On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump needed to be woken up by his lawyer, Todd Blanche, after he fell asleep during his New York hush money trial for the fourth time since the trial proceedings started.
“Trump is struggling to stay awake,” Susanne Craig, a reporter for The New York Times, wrote regarding Trump’s behavior during the trial. “His eyes were closed for a short period. He was jolted awake when Todd Blanche, his lawyer, nudged him while sliding a note in front of him.”
MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin reported that the former president’s lawyers are using tricks to keep him awake.
“I guess they have tried a number of different devices,” Rubin said. “Yeah, sleeping for a lot of it. I would say they’ve tried a number of different devices to keep Trump awake. Partially in response, or what appears to be in response to collective press corps observations.

The Little Couple alum Jen Arnold and the kids went exploring on the beaches at the Cape Peninsular which is about 60 miles from Boston, and they had a lot of fun. They also took their pup with them. The day looked cool and breezy, but that didn’t stop Will and Zoey from smiling.
Jen Arnold & The Family Enjoy The Ocean In Massachusetts
The Little Couple family moved from Florida when Dr. Jen was offered a position at the Boston Children’s Hospital. It’s been over two years now, but some TLC fans lost track of them because the show was canceled. Sad news arrived in 2022 because their pup, Rocky passed away, but they do still have other pets. And, the family grew a bit bigger with the addition of two bunnies named Gracie and Chocolate.

Helldivers 2‘s Malevelon Creek Memorial Day giveaway has sparked some bug-related issues. The propagators of managed democracy captured the Automaton-controlled Malevelon Creek in the Severon Sector on April 3.
However, several Helldivers fell in battle, and to commemorate their heroics, the president of Super Earth announced the day as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.
Anybody who logs into the game after April 3rd will find that the cape has been automatically sent to their armory. While there is no guarantee regarding how long the giveaway will last, it should be available at least until April 10th, 2024.

There's a popular quip among programmers, originally attributed to Bell Labs' Tom Cargill, which states that 90% of code accounts for 10% of development time, and the last 10% of code takes up the other 90% of development time. A similar rule applies in screenwriting, as "Community" creator Dan Harmon admitted when he addressed Donald Glover's claims that the script for the upcoming "Community" movie is complete.
"I can confirm Donald Glover's report that I told him the script was done, but I will also say Donald's sources are so unreliable because the script is always 'almost done,'" Harmon joked to Variety. Indeed, finishing a movie script is really only the first step. Just ask any screenwriter with a file name along the lines of moviescriptfinaldraft2FINAL_v4.pdf sitting on their computer.
So, with certain aspects of the "Community" movie still in flux, what is certain about it? "It's set on...

In 2019, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) accused the police in Nome, Alaska of "a systemic and disastrous failure" to protect Native women. The accusation came in the aftermath of the rape of an Inupiaq woman named Clarice Hardy, a case she claimed was not investigated thoroughly by law enforcement. The accusation came less than two weeks after an AP investigation was released following multiple complaints from Alaska Native women from Nome and the surrounding villages, all claiming that their reports of sexual assault were not "investigated aggressively."
A cursory Google search will bring similar reports from Indigenous communities across the globe. The National Crime Information Center reported that, in 2016, there were 5,712 reports of missing American Indian and Alaska Native women and girls. As Skidrow frontman Sebastian Bach sat down after a long day of metal rocking to enjoy some MTV, an energetic pretty boy suddenly appeared before the eyes of Bach. And all he could think was, “What the f*ck is a Bon Jovi and What the f*ck is with all those teeth?”, as smiling was not exactly considered cool amongst the metal-heads of the time. And we can’t forget Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider, who believes that he can pin point the exact moment that metal started to become less metal….when Bon Jovi smiled, creating what many like to call “happy metal”. While others say that Bon Jovi’s music brought a fresh new light to the genre causing millions of other smiles to spread throughout the world. Not being completely miserable and angry all the time was a bold controversial move in the world of rock...

