Exclusive: The Peanut Butter Falcon filmmakers Michael Schwartz & Tyler Nilson have been hired to adapt and direct the remake of Riders of Justice for Lionsgate. Shawn Levy, Dan Levine & Dan Cohen of 21 Laps are producing. Sisse Graum Jørgensen & Anders Kjaeurhauge from the original film are executive producing. James Myers is overseeing for Lionsgate.
The original 2020 Danish film starred Mads Mikkelsen and was directed by Anders Thomas Jensen, who co-wrote the story with Nik Arcel. Riders of Justice was a critical and fan favorite hit due to its original tone and offbeat action. The story follows a recently deployed soldier who returns home to care for his teenage daughter after his wife is killed in a train accident. But when a team of statistics experts investigating the accident claim foul play, the soldier embarks on a revenge-fueled mission, along with an eclectic group, to find those responsible.

“Dead Boy Detectives” premiered on Netflix April 25 and brought with it not just a gorgeously stylized supernatural mystery and a villain for the ages in evil (but beautiful!) witch Esther, but a cleverly constructed world that was easy to lose oneself in. Set mostly in the Pacific Northwest, Season 1 followed the titular ghosts, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri), their living but amnesiac clairvoyant friend Crystal (Kassius Nelson), and a bevy of new friends, enemies, and one very unexpected detour into Hell. By season’s end, some mysteries had been solved, and others left dangling appetizingly. The biggest one of all, though, remains intact: What will Season 2 bring?
Netflix has not yet announced if “Dead Boy Detectives” will score a Season 2, but that doesn’t mean executive producers Steve Yockey and Beth Schwartz haven’t spent time thinking about it. In fact, the reception to Season 1 has only fueled more creative decisions.

It’s been a difficult season for Vanderpump Rules fans and cast members in light of the Scandoval fallout, often leaving everyone pondering the same question: Where do we go from here? The third part of the show’s largely uneventful reunion aired on Tuesday night, and despite some of the cast exhibiting conflicting perspectives, one through-line is clearer than ever before: Vanderpump Rules, as we currently know it, is over.
All three reunion episodes took on a similar tone as the entire Season 11 — mostly solemn and sometimes confrontational. In...

Popular early TV comedy "Gilligan's Island" faced some obstacles throughout its 3 season run, from a cast that changed between pilot and series to a bad response to the initial pitch to a planned fourth season that was cut short when the show was seen as getting in the way of "Gunsmoke." But one of the first problems the series' creator had to deal with on the show had nothing to do with network expectations, and in fact sounds a bit like a plot from the series itself. Before the show ever went to air, its Hawaiian production area was swarmed with a seemingly endless army of frogs.
Series creator Sherwood Schwartz once told the Television Academy that the pilot shoot for the series involved a daily slog through a sea of frogs that piled up outside his door in Hawaii. "We shot it in the same place where they did 'South Pacific,...

Did the Vanderpump Rules cast snub Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s sandwich shop opening on May 22nd, 2024? Something About Her finally had its grand opening after doing a soft launch for about a week. Yet, it seemed that none of their co-stars cared enough to send support. Keep reading for more details.
Vanderpump Rules Cast Snubs ‘Something About Her’ Opening
Katie Maloney proposed the idea of a sandwich shop back in Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules. She had wanted to do it with her then-husband, Tom Schwartz but he was in-deep with his bars. Luckily, Ariana Madix was up for the challenge and Something About Her was born. Their goal was to “romanticize lunch” but it took longer than they expected. At the end of Season 10, the ladies did a tasting with the hopes that they would be open soon. Sadly, permit problems derailed them and they spent Season 11 trying to pick up the pieces.

