Televised from the London Palladium, with The Queen mother and Princess Margaret in the audience. As usual, Her Royal Highnesses went backstage to greet the performers at the end of the show.
The Queen Mother loved so much the show The Golden Girls, that she wrote to the actresses to asked them to perform a live show especially for her. They obliged, and acted out an episode in which the girls visit London on stage in front of the queen and her family. It included classic lines such as Blanche's first love. Sophia's last line was referring to "an expensive chair" in the audience, in pure Sophia style.
At the end the show, The Queen mother greeted the girls backstage. They were dressed to the nines, including Estelle Getty who had removed her white wig and makeup that makes her 20 years older, to play Sophia.
