Exclusive: Veteran animated comedy writer-producer David Goodman has signed a new overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV where he has been for the past decade and a half. Goodman has spent most of that time working with 20th TV-based uber producer Seth MacFarlane — eight years on the animated Family Guy, where Goodman rose to executive producer/showrunner, and currently consulting on live-action freshman Dads. Additionally, Goodman co-created and served as showrunner on 20th TV’s animated comedy Murder Police, which was picked up to series by Fox but will not air; developed/ran the studio’s Fox animated series Allen Gregory; and served as a co-executive producer on 20th/Fox’s Futurama. “David is someone we’ve been in business with for 15 years, and quite simply, we can’t imagine being in business without him,” said 20th TV chairman Dana Walden. “He’s worked on nearly every animated series we’ve ever made,...

We all know Fox has a reputation of being a little trigger happy when it comes to cancelling programs. Well this newest cancellation news probably takes the cake. Fox has cancelled their new animated comedy Murder Police…before a single episode has aired.
Murder Police was a detective satire which followed an inept detective and his cop co-workers as they attempted to solve crimes. The voice cast included Jane Lynch, Chi McBride, Will Sasso, and Phil Lamarr.
Murder Police was intended to fill a slot in Fox’s Animation Domination but after viewing a few early cuts of episodes and reading the upcoming scripts, the decision was made to pull the plug. Apparently they’ll try shopping the series around to basic cable networks but I can’t see any of them taking the bait after this news. It either had to be really really bad…or just really different,...

Demonstrating the sort of efficiency that, when avoided, makes for a natural police comedy, Fox has already gotten rid of its new animated series Murder Police months before the show has even aired. The cartoon from Family Guy producer David A. Goodman was the first new addition to the network’s Animation Domination lineup since Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite, two shows that ran for months before finally being scrapped. But Fox president Kevin Reilly didn’t waste any precious Sunday nights giving the network’s newest animated series a chance to be punted around the lineup before being shunted ...

Murder Police is Dba: dead before arrival.
Fox has killed its new animated comedy before the first airing. The series, about an inept detective and his cop co-workers, was set to star Jane Lynch (Glee), Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies) and Phil Lamarr (Futurama).
The cancellation comes on the heels of other animation-related Fox news: the record-setting renewal (Season 26!) of The Simpsons, a fifth-season order for Bob’s Burgers and American Dad‘s move to TBS next season.
TVGuide.com reports that execs were displeased with early cuts of the show, but may try to shop it to cable networks.

Fox won't be airing Murder Police after all. The animated series had been expected to debut later this season and run on Sunday nights as part of the network's Animation Domination block of programming.
According to TV Guide, executives weren't happy with early cuts of the show and have now cancelled plans to air the series. Fox ordered 13 episodes but apparently only bits and pieces have been finished thus far. The show's producer, 20th Century Fox TV, plans to complete the episodes and shop it to cable stations.
Murder Police revolves around an inept detective Donel (Wilmer Valderrama) and his misfit co-workers. The rest of the voice cast includes Jane Lynch, Will Sasso, Chi McBride, Peter Atencio, Justina Machado, and Jason Ruiz.
What do you think? Would you have tried watching this show?...

The folks at "Murder Police" have an important homicide to solve -- their own.
The animated series, originally picked up by Fox for 13 episodes, won't air on the network after all, TV Guide reports. Instead, producer 20th Century Fox TV aims to shop the series around to cable networks.
Insiders tells TV Guide that Fox execs weren't happy with early cuts of the show, resulting in the show losing its spot on the net's 2013-14 schedule. As such, the studio will begin the hunt for a new precinct for the law enforcement-skewering series once more complete episodes are available to screen for the potential buyers.

It’s like the TV programming version of Minority Report: Fox is trying to stop a flop before it happens.
The network has axed plans to air previously announced 13-episode animated series Murder Police, which starred the voice talent of Wilmer Valderrama, Jane Lynch, Will Sasso and Chi McBride.
Fox reportedly wasn’t thrilled with the quality of the episodes coming in and cut Murder Police from its midseason Sunday night schedule. Studio 20th Century Fox Television plans to shop the project to cable. Fox recently renewed long-running hit The Simpsons for a 26th season, while American Dad is set to depart for TBS.

For the first time ever, "How I Met Your Mother" will be at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2013. The CBS sitcom is one of 11 shows produced by 20th Century Fox Television that will feature at the big event. Other programs expected to have panels include "Bones," "The Simpsons," "Sons of Anarchy" and the new series, "Sleepy Hollow."
Most of the shows included on the list are Sdcc veterans, but "Himym" is a big exception to that. As a sitcom, it's not exactly standard fare for the big festival of all things nerdy. But the convention has increasingly become about promotion -- and "How I Met Your Mother" can use that going into its 9th and final season. The full "Himym" cast -- Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan -- are scheduled to attend, along with executive producers Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Pamela Fryman.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the second announced yesterday. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on Fox.
While "The Following" proved a breakout winner, Fox had few success stories last season. So, it is going a bit more ambitious this year with numerous dramas, comedies and one-off "event series".
Several pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen including the family of government-sanctioned assassins drama "Boomerang," the adaptation of Lauren Oliver's book trilogy "Delirium" about a world where love is illegal, the legal interns workplace comedy "To My Assistant," the U.S.S. Lexington-set "The Wild Blue," and "The List" about the hunt for a thief who stole a file containing the secret identities of people in the Witness Security Program,

Fox has one of its better slates coming your way with the new season, especially if you take the midseason shows into account. Some of these shows may not jump out at you now as must-see, but some of them are going to take over, if I’m any judge anyway.
Clear showcase offerings Dads, Almost Human, and Us & Them are guaranteed to take off early. Almost Human has J.J. Abrams recognition to pull people in, though it looks to be a show that could flounder after a few episodes, even if I hope it doesn’t. The other two are going to become hits. Unfortunately, we have to wait until mid-season for the Gavin & Stacey remake.
Rake also looks like a winner, as long as the translation can be made to work as an Americanized product, and the show actually delivers what made the Australian original so brilliant.