Back in 1961, Newt Minow, then the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, gave an infamous speech about the state of modern television. Minow, who had just been appointed to his position, noted that nothing is better than good TV, "But when television is bad," he said, "nothing is worse." He invited his listeners to sit and watch any random 24 hours of TV and assured them that "what you will observe is a vast wasteland."
"You will see," he continued, "a procession of game shows, formula comedies about totally unbelievable families, blood and thunder, mayhem, violence, sadism, murder, Western bad men, Western good men, private eyes, gangsters, more violence, and cartoons. And endlessly, commercials — many screaming, cajoling, and offending." More than anything, he said, you will find boredom. Minow believed that there was a disconnect between what TV stations were providing and what an intelligent viewing public wanted to see.

Vanderpump Rules has given us over a decade of pure entertainment at its absolute finest. There is no argument there.
However, Vanderpump Rules Season 11 has left fans wondering if it is time to end the show.
It's a loaded question, no doubt about that. There are arguments for both sides.
Wasn't it the beginning of the end when Kristen and Stassi got kicked off, and the final page turned with Jax's exit? I mean, it was his show, right?
Kidding! Kind of.
The show has gone downhill since the Sur servers and bartenders grew up.
They have gone from throwing drinks at each other and fighting to raising kids and living in the Valley, which almost hints at the time being up.
It's hard to imagine what this season would have even been like if it weren't for Scandoval.

Actor Nathan Fillion had a brief period where he had trouble finding work before his breakthrough role. A couple of showrunners took a chance on him when he might’ve needed it the most, allowing Fillion to make a living doing what he enjoyed. Years later, Fillion would reunite with those showrunners again for a special occasion.

Fillion had a guest spot in the hit ABC sitcom American Housewife. On that episode, he played a more exaggerated version of himself. But his American Housewife appearance was particularly special because of a couple of reasons. Fillion found himself somewhat reprising his role as Firefly captain Malcolm Reynolds on the show as well. Jim Backus' first major acting gig was playing a snotty millionaire named Dexter Hayes on the 1940 radio serial "Society Girl." This was to kick off a decades-long career in radio, film, and television, wherein Backus invented multiple indelible characters that remain a part of the pop fabric to this very day. He appeared on "The Jack Benny Program" and even briefly had his own TV show, "The Jim Backus Show" in 1957. He famously played the voice of Mr. Magoo from 1949 until his death in 1989, and starred in "Rebel Without a Cause." He was adept at playing clueless weirdos and self-absorbed egotists, although he had a great deal of comedic range. Be sure to listen to his hit comedy single "Delicious!" sometime. He elicits laughter without saying anything. I could list more credits, but we'd be here all day; Backus starred in over 100 films and shorts, and several dozen TV shows.

Former Vanderpump Rules co-stars Jax Taylor and Tom Schwartz are collaborating on a new business. The two have teased the possibility of opening a new bar but they both have other ideas. So, what have the two longtime besties come up with? Keep reading for more details.
Jax Taylor & Tom Schwartz Collab On New Business
It has been an interesting year for Jax Taylor. He has had success with his new bar, Jax’s Studio City though some will attribute that to it being connected to the already established Rocco’s Tavern. Additionally, the Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley has done immensely well. The ratings have been amazing and even landed the series a second season. At the same time, Jax and his wife, Brittany Cartwright have separated so that has been a hard part for 2024. Luckily, he has his close friend, Tom Schwartz who is usually down for anything.

The CW announced its fall lineup Thursday, with the return of Superman & Lois, two new game shows based on classic board games and the new scripted entry Joan, a limited series starring Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner, among others.
The lineup comes after Nexstar’s acquisition of the network in 2022, and amid a new focus of becoming profitable and reaching a broader audience. That, in turn, has led to fewer U.S.-produced scripted dramas and a need to be scrappy and cost-conscious, as the linear audience declines and many other broadcast networks, including The CW, are seeing the need to slash budgets.
In light of this, The CW has also leaned into the acquisition of secondary sports rights, game shows and new shows in which the network owns all rights worldwide and therefore can profit off of the programs on streaming, unlike with its legacy shows All American...

It’s been less than two years since the close of Nexstar’s acquisition of The CW and the network’s primetime slate could not look more different.

