In a thrilling twist for long-time fans, Richard E. Grant’s Doctor has made a surprising return to Doctor Who. This return in the form of a holographic cameo has left the fandom buzzing and wondering where exactly this version fits into the Doctor‘s many lives. Previously seen in the 2003 online adventure Scream of the Shalka, Grant’s animated Doctor was intended to follow Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor but was later overshadowed by Christopher Eccleston’s portrayal during the 2005 revival. Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday‘s seemingly peaceful visit to a Regency-era ball in season 14’s episode titled Rogue unexpectedly...

Doctor Who Makes History With First Romantic Same-Sex Kiss Featuring Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor - Spoilers
This weekend's episode of Doctor Who, "Rogue," is generating a lot of discussion online. Why? Well, it features the franchise's first romantic same-sex kiss...and the Doctor is the one doing the smooching!
Ncuti Gatwa is the first queer actor to play the iconic sci-fi character and, with queer TV writer Russell T Davies back in charge of the series, we'd expected a trailblazing moment like this to make it into an episode sooner rather than later.
Now, it's finally happened as we see the Doctor fall in love with a man; gay actor Jonathan Groff's enigmatic Rogue.
As we first explained on SFFGazette.com, it begins with the Doctor and Ruby Sunday arriving at a Bridgerton-like ball, only for it to become clear there are alien shapeshifters causing chaos. Rogue, who many fans theorised could be the new Captain Jack (he isn't), is a bounty hunter tasked with bringing them in and,...

Warning: spoilers for Doctor Who series 14 episode 6 “Rogue”
Doesn’t the Tardis have a sniffer dog function? A pair of hi-tech space nostrils to which the Doctor can hold up a handkerchief or discarded glove and say ‘There, girl, get the scent!’? Somewhere on that flashy console must be the facility to scan a personal item, find the space coordinates of its owner, and bound off in pursuit, tongue out and tail wagging.
Perhaps this model only came fitted with the coffee machine as standard, because when Ruby asked if the Tardis could track down the Doctor’s latest love interest, played by Jonathan Groff, she was told no. “There are as many dimensions as there are atoms in the universe,” said the Doctor. “Don’t even know his real name.”
That makes two of them.

Just three episodes ago in “Boom”, the Doctor was trapped where he stood while a countdown ticked off the seconds until his death. In “Rogue”, he found himself in the same situation, but this time with the addition of a Kylie soundtrack and some excellent flirting.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 6 “Rogue.”] “Oh my Bridgerton.” Doctor Who leans into the fun of the Netflix series with its trip to 1813, and while the Duchess (Indira Varma) may start by looking for a match for Ruby (Millie Gibson), it’s the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) who has a fun (but heartbreaking) romance. The Doctor crosses paths with a bounty hunter Rogue (Jonathan Groff), with both thinking the other is responsible for a dead body; there are Chuldurs (shape-shifters) in their midst, and after the classic misunderstanding comes the bonding (on both their ships), almost kiss (on the Tardis), sweet moments (a dance), and heartbreaking separation (Rogue takes Ruby’s spot in a trap designed to transport the Chuldur to a random barren dimension). The presence of a character played by Susan Twist continues (this time a portrait), and we can’t help but wonder who Rogue’s new boss is,...

First things first: yes, that is her real name, or at least the one that she’s gone by professionally since 1980 (you can check the end credits on previous shows). Susan Twist is indeed the actor who has made a cameo appearance in every episode of Doctor Who this series, as well as the 2023 Christmas special and anniversary adventure “Wild Blue Yonder”.
That fact is worth establishing because “Susan Twist” is a ridiculously fun name for a Doctor Who actor to have. That’s because the show’s first season in 1963 introduced a 15-year-old character named Susan Foreman, the Doctor’s granddaughter. Susan was left behind on 22nd century Earth after falling in love with a local boy, and was told by the Doctor in 1964 episode “Flashpoint” that one day he would come back (though if he did, we never saw him do it).

If you needed to know who the Fifteenth Doctor is, then “Space Babies” told you: he’s not just the guy who saves the babies from the monster, he also saves the monster itself. That episode established the Doctor and Ruby as equal opportunities rescuers; not only extending the hand of help to the adorable, but also to disgusting creatures made of snot. “That’s what you do,” explained Ruby in the series 14 opener, “you save everyone.”
As hero manifestos go, it couldn’t have been clearer. And then… it instantly stopped being true. Over the course of the next four episodes, the Doctor didn’t save a soul.
In “The Devil’s Chord”, John Lennon and Paul McCartney struck the chord that banished Maestro. In “Boom”, the AI version of dead Vater infected the ambulance system and saved Ruby’s life.

