a number of actors that the studio suggested, and coming up with a creative strategy to get his man.

The Lincoln Lawyer star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has been cast in a fresh take on the Jurassic World films. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who led the $3.96 billion trilogy, will not be returning for the new film, directed by Gareth Edwards. While other prominent stars like Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey are also part of the film, it is highly unlikely that the film will make money like Pratt’s films.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will replace Chris Pratt in the next film in the Jurassic Park series after Jurassic World: Dominion
When it comes to the box office numbers of films, it almost appears that the Guardians of the Galaxy star is a money magnet. He has been part of a number of billion-dollar-grossing projects in recent times, including last year’s film The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

If you don’t have kids, you may not have heard of “Gabby’s Dollhouse.” If you have a preschooler, it has likely become a welcome upgrade from the “Cocomelon” of your child’s nursery school days.
No intended shade at “Cocomelon,” the other monster hit for Netflix in the kids space. “Cocomelon” is simplistic animation set to familiar nursery rhymes — it’s a low lift both in terms of production and consumption. “Gabby’s,” a combination of (a little) live-action and (a lot of) animation, is a child’s entry point into storytelling and imaginative play. It was for my kids — and millions of others.
For 2023, the top 5 children’s series on streaming ranked like this, per Nielsen:

A Man in Full is highly entertaining, which should be no surprise. The series is an adaptation from David E. Kelley, the brilliant mind behind Ally McBeal, Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, and HBO’s Big Little Lies. Kelley has been in the thick of television since the days of Doogie Howser, M.D.
Kelley brings his signature brand of strong characters, a blend of genres, and sharp dialogue that you need to figure out just how deep the cut goes. The bench of actors is deep (and the likes of directors Regina King and Thomas Schlamme) with stars Jeff Daniels and Bill Camp, who turn the whip-smart and clever wordplay into instantly memorable lines that stay with the viewer long after the episode is over.
You wish A Man in Full had taken the time to develop the highly ambitious source material into something that better reflects modern societal dilemmas.

Film adaptations are great, but sometimes nothing can do justice to a novel quite like a full-blown TV series. It provides all the visual possibilities of a movie along with the added benefits of a long runtime and a chapter-style episodic structure.
Shows inspired by books can be found across a broad assortment of genres, from the memoir-based Orange Is the New Black to legal series like The Lincoln Lawyer, fantasy like The Witcher, and period romance like Bridgerton, just to name a few. And while audiences are watching around the world, these adaptations can also spark renewed interest in their source material, with books returning to bestseller lists years or sometimes even decades after they originally hit shelves.

The famous movie starring Reese Witherspoon may be more than 20 years old, but Matthew McConaughey still accidentally gets all the fame for allegedly being in it, but he in fact never was.
Sweet Home Alabama, a 2002 romcom, also lists Josh Lucas among its main actors, though he doesn’t get too much credit just because of many fans’ common mistake.
The truth about the whole situation was recently revealed by Reese Witherspoon during her talk with People. The actress got to reminisce about her most astounding roles like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Annett in Cruel Intentions or her Oscar-winning performance as Johnny Cash’s wife June in 2005’s Walk the Line.
When Sweet Home Alabama was brought up, Witherspoon couldn’t help mentioning the funny incident that keeps haunting her co-star from other films, Matthew McConaughey.
The actress shared that her actual co-star from Sweet Home Alabama, Josh Lucas,...

"The Love Boat" holds a fascinating place in pop culture history. While most of the shows with reruns playing in heavy rotation today were in some way groundbreaking upon their initial release, "The Love Boat" is a novelty the likes of which modern TV rarely – if ever – tries to emulate. An anthology-like rom-com set aboard a cruise ship, "The Love Boat" featured a revolving door of guest stars and little connective tissue to speak of aside from the cast playing the crew aboard the ship.

Academy Award-winning producer Daniel Dreifuss (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) has boarded “Red Men,” the latest feature from Mexico’s Hari Sama, best known for his lauded autobiographical pic “This is not Berlin,” which world premiered at Sundance in 2019.
Described as an “edgy and provocative coming-of-age story” about the life of Austrian expressionist painter Egon Schiele, “Red Men” hones in on Schiele’s role in reshaping European aesthetics through his intimate relationship with lover and muse, Dominik Van Osen.
Their bond inspired Schiele’s pioneering Expressionist style while also compelling the young artist to confront his sexually fluid identity amidst repressive laws banning homosexuality in turn-of-the-century Vienna. This romantic saga delves into the emotional complexities of two artistic companions turned lovers, which drove Egon’s artistic vision while he struggled to navigate society’s norms. Apple has won a bidding war for Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
The streamer has handed out an eight-episode, straight-to-series order for the drama from David E. Kelley that comes with Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman attached to star. Margo is based on the forthcoming novel by Rufi Thorpe that landed with producers A24 after a bidding war in October for rights to the book. Kidman, Fanning — who will star as Margo — and her sister, Dakota Fanning, will also exec produce the series alongside Kelley, who serves as showrunner and reunites with the streamer following the upcoming Presumed Innocent (which he exec produces alongside J.J. Abrams).
As The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed in October, Margo’s Got Money Troubles had more than a dozen companies competing for the rights to the book about controlling your own narrative. Set for publication in June via HarperCollins imprint William Morrow, it revolves around Margo Millet,...

Netflix has unveiled the slate of TV series set to release new seasons in 2024, and some of the streamer’s biggest series are not on the list, delayed by the writers and actors strikes.
Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season, which just started production earlier this month, will not debut until 2025, making for a three-year gap between both Seasons 3 and 4 (due to the pandemic) and Seasons 4 and 5.
Given the extensive VFX work involved in the series, which was originally slated to start filming Season 5 in May, the delay is not surprising.
Ditto for the series that dethroned Stranger Things as Netflix’s most popular series, Wednesday, which is not scheduled to begin production on Season 2 until late April in a new location, Ireland, and breakout new 2023 drama One Piece, which also is yet to start filming on its second season.

On Monday, Prime Video subscribers who visited the platform were greeted with a new prompt: “Movies and TV shows included with Prime now have limited ads. You can upgrade to be ad free for $2.99 a month.”
After a swift click on “not now,” this viewer cued up one of the more successful titles currently gracing Amazon’s roster — the second season of beefcake vigilante drama Reacher. Interruptions, which included a spot for another series (Hudson & Rex, starring a German Shepherd detective) and a reminder from the folks at Intuit TurboTax that filing season has commenced, were indeed limited. But in an era where more and more viewers are culturally conditioned to be repulsed by ads on any broadcast but the Super Bowl, even limited spots are conspicuous.

In a report analyzing TV viewership in the U.S. throughout 2023, Nielsen found that “Suits” beat a record previously held by “The Office” for number of minutes watched in a single year.
The legal drama racked up 57.7 billion total minutes watched in 2023, putting it just ahead of the 57.1 billion minutes of viewership accumulated by “The Office” in 2020. When comparing total time watched, though, projects with more episodes and/or longer episodes stand at an obvious advantage. The entirety of “Suits” runs for about 83 hours, which would mean it had an easier time reaching that 57 billion-minute mark than “The Office” did with about 73 hours of content.
Still, both the old record and the new one speak to Netflix’s ubiquity in the streaming landscape. “The Office” aired its final episode on NBC in 2013 but continued to reach a huge audience until it was removed from Netflix at the start of 2021 and...