Look through The CW‘s newly announced schedule for the Fall 2024-2025 season and you’ll notice that Walker and All American are missing from the lineup. Does this mean the series are canceled? The CW bosses Dennis Miller and Brad Schwartz addressed the shows’ notable omissions. Walker and All American are two of The CW’s most successful shows and some of the only titles to survive the massive programming overhaul the network carried out in recent years. Miller and Schwartz said on May 16, the day of The CW’s upfront presentation during which the network provides programming updates, that decisions about the fate of Walker and All American will be made “soon.” “We didn’t feel any need to rush to meet some Upfront deadline,” Schwartz, the President of Entertainment at The CW, told Deadline. “All American is on the air right now, so we’re seeing how that does.

After a bombshell season 10 reunion, Bravo is trying out an intense approach for Vanderpump Rules season 11.
In the first official trailer for the upcoming three-part reunion, sitdown host Andy Cohen announces that this time around, the cast will watch the season 11 finale together, sharing their reactions in “real-time.”
At one point, Cohen turns to Ariana Madix, asking, “What’s your reaction to that?” While sobbing, the Vanderpump Rules star responds, “It hurts a whole lot. It really does.”
She also has a tense interaction with her ex Tom Sandoval, who claims she knows him “well enough” to know he’s not “acting” for the cameras, seemingly talking about his storyline this season about his journey to redemption after his fallout with the cast and fans following Scandoval and his secret affair with former costar Rachel Leviss.

Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval’s bar will not play The Valley and dissed Jax Taylor. Schwartz, Sandoval, and Taylor used to be on Vanderpump Rules together until Jax was fired. The three have never gotten along the best due to Jax and his drama. He recently came back for an episode and he and Tom Sandoval were seen bickering. Now their bar refuses to play his new show.
Schwartz & Sandy’s Goes Under
The Tom’s bar has not been doing good since Scandoval. No one wants to support Tom Sandoval and refuses to go there. However, this has also affected Tom Schwartz, who has done nothing wrong. The bar usually does not have more than ten people in there at one time. They stopped serving food after 10 pm. They also had to cut down the number of workers they had. It is safe to say the bar is not doing too well.

Vanderpump Rules is changing its production schedule, opting to not film season 12 this summer.
TMZ first reported that unlike previous seasons of the hit Bravo reality series, which typically begin production in May and film throughout the summer, Vanderpump Rules‘ upcoming season won’t begin taping until later.
Sources told the publication that the network felt the cast deserved a break to “let their lives breathe a bit in the wake of Scandoval,” with hopes of some fresh drama that doesn’t involve the Tom Sandoval-sparked scandal from the spring of 2023. An additional factor in the decision to not film this summer is Ariana Madix’s stint as host of Love Island USA, as she will be filming in Fiji for a few months.
Though TMZ didn’t share when production is expected to pick up for season 12, it noted that it won’t be a full-year hiatus.

Embattled producer Dan Schneider is fighting back against Quiet on Set, Investigation Discovery’s explosive limited series that promised to delve into the toxic and dangerous culture behind some of the most iconic kids’ television shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, the lawsuit accuses Warner Bros, Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures and producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz of defamation. You can read the lawsuit here.
After the series dropped, Schneider apologized for his behavior that was depicted Quiet On Set and vowed to hold himself accountable for how he acted on his Nickelodeon shows. He taped a 19-minute interview that was posted on You Tube, in which he says “watching over the past few nights was very difficult. Me facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and I regret. I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology.

Twenty years ago, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s breakout hit The O.C., about a group of teens coming of age in Newport Beach, premiered on Fox. By the time the 27-episode first season aired its finale in the spring of 2004, the show was the highest-rated drama on TV among adults 18 to 34 and had catapulted its stars — whose characters were affectionately known as the “Core Four” — to massive, near-overnight popularity.
It wouldn’t be the first or last young adult series in the U.S. to generate a cultural frenzy. But the industry ecosystem that birthed and defined zeitgeisty YA shows like it — 22-episode drama series with largely white casts found through in-person auditions — is vanishing. As viewers have increasingly abandoned broadcast and cable TV, the linear networks these shows called home (Fox, The WB, Upn, The CW, MTV and Freeform) have also faced mergers, acquisitions, multiple rebrands or given...

