Bruce Springsteen, “The Boss,” is one of the best rock singers in history. A pioneer of rock music, Springsteen has contributed to several subgenres of rock, with his music and his lyrics portraying the life and troubles of the “common people” in the United States. And while his music is undoubtedly majestic, his lyrics generally had a social note that made him stand out among the tough competition in the rock music market. Now, when Hollywood is actually making a lot of musical biopics, the time has come to make a film about Bruce Springsteen as well, and we already have some interesting casting updates.
The movie is going to be titled Deliver Me From Nowhere and will actually focus on the process of making Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, which means that it will portray both the musician and his longtime manager, Jon Landau.

The honorable Klingon Kurn (Tony Todd) first appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Sins of the Father". In that episode, he revealed that he was the long-lost little brother of Worf (Michael Dorn), the only Klingon in Starfleet. Kurn had been living under a fake name, as his and Worf's father had been (falsely) accused of betraying a camp of Klingons to the Romulans years before. In Klingon society, a son is just as guilty as their parent, hence the episode's title. The crime in question was actually committed by the father of a character named Duras (Patrick Massett), who had covered up the crime and was now poised to sit on the Klingon High Council.
Rather than accuse a potential Klingon ruler of malfeasance and potentially throw the entire Klingon Empire into a civil war, Worf chose to keep all this secret. He instead allowed his...

In every generation, there is a chosen one… who inspires hours upon hours of entertainment. Twenty years after the series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Buffyverse is still expanding, with the franchise’s first-ever audio drama on the way. The upcoming Audible production Slayers: A Buffyverse Story reunites Buffy stars James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, Danny Strong, James Charles Leary, and Juliet Landau for “a fresh story and a new world, filled with horror, heart, humor, and surprises at every turn,” as Audible said in a press release. Written by Benson and Christopher Golden — more on him later — Slayers follows vampire Spike (Marsters) into a parallel reality where Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers never existed and Cordelia (Carpenter) is the one and only Slayer. And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a big problem named Drusilla (Landau)… That audio drama premieres...

Calling all Scoobies — it's time to return to Sunnydale and catch up with all of our favorite demon-fighting, vampire-slaying heroes. Audible is releasing a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" original audio story set 10 years after the finale of the beloved television series with a number of the original cast members reprising their roles. The series had previously been continued in Dark Horse's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comics, though those aren't considered to be canon by many, and this new audio original could be the first canon entry in the Buffyverse for two decades.
"Slayers: A Buffyverse Story" was written by original cast member Amber Benson, who played witchy Tara, along with horror writer Christopher Golden, who authored numerous "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" novels, so fans should have no concerns about the audio original's authenticity. Joseph L. Mankiewicz’ “Cleopatra,” which opened in New York on June 12, 1963 and in Los Angeles a week later, was not a flop. In fact, the 243-minute film was a box office champ making $26 million at the box office, $6 million more than the Cinerama epic “How the West was Won.” But being the most expensive movie of its time — the budget ended up being around $44 million which would be around $429.5 million in 2023 — it took a long time to recoup its staggering costs. The film was such a drain on Twentieth Century Fox, the studio ended up having to sell nearly 300 acres of its backlot. That acreage was transformed into Century City.

Born in 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, Landau first came to the attention of movie audiences with a villainous role in Alfred Hitchcock‘s “North by Northwest” (1959). After decades of bit roles in B-movies and guest spots on TV (including playing a bad guy on “Columbo”), Landau enjoyed a major career comeback thanks to Francis Ford Coppola‘s “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” (1988), for which he won the Golden Globe and earned his first...

Robert Rodriguez maintains hope that an 'Alita: Battle Angel' sequel will be made. The 54-year-old filmmaker directed the 2019 cyberpunk action movie and is optimistic that the story could be continued as projects now seem to be moving forward again following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in the same year.Quizzed by Collider on any developments, Robert said: "I mean, movement other than us talking about it? "You know, I just wasn't sure it was ever gonna happen because even when the first movie came out, Disney had just bought Fox, so even our marketing people, everybody, were gone by the time that movie came out. And then there wasn't any Fox movies being made for years because Disney was still busy making their own Disney stuff."But now I've seen some Fox movies come out, so that gave me hope."The 'Spy Kids' director added: "And then when Jon mentioned that,...