Helena (Daisy Ridley), the title character of “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” is a woman living what she thinks is a safe, comfortable middle-class existence — just like the heroes of “Cape Fear” or “Straw Dogs.” And like those characters, she’s ripped out of her cocoon by a man with a vengeful agenda. In this case, the self-righteous stalker-invader is her father, Jacob (Ben Mendelsohn), who raised her in a cabin in the marshland wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, teaching her how to hunt and survive. In the film’s early scenes, we might almost be watching some off-the-grid version of the Laura Ingalls Wilder story, as Helena drinks in the woodland skills taught by Jacob, with each lesson marked by a homemade tattoo (he inks a deer on her neck when she gets her first kill).

With that in mind, here’s a brief look at some of the best (and worst) Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4‘s Season 2 update.

Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment and The Asian American Foundation on Wednesday unveiled the results of their collaborative study “Red Light, Green Light: Overcoming Roadblocks to Asian American Creative Executive Success in the Entertainment Industry.”
Topics explored in the survey included barriers to entry and promotions, day-to-day challenges, and factors that contribute to attrition and industry pivots for those working at entry, mid, and senior levels. The report also shares recommendations on how to improve the experiences of Asian American creatives in the industry and foster an environment that will allow Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander creative executives to thrive.
Key findings from the survey were as follows:
Respondents felt that their Asian American identity is a double-edged sword.Creative executives of Asian descent brought diversity and unique insights, but were also tokenized and seen as diversity hires. Asian American creative executives grappled with the expectations of...

It lasted only one season, but fans still mourn the demise of the sci-fi/western Firefly. As much as we love watching (and rewatching) the series, sometimes it's not enough.
Are you longing for a little more Captain Tight Pants? Want to see Zoe quietly kick some adversary's butt? Wishing you could revisit the Hero of Canton?
Well, we can't bring back Firefly -- oh, how we wish we could! -- but we can tell you where you can tune in to see the cast now.
If you can't get enough of the crew of the Serenity, read on to find out where you can see them now.
Ron Glass - Shepherd Derrial Book
Shepherd Book was the preacher with a cryptic past who boards the Serenity and befriends its crew. We loved Book's warmth and acceptance of his other crew members while still being able to hold onto his faith.

Over the past six years Quentin Dupieux has been working at Hong Sangsoo’s speed, churning out a film every few months. The streak kicked off in 2018 with the deranged police procedural Keep an Eye Out; since then the Frenchman’s trained his camera on a leather jacket with homicidal urges (2019’s Deerskin), an oversized fly-turned-bankable-pet (2020’s Mandibles), a married couple rewinding time through a tunnel in their new house (2022’s Incredible But True), and a team of leather-clad avengers ridding the world of monsters with the power of tobacco’s lethal substances (2022’s Smoking Causes Coughing). Tying these disparate projects isn’t just their director’s proclivity for the gonzo, but also a certain narrative economy. Dupieux––who’s written, directed, shot, and edited all his films since the 2010 breakthrough Rubber (in which a tire rolled through the U.S. on a killing spree)––likes to traffic in short,...

Yes, you still have time to get some reading done before the (ugh) end of summer. To help you get started, our latest roundup of noteworthy new books connected to the world of cinema features a packed lineup of gems. And there are even more recent books (including an epic list of new novels) that we will highlight in our next column this fall.
Before we dive in, though, a note regarding the late William Friedkin, who is referenced in two entries below: I would encourage readers to check out his 2013 memoir, The Friedkin Connection. He was, as you would expect, remarkably candid about his ups and downs, making for one of the more forthright filmmaker memoirs ever written.

As we have mentioned in the past, Chinese cinema has a knack of producing crime films that unfold in a distinct art house style, with titles like “Black Coal, Thin Ice”, “Mr Six”, and “Long Day's Journey into the Night” being among the first that come to mind. Cannes-favorite (all four of his movies have screened there) Wei Shujun returned in 2023 in the festival with, “Only the River Flows”, a movie that follows a similar approach.

