Left Behind (2000)
THE OMEN MOVIES WERE MORE BELIEVABLE THAN THIS
Another brilliant MIS-INTERPRETATION of the scriptures by money making hacks. The erroneous premise is based on the fact that the Rapture will take away all Christians and only the wicked will be left behind. WRONG God will separate the wheat from the chaff. So these smug Christians aren't going anywhere. They get to stay and play with the Antichrist to prove themselves worthy. The film is amusing but not too believable. People are so despirate in their mediocrity that will accept any kind of crap presented to them. Plus I have never been a Kirk Cameron fan.
Romantic Comedy 101 (2002)
VERY FUNNY FILM
I had to watch it twice, but after doing so found it to be a refreshingly funny comedy. It is the basic CLASSIC LOVE TRIANGLE with a mixture of humor, sadness, and craziness. Joey Lawrence again proves to be a very versatile actor who is able to adapt to any role given to him. He is great as the "player" Mark who can't keep his eyes on one woman. The plot gets more and more involved as two best friends fall for the same girl. It is a fun romantic film for lovers. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Brothers of the Frontier (1996)
A wonderful Family Movie
I had not seen this movie until yesterday. Again the dynamics between the Lawrence brothers takes center stage in this story of Pioneer life. The family is forced to leave their homestead when they are forced off by a land baron. The sons get separated from their parents and undergo a series of adventures. This movie is great because it shows how people really had to struggle in the old days with no tv's, computers, or cell phones. It is a just great movie for the family to watch together.
Jumping Ship (2001)
really good family movie
The Lawrence Brothers are probably the best comic actors around. They work so well together and they they are genuine is what makes the movie work. The plot is outlandish, but the Lawrence Brothers make it work well. They take a crazy story and make it believable. Disney should release this film on video and DVD.
Do You Wanna Know a Secret? (2001)
Slice and Dice
The movie could have been a bit more suspenseful, but it was a typical slasher film. The only serious acting in this was Joey Lawrence, the rest of cast was boring. I recall Joey commenting on this film as saying it was just a summer project. So I don't think he even expected anything serious out of this movie. Although Joey has said that horror films are some of his favorite movies, I don't think this one will be a classic anytime soon.
Horse Sense (1999)
great family movie
The Lawrence Brothers are really good when it comes to comedy. Joey has come a long way since Blossom. He plays a real snobby rich jerk that eventually is forced to face the hard realities of life. His brother Andy is great as his cousin in this film. It is an emotionally good film and I hope Disney will get busy and release it on video and DVD.
Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000)
not quite a sequel
I enjoyed the first Urban Legends it was quite funny and exciting. The second movie is not exactly a sequel, the only element from the first first movie is the sweet security guard Ms. Reese. Other than that various film students are at each others throats to gain the Hitchcock award. The two most notable actors are Joey Lawrence and Jennifer Morrison. Old veteran actor Hart Bochner is also in this film. If you like horror films than you won't be disappointed. The DVD comes with a lot of extras including a gag reel which is pretty funny in itself.
Desperate But Not Serious (1999)
pretty funny
It was one of those movies that you strictly for fun. If you are trying to watch for Oscar winning performances than forget it. It is a movie that you just want to escape the daily routine and watch. The best performance is Joey Lawrence as a stoner movie star, pretty amusing.
Tequila Body Shots (1999)
excellent
A great readaptation of the old Greek myth of Orpheus set in contemporary time. This movie has all the elements of a great story, love, death, reincarnation, spiritualism, and of course, just plain fun. The actors are well cast and they interact great. The DVD has extra discussions with the cast, crew, and director. It is a great movie especially for the Halloween season.
Prince for a Day (1995)
Another great Disney film
A modern adaptation of Mark Twain's the Prince and the Pauper. Joey Lawrence plays a dual role as a rock star and a pizza delivery boy. When they both meet, they exchange places. Thats when the fun really begins. The movie is genuinely funny and is great for the whole family. Again Disney needs to get busy and release it movies on video and DVD.
Brotherly Love (1995)
A really great family series for TV
It is too bad the show was canceled. There is so much crap on TV as it is. This show at least dealt with real life situations and all three of the Lawrence Brothers starred in it. The dynamics between the brothers is what made the show. They work so well together, and I hope in the future that they can get another show together.