A few years ago, filmmakers Emma Schwartz and Mary Robertson remember taking note of video compilations from old Dan Schneider series that showed children and young teens “enacting scenes that are arguably sexual in nature.”
“One example you see Ariana Grande squeezing a potato, or Ariana Grande — who was then a young teenager — pouring water on her chest and face,” Robertson recalls during a panel at Deadline’s Contenders TV: Documentary + Unscripted event. “And you see Jamie Lynn Spears receiving this squirt of a viscous liquid on her face. And there were many on social media who were asking, ‘Did I grow up watching these clips?’ “
Their shock over what they found on social media, together with a story about ’90s kids TV in Business Insider, is what prompted the creation of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. The Investigation Discovery docuseries set out to uncover the...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from the entire first season of “Dead Boy Detectives,” now streaming on Netflix.
The Dead Boy Detectives may have closed the case of Port Townsend, but they don’t jump back through the mirror to merry old London the same boys they once were.
In the Season 1 finale of Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Dead Boy Detectives” comic books, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri) find themselves in the well-manicured clutches of resident witch Esther (Jenn Lyon), who is hellbent on bottling the youthful elixir she brews from the anguish attached to Edwin’s soul from his decades of torture in Hell. Pesky witches, always trying to steal childhood trauma for their skin care routine.

Watch most comedians long enough and you’ll start to hear the same stories. But watch Stephen Colbert long enough and you’ll always find he has a new reason for audiences to fall in love with his wife, Evie.
On Sunday, April 21 at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, “The Late Show” host and Ben Schwartz closed out PaleyFest LA 2024 with a wide-ranging and goofy Q&a that included Colbert retelling some of his career-best stories while gently negging his interviewer’s questioning style.
“I will tell you a question I have been asked before,” Colbert quipped, turning Schwartz’ first prompt back on the actor in a good nature. “It’s ‘What’s a question you haven’t been asked before?'”
“And Ok, we’re going to the next question, you guys!,” Schwartz said with a laugh.

Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney is addressing the rumors that she is a scammer. Why are people thinking this of her and what is she doing to debunk this? More so, what other news does the television personality have to share? Keep reading for more details.
Katie Maloney Addresses Rumors She Is A Scammer
The last two seasons of Vanderpump Rules have been very difficult but interesting for Katie Maloney. Right before Season 10 began, she and her husband and co-star, Tom Schwartz, shared their marriage was over. Then, they announced they were divorcing. The one rule she had was not to hook up with anyone in the friend group. Unfortunately, flip-flopping friend, Scheana Shay pushed Schwartz and show alum Rachel Leviss to kiss. This infuriated Katie but, behind the scenes, Leviss was having an affair with their other close friend and co-star, Tom Sandoval. Since he was in a decade-long...

"Gilligan's Island" may be viewed as a classic sitcom now, but when the silly series about a group of island castaways aired from 1964 to 1967, it was far from a sure bet for its home network, CBS. As Laura Morowitz writes in the book "Critiquing the Sitcom," the series was "championed by the public" yet "routinely derided by critics." Anything but a classic in its time, the series ultimately became an enduring part of TV history thanks to its seemingly endless replays in syndication. According to Morowitz, it "would come to be the most repeated series in television history."
During its original airing, "Gilligan's Island" was pushed around the prime-time schedule like brussel sprouts on a picky kid's plate. It switched time slots three times during its relatively short run and was finally canceled in 1967. Except, the cancelation of "Gilligan's Island" wasn't straightforward; by several accounts, it came after the show had already seemingly been renewed,...