‘The aliens are among us’ or so it seems from those that fear immigration or difference of any kind. “Keep watching the skies” during the original atomic fear is also a tagline in the more subtle version of The Thing From Another World (1951). The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) was an underrated third sequel to the Creature From The Black Lagoon series of films touching on themes of difference, adaptability and wanting to go home. Alien Conspiracies – The Hidden Truth (2023) isn’t an episode of The X-Files television series but a documentary film bringing into focus the idea that Earth has been invaded or influenced by an alien presence.

When Fuerza Régida frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz sat down with Rolling Stone late last year, a phone call from Myke Towers interrupted the interview. The night prior, the two had hit the studio in Miami.
“He said he fucks with my music,” Ortiz said at the time. “Hopefully we do a collab… We want to go global, but never forget about our roots.”
Now, that Towers-Fuerza Régida song is finally here. On Friday, the Mexican-American band and Puerto Rican star released “Pariente,” Towers’ first foray into corridos and Música Mexicana.

One of the most notable things about Polly Draper is her voice. The Company You Keep actress is easily recognizable because of her ‘throaty’ voice, which has been called her trademark since the 1980s. However, Draper is more than just her voice. Draper’s career includes numerous accolades, and it’s become a family affair for her. Over the course of her long career, Polly Draper has played vastly different characters. She’s not known to repeatedly take on the same role and call it a career. Draper challenges herself with each new role. From working with her family to challenging herself with...

In the second season of "Community" -- NBC's underdog sitcom about a group of friends at a mystifyingly quirky community college -- Abed (Danny Pudi) becomes obsessed with a little-seen NBC superhero show called "The Cape." Protesting against the insistence of Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) that the show is about to be canceled, Abed insists that he needs "The Cape" to continue for "Six seasons and a movie!" The phrase would become a rallying cry for "Community" devotees, desperately hoping that the sitcom, which often found itself making headlines for its lackluster ratings, would find a way to continue.
The show did ultimately make it to six seasons, and years after it went off the air, a movie was finally announced in 2022. Details are still scarce and the participation of certain actors remains up in the air, so a lot of fans may be revisiting the original run of...

Work-in-progress film project “The Remnant” is both a spotlight on those who feel powerless and also a very Hong Kong example of elements of the city pulling themselves up. “The Remnant” is one of the projects in the Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (Haf) unspooling March 13-15 alongside Hong Kong’s Filmart market.
It tells the story of a former gangster who, upon his release from prison, sets up a laundry in an anonymous district and lives a quiet life. After property developers try to grab a rundown building, young gangsters try to throw people out of the building, drug addicts cause trouble and the old-timer heeds his neighbors’ calls and fights back.
Director Kwan Man-hin (nickname: “Mandrew”) developed the fictional project from a previous documentary he made about a former Triad member who went straight and became a well-respected restaurateur in Hong Kong’s To Kwa Wan district.

Adrift are the stories of Hong Kong, a wavering sense of identity alongside an uncertain history. Memories fluid, imaginations of a drifting home.

When "six seasons and a movie" was first uttered on the sitcom "Community," it was merely a joke about the enthusiasm Abed (Danny Pudi) had for the NBC superhero drama "The Cape," professing what he believed was worthy for the show as he ran through the community college cafeteria wearing a cape. Ultimately, "The Cape" saw its first season reduced from 13 episodes to 10 and be unceremoniously canceled, never to be thought of again.
Rather quickly, "six seasons and a movie" became a mantra for "Community" fans because the show was constantly in peril of ending. To name a few pivotal events: creator and showrunner Dan Harmon was fired after season 3; season 4 saw its premiere delayed from October 2012 to February 2013; seasons were reduced from 22 episodes to 13; Harmon returned for season 5; several major cast members left the show; NBC canceled it after the fifth season; it effectively killed its new home, Yahoo!