Alita: Battle Angel was meant to kick off a brand-new franchise, but the underwhelming box office, mixed reviews, and Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox cast doubt on a sequel. The film has assembled quite the following, and the cast and crew have all expressed their willingness to return for more. Franchise producer Jon Landau recently teased to ScreenRant that they’re “working on” the Alita sequel, and director Robert Rodriguez confirmed that he has been discussing it with Landau and James Cameron.
“Yeah, we have been talking about it, so we would love to make one,” Robert Rodriguez told Total Film, but he added that nothing is guaranteed. “We haven’t set it for sure yet, but we’re definitely hoping to and talking about it a lot. They’re slammed with all the Avatar stuff, but they’ve definitely been engaging in it.“

When Avatar opened in December 2009 — en route to becoming the biggest movie of all time, topping 2.8 billion at the global box office — for many movie goers, it was the first time they experienced digital 3D. Now, filmmaker James Cameron and producer Jon Landau will reintroduce audiences to their groundbreaking movie with a stunning, newly-remastered version for today’s cinemas.
Starting Friday, audiences will return to a Pandora full of vivid details and colors that they didn’t see the last time the movie was in cinemas, back when many theaters were equipped with first generation digital cinema projectors paired with new 3D systems. And for younger movie goers, maybe this is the first opportunity to experience Pandora in 3D on a big screen. Cameron and Landau’s Lightstorm Entertainment remastered the film in 4K in a high-dynamic range, with select scenes at 48-frames-per-second.

Turns out James Cameron got some of his material from the “Material Girl” herself.
The “Avatar” writer/director was inspired by Madonna’s microphone placement during her concerts and found himself “Hung Up” on the concept of staying close to actors during action sequences.
“Avatar,” which will be re-released in theaters September 23 ahead of the sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water,” premiered in 2009 with Sam Worthington starring as a former Marine who travels to planet Pandora and falls in love with a Na’vi woman, played by Zoe Saldana. The lush world of Pandora and its linked Avatars were best suited to be showcased onscreen with the same action as Madonna’s onstage performances.
“If Madonna can be bouncing around with a microphone in her face and give a great performance, we thought, ‘Let’s replace that microphone with a video camera,'” producer Jon Landau told The New York Times.

Disney and 20th Century confirmed Tuesday that James Cameron’s award-winning movie Avatar — still the top-grossing film of all time — will return to theaters nationwide and overseas on Sept. 23 in remastered 4K High Dynamic Range.
The rerelease of Avatar comes three months before the highly anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water hits the big screen around the globe, including on Dec. 16 in North America.
Avatar is the top-grossing film of all-time at the worldwide box office, collecting 2.84 billion in ticket sales.
Comscore box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian says playing the original film will help provide a marketing tailwind ahead of the sequel. “Disney sees a benefit in rereleasing the movie as a reminder to fans in North America, most of whom have not seen the all-time global box office champ since its special-edition release almost 12 years ago,” says Dergarabedian.

Disney kicked off its CineEurope presentation in Barcelona today with 12 minutes of footage from July’s Marvel fourquel Thor: Love And Thunder, and throughout the show teased trailers and looks at its other upcoming titles including four never-before-seen scenes from James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of Water.
Ahead of the Thor footage, Disney’s Head of Global Theatrical Distribution Tony Chambers stressed the importance of immersive storytelling and the studio’s “robust, diverse slate” which kicked off about 60 minutes of footage that was then introduced by Emea Head of Theatrical Distribution Nick Rush and Emea Head of Studio Marketing Lee Jury.
There were pre-recorded messages from the likes of Marvel boss Kevin Feige who noted that even after 14 years it “feels like we’re just getting started.” Thor star Chris Hemsworth lamented not being in Barcelona for the sangria which “always tastes better” in the Spanish town as he...

The only Oscar that Samuel L. Jackson has ever won is an honorary statue, but the acting icon doesn’t mind considering he’s spent over 10 years and counting playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe stalwart Nick Fury. As Jackson told the Los Angeles Times, he’d rather make billion dollar-grossing Marvel movies than win Oscars or chase down Oscar-baiting roles.
“As jaded as I wanted to be about it, you know thinking, ‘Well, I should have won an Oscar for this or should have won for that and it didn’t happen,’ once I got over it many years ago, it wasn’t a big deal for me,” Jackson said. “I always have fun going to the Oscars. I always look forward to getting a gift basket for being a presenter. [Laughs] I give stuff to my relatives; my daughter and my wife would take stuff out. It’s cool…But otherwise,...

Cheyenne Jackson is adding producer to his resume. The actor and singer has quietly launched a production company, Shiny Boy Entertainment, with his husband Jason Landau, the couple exclusively tells me.
Their first project is “Brutal,” director Sam McConnell’s comedy short about a news anchor (Jackson) who acquires a leaked sex tape of a longtime U.S. senator. The cast also includes Rachael Harris (“Lucifer”), Angelica Ross (“Pose”), Johnny Sibilly (“Queer as Folk”), Drew Droege (“Search Party”) and Matthew Morrison (“Glee”). “Brutal” will premiere June 18 at Frameline in San Francisco followed by a Los Angeles rollout at Outfest in July.
Jackson came on as a producer of “Brutal” after McConnell offered him the lead role. “We’re using ‘Brutal’ as a proof of concept. We think it would be a great series kind of in the vein of ‘Veep,’” Jackson says.