The premise of Sherwood Schwartz's 1964 sitcom "Gilligan's Island" is succinctly laid out in its indelible theme song, written by Schwartz and George Wyle. The S.S. Minnow, helmed by Captain G. Jonas Grumby (Alan Hale) and his first officer Gilligan (Bob Denver) took on five passengers for a three-hour boat tour of Hawai'i. The ship hit some bad weather, got lost at sea, and washed up on an uncharted island somewhere in the Pacific. Now the two sailors, along with a millionaire (Jim Backus), his wife (Natalie Schafer), a movie star (Tina Louise), a professor (Russel Johnson), and a lottery-winning tourist (Dawn Wells), have to learn to survive, all to comedic effect.
"Gilligan's Island" has no themes of actual survival, instead rolling with its slapstick elements; the series clearly takes place in a cartoon reality. As such, the characters play as broad archetypes, mugging and screaming in an unrealistic fashion.

Stephen Colbert closed out Los Angeles’ annual PaleyFest TV festival Sunday afternoon, as he sat down for a conversation with comedian Ben Schwartz about his career and time at The Late Show desk.
During the wide-ranging chat inside the Dolby Theatre — which ranged from Colbert’s start in Chicago’s improv scene to his stint as a Sunday school teacher and his love of fantasy films — Schwartz asked the host if he would ever want to return to acting, for which he went to school.
“I was purely acting up until I had The Late Show,” Colbert recalled, as he had been in character on The Colbert Report and The Daily Show. “One of the weirdest things about taking the job is my manager, James ‘Babydoll’ Dixon, when he said, ‘Hey, it’s you.’ And I went, ‘Me?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, do you want to do it?’ And I’m like,...

Like most things in Hollywood, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” began with a promise.
After years of whispered complaints about the sometimes-shady world of children’s entertainment, an investigative team set out to expose Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon and the years of alleged abuse endured by the kids who worked there from 1994 to 2018. Others had tried to tell this story, but this time serious journalists planned to expose the industry’s seamy underbelly — documenting past wrongs, giving voice to victims, and charting tangible change.

What's the best Disney villain song? I love Scar's devious rallying call "Be Prepared" from "The Lion King." For the feminine villains, "Mother Knows Best" from "Tangled" (sung by Tony winner Donna Murphy as Gothel) is deliciously theatrical.
Ultimately, still, the crown can't go anywhere but to "Hellfire" from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," as Claude Frollo (the late Tony Jay) sings before a searing fireplace about his lust for Romani "witch" Esmeralda (Demi Moore). Jay's mellifluous baritone was like no other — the actor's voice was so powerful it lifted the song with its echoes.
Now, the "Hunchback" soundtrack is nothing to sneer at, but "Hellfire" is on another level of daring ambition. "Out There" (by Tom Hulce as Quasimodo) is the "yearning song" seen in many a Disney movie, a la "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid" or "Belle's Reprise" from "Beauty and the Beast." It’s rare when a documentary series makes as big a splash as that created by “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” The five-part Investigation Discovery docuseries has been seen by an estimated audience of more than 20 million over ID and Max and generated a groundswell of chatter over its revelations about toxic children’s TV production environments – primarily at Nickelodeon in the early 2000s. The filmmakers responsible for the series that premiered on March 17 – executive producer-director Mary Robertson and co-exec producer-director Emma Schwartz – are thrilled at a reaction that they describe variously as “inspiring” and “overwhelming.”
Adds Schwartz: “I think one of the most exciting parts of that is really to see how many people are not just impacted by watching it, but want to take action or improve the environment in which these problems occur. Taking the work to a next level is something you would hope for.

The response to ID’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has been overwhelming to say the least, the project’s co-directors and executive producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz said at an Emmys FYC screening and panel in Los Angeles Tuesday evening. It’s also brought into focus another industry where there’s a “clear lack of protection” when it comes to children, Schwartz said: social media.
“One thing that we’ve had conversations about as a result of this is that, if you look at where children’s entertainment, so to speak, is today, it’s not just in studios or in networks, it’s on social media,” said the filmmaker. “That is a universe where there’s almost no oversight as to what’s happening inside people’s homes, on these screens, and what’s happening to protect those kids as well, and...
