The Omen (1976)
Overrated, dull, and full of unintelligent characters
It started off okay with Damien's birthday party where the first death occurs but soon went downhill after that. The lead actor (Gregory Peck) has the same poker face expression throughout the movie which made it even worse. Priest got impaled? Pregnant wife pushed off balcony by son then dying in the hospital? The actor doesn't show any remorse at all. He deliberately ignores everyone and their fears (be it the priest or his wife) despite knowing the facts. Even at the end, he tries to sympathize with the son of Satan and throws away the dagger. Damien (Harvey Stephens) and Mrs. Baylock (Billie Whitelaw) were the only good actors worth watching it for. Honestly a waste of time.
Clickbait (2021)
Need to turn your brain off to enjoy
Interesting concept but poor execution. The main characters are all unlikeable and the acting is terrible and expressionless. Lots of weird dragged out scenarios that don't make sense or contribute to the main plot.
I don't get why that entire episode on detective Roshan and his family life was needed at all when he didn't really play that much of an important role in the investigation overall. Sarah's brother had no strong motive to make a grand online spectacle of some guy his sister has never met. The main guy Nick disappears while going to work and we never even get to see what his workplace life and his colleagues were like until the very end. Also weird no detectives bothered to cross examine his work friends or their phones/computers. Don't even get me started on the silly twist at the end that looked like it was made up just for the sake of unpredictability. Unrealistic and strange to say the least. How tf does an old lady catfishing drive several women crazy to the point they are realistically imagining themselves having sex with a fake profile? Why would Emma go this far and involve herself with the police in another state for some "guy" she texted online? Endless stupidity galore.
Dune (2021)
Overhyped snoozefest
Didn't read the book/novel. I decided to watch this movie only because of the rave reviews its sequel, Dune 2, was getting. 30 minutes in, I was bored to death and went to sleep. Thinking I should give it another shot, I forced myself to finish it in 2-3 sittings. All I could figure was a cool desert planet. No backstory or explanation. The characters were bland. The dialogues were meh. No proper storyline or twists in the plot. The "entertainment" aspect was completely missing. I would rather watch a desert documentary on YouTube. Decided not to see the sequel in theaters. Hollywood really seem to love mediocrity these days.
The Outsider (2020)
Bit boring towards the end but a good series nonetheless
It is a slow burner so may not be for everyone. The beginning was exciting, but the pacing took a hit towards the end.
The main character was too bland for my taste. He tried to act too over smart/ignorant af despite being aware of everything. It felt very tropey.
Holly carried the entire show and kept me going until the end.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
A fine addition to the Conjuring series, better than the 2nd one!
Went in with low expectations but the movie proved to be a pleasant surprise and yet another fine addition to the series. The characters, the atmosphere everything remain true to the original as we know it.
For me, it was better than the 2nd movie with more depth in the characters and storyline.
Though it still felt short on the scary department but had enough to keep me hooked on till the end. Definitely recommended for fans of the Conjuring series.
Haikyû!! (2014)
Blew me away!
This is my first ever anime series and I'm happy I got to catch up on this gem of a show! Though I hardly play sports nowadays but it revived my interest in athletics. It has all the emotions, great story and likable characters. It shows how to have passion for something you love and how it can take you to great heights! It's all about doing what you love and have a burning desire to excel in it.
It inspired me that failure can be a stepping stone to success, importance of teamwork, believing in your abilities and ignoring your imperfections at the same time.
PS Eagerly waiting for another season!
Inside Out (2015)
Could've been a lot better!
Wow, I'd waited long to see this movie after so much hoopla been created over it since months. But BAM, it turned out to be a big let down! It just doesn't live up to the hype. It's an 'okay' type movie. And, how'd it get 8+ on IMDb, I'll never know. I guess there's a bias towards Disney movies. It stands somewhere near '6' or something. Little kids may enjoy it but only if they get the concept. Those who'll get the concept, won't enjoy it. So, overall, you can skip this one. Or, watch it at home at the most. I'd rather watch an old Japanese animation than this one. There are so many good movies by studio ghibli that never get old and boring even if you watch them again and again. And, I heard they have recently put out what is possibly their last movie "When Marnie Was There". I haven't watched that yet. So, now is probably the time!