With its list of new releases for June 2024, Disney+ isn’t going to beat the “only a Star Wars and Marvel streamer” allegations. That’s because there is just one major new release and it’s of the Star Wars variety.
Thankfully, Star Wars: The Acolyte, premiering on June 4, sounds pretty good! This series from Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is set during the end of the High Republic era and will follow a respected Jedi master (played by Squid Game‘s Lee Jung-jae) investigating a crime that brings him back into contact with his former Padawan (Amandla Stenberg).
Aside from that, Disney+ has little else going on this month. But a fresh Star War and more episodes of Doctor Who should be enough for most of us.
Here’s everything coming to Disney+ this June.

You won’t have to go to a galaxy far, far away in order to get the latest installment of the Star Wars story. Coming in June on Disney+, fans will be treated to the new series “The Acolyte,” which travels back to the end of the galaxy’s High Republic Era. In a similar vein, also coming to the platform in the new month are the final episodes of Disney+’s first season as the streaming home for “Doctor Who.” You won’t want to miss any of the action as the Fifteenth Doctor attempts to save time and space.
Throughout June, Disney+ will also celebrate the 90th birthday of Donald Duck and premiere a new preschool-aimed series based on the iconic “Little Mermaid” film. As always, Disney+ will premiere titles that appear to all members of the family.
The company’s flagship streaming service has two subscription options.

Next year will be 40 years since the premiere of Barry Levinson’s and Chris Columbus’ Young Sherlock Holmes, in which Nicholas Rowe (now 57) portrayed a young version of the famous detective. The screenplay was just based on Doyle’s original characters and was supposed to present the famous detective to a younger audience. And while we were promised a sequel, it never happened and the movie became a part of history, and still a much-beloved children’s film. But, it has been confirmed that we are going to go back to a younger Sherlock Holmes, although in a somewhat different format.
Namely, Amazon Prime has confirmed that an eight-episode series titled Young Sherlock has been ordered, with a tentative release date set for sometime in 2025, although details on the series are still scarce, we do – as you will soon see – have some important updates for you.

The storytelling process often blurs lines, enabling creators to weave their magic subconsciously, and this holds true for one brutal Henry Cavill scene from Man of Steel. Indeed, the film has intriguingly likely influenced an iconic X-Men ‘97 finale moment involving Rogue, as revealed by Beau DeMayo. Well, a few weeks ago, we got to know about Bastion’s genesis in Tolerance Is Extinction – Part 1, which actually sent waves of nostalgia and surprise through the DC fandom.

Marvel’s animated series for Disney+, X-Men ’97 has provided an acute picture of Rogue, an X-Men character long been ignored in the cinematic representation. Particularly, in the 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies where Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique got more preference over Anna Paquin’s Rogue.

It’s not that Rogue was completely out of the picture, X-Men makers definitely had the character in mind but the omission of her character was a pain for fans. Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has celebrated 10 year anniversary and Rogue could have been one important character in the movie but there was a reason why the director decided to leave her out of the theatrical version of the movie.

Diablo 4‘s “Loot Reborn” season is the game’s most significant update yet. While there are so many individual aspects of that update that are worth diving into, many of them are designed to impact the power level of the game’s five classes in direct and indirect ways. Nearly a decade ago, Oscar-winning cinematographer Greig Fraser was hanging out at one of Roger and James Deakins’ famous barbecues when he was introduced to a French-Canadian man he didn’t immediately recognize. But as soon as he put a face to the name “Denis Villeneuve,” he instantly called to mind two of the filmmaker’s critically acclaimed Canadian films, Polytechnique (2009) and Incendies (2010), as well as his American debut, Prisoners (2013), that he shot with the co-host of that day’s festivities, Roger Deakins. So Fraser and Villeneuve got to know each other that day, before going their separate ways for a few years.
During the intervening time period, Fraser photographed a handful of projects including the first Star Wars spinoff film, Rogue One (2016), as well as the first live-action Star Wars series in The Mandalorian. And then, in 2018, Villeneuve reached out regarding the Dp position on his forthcoming adaptation of...

The show has been producing almost weekly episodes since 2013 and has covered plenty of "Star Wars" news, and Hidalgo and Martin, among others, have been frequent guests on the podcast over the years.
Hidalgo spoke to my co-host Holly Frey ("Stuff You Missed in History Class") in a wide-ranging interview about his work with Lucasfilm and on "Star Wars". As someone who is intimately involved with the storytelling process at Lucasfilm, Hidalgo elaborated on how that works and what he really does. He's been working at Lucasfilm for over 20 years and was on set for most of the prequels and was even in charge of the revolutionary web-cam that was on set for "Attack of the Clones.

Mannara Chopra, who captivated audiences with her roles in films like Sai Dharam Tej’s 2016 movie “Tikka” and Puri Jagannadh’s directorial movie “Rogue” has been away from the Tollywood spotlight for a couple of years. But a recent social media post has fans buzzing with the hope of her return
Dressed in a stunning blue saree that drapes elegantly around her figure, Mannara exudes timeless beauty. Silver earrings add a touch of sparkle, while a black sleeveless blouse hints at a modern twist on the traditional attire.
Her open hair cascades down her shoulders, framing her face accentuated by bold orange lipstick and matching eyeliner. The subtle makeup keeps the focus on her natural beauty, and the vintage backdrop adds a touch of mystery and intrigue.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
Seldom have audiences been treated to a “requel” as exceptional as X-Men ‘97. Critics and fans alike have had nothing but praise for the show, and how it has taken a Saturday morning staple and elevated almost every aspect of production, storytelling, and acting.
When other reboots attempt to cater to a mixed-generation audience, they often have to let the legacy characters (those actors from the original property) share screen time with a new generation. X-Men ‘97 was in a unique position to bring back the original voice cast as if no time had gone by whatsoever.
Lenore Zann, returning as the sassy southerner Rogue, has had plenty of time to evolve outside of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, and that has given her a new perspective on portraying the iconic X-Woman, especially as the character herself has changed. In X-Men ’97, Rogue...

X-Men ’97 is already nailing everything and scoring an eternal place in its viewers’ hearts, with more than 90% of audiences and nearly 100% of critics impressed by the immaculate way this story has been helmed. Plus, this saga doesn’t seem to want to stop anytime soon, because it already has a season 2 greenlit while the first one still airs, meaning there’s more peak entertainment incoming.
X-Men ’97.
That being said, this peak entertainment could also bring about the possible event of the mutant superheroes fending off against the earth’s mightiest heroes, i.e. the Avengers. And while that is yet to be officially confirmed, Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Professor X in this animated series, has ignited the hope of that happening, nonetheless, with some really relatable reasoning.

George Lucas, who established the Star Wars franchise with iconic films like A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, has not been directly involved with the film series for over a decade. However, it has not refrained him from sharing his views, as the filmmaker openly expressed his disappointment with the lack of originality in the 2015 film The Force Awakens.

Kevin Costner’s appearance in the final Yellowstone episodes remains undecided. One of the prime attractions of the series was certainly the cowboy John Dutton, played by Costner, who apparently had a lot of female fans. Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, shared that he couldn’t believe the amount of love he got from the female fans of the Paramount series.

X-Men ’97 has had massive success among the Marvel fans. The animated series, which is a revival and continuation of the ’90s X-Men show, has generated immense hype. However, it has also attracted very strong criticism regarding the character of Rogue. The fans did not appreciate how the show pulled off some insane de-sexualization of the curvaceous figure of Rogue.
Rogue in X-Men ’97
Since the first trailer dropped, many fans who found their first love in Rogue in the 90s complained on the internet that her physique was drastically changed in the new animation. In some scenes, Rogue’s butt looked extremely flat. However, the Rogue voice actress, Lenore Zann, seems to have found the perfect way to address the criticism by paying homage to the iconic “America’s Ass.”

Marvel has been through a lot of ups and downs post-Endgame. After a series of bombs at the box office, things are finally looking hopeful for the comic book giant after taking a back-to-basics approach. Bringing back the beloved X-Men cartoon from the 1990s was a slick move, as it brought back a lot of fans who had lost faith after consecutive failures like The Marvels and She-Hulk.

Fascinatingly, X-Men ’97 is not the first show with a rumored Spider-Man cameo this year. However, it is much more likely that Marvel’s Web-head would be able to make an appearance in the X-Men successor series given that Marvel might not have to jump hoops to bring him into X-Men ’97.
Marvel famously has to share its rights with Sony when it comes to Spider-Man, splitting his rights to appear in live-action films. There was a lot of anticipation about how the character might appear in Amamzon’s Invincible, but that was quickly sidestepped thanks to the hoops the show might have to go through to make that happen.

While bringing Spider-Man over to any superhero live-action project is a litigation nightmare for Marvel, it seems that that is not the case...

The new animated Marvel series X-Men 97′ is the long-awaited follow-up to the popular 1990’s X-Men: The Animated Series which initially aired from 1992 – 1997 and became the first show in the Marvel Animated Universe. While many were skeptical leading up to the premier, the show has so far given viewers plenty of fan service.
One interesting homage was revealed for the series’ fourth episode titled “Motendo; Lifedeath, Pt. 1“. The scene depicts Jubilee and series newcomer Roberto De Costa aka Sunspot. The two are seen teleported into a video game titled “X-Men: The Rise of Jubilee” on a giant monitor in front of a large audience.
The two are loaded into a stage that resembles the Days of Future Past storyline, and Jubilee then takes action to battle some sentinels. The screen then bans back to show a classic arcade beat ’em up sprite style of the action with the crowd cheering.
