Cartoon Network has always been a place of experimentation. In the early years, shows like "Dexter's Laboratory" brought Sam Raimi references to animation. In the early '00s, shows like "Samurai Jack," "Ben 10," and "Codename: Kids Next Door," added deep mythologies and more serialized storytelling. And in the 2010s, the network experimented with visuals in shows like "Flapjack" and "Adventure Time" which brought weirdness back into Cartoon Network.
This experimentation continued, with animators who got their start on the latter two shows going on to create influential and fantastic shows on their own. Still, as bold and imaginative as all these shows were, they were still mostly white men in charge of creating those cartoons. That all changed in 2013 with the release of "Steven Universe." This is one of the best cartoons of the century, a deeply emotional and inventive show inspired by superheroes and magical-girl anime. The show follows Steven,...

It has been a few months since the fiasco of Jonathan Majors was revealed to the public and the actor was removed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige faced immense pressure as Majors was going to portray the character of Kang the Conqueror.

Since the mid-80s, the PG rating has been mostly exclusive to films aimed at kids, and even though there have been releases that pushed its boundaries, they’re few and far between. However, for a long time, this wasn’t the case, as before the PG-13 rating was introduced, films were either rated PG or R, with the latter only being reserved for extreme cases, such as Evil Dead.
This flawed system would finally undergo a massive change, thanks to Steven Spielberg and his blockbusters, especially Gremlins, which too earned a PG rating upon its release. But had the creators stuck to the initial draft of Chris Columbus, the horror would’ve definitely been given the same treatment as that of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead.

Willem Dafoe’s transformation into Hollywood’s iconic villain is nothing short of cinematic poetry, the face and eyes of the actor gleams a sinister allure. In his evil-laden portfolio, he has portrayed a number of antagonists but one stands above all. It is none other than the psychotic Green Goblin from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man franchise.

The character is one of the most fan-favorite villains in the franchise, and his fan following is so vast that he returned in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. While fans were delighted to see Dafoe on his glider, giving a chilling laugh, he had one complaint about reprising his role. While sitting with Wired, he talked about how he disliked the idea of using the de-aging effects done on him in the film.

The world changed forever when Samuel L. Jackson showed up in the post-credits scene of Iron Man as Nick Fury talking to Robert Downey Jr. about the ‘Avengers Initiative’. The scene gave birth to the MCU and the culture of post-credits scenes that did not just feature in the Marvel films but also carried over to every other shared cinematic universe.
While the legendary scene teased The Avengers, which drove fans crazy, one deleted take of the scene showed Jackson referring to Spider-Man and the X-Men. While both properties were owned by Sony and Fox at the time, the dialogue proved that producer and Marvel CEO Kevin Feige always wanted to include the two in the MCU.

Sam Raimi was among the filmmakers who added to the rise and popularity of the superhero genre after Blade and X-Men with his Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire. The first two films have been considered landmarks that changed the genre, providing character depth and emotion that made the films more than just action spectacles.

Tobey Maguire went the extra mile to convince producers that he was the perfect guy for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. Several actors from Leonardo DiCaprio to Yellowstone‘s Wes Bentley were considered for the role, but Raimi was impressed with Maguire’s performance in The Cider House Rules. The studio didn’t think Maguire was the adrenaline-pumping superhero for the film, but The Great Gatsby actor proved them wrong.

Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the main cast of one film seldom appeared in another’s story, unless the characters were in some sort of a spin-off situation. So when fans and audiences become privy to all the potential crossovers that they could have seen over the years, it is quite a frustrating situation, given that these stories were not over-saturated with easter eggs and corporate product placement.

The Office alum John Krasinski had long been a fan-favourite choice to play Mister Fantastic and finally got the chance to do so as a member of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Illuminati.
Added during reshoots, Reed Richards' role in the sequel was far too brief and his death at the hands of the Scarlet Witch...well, the less said about that, the better. Even so, many fans appreciated seeing Krasinski suit up and it was a nice surprise for the stretchy superhero to make his MCU debut on Earth-838.
We've seen concept art with several different suit designs, but a viral clip from a VFX reel reveals just how close Mister Fantastic came to donning a primarily black suit instead of the blue one we saw on screen.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the superhero genre in recent years, the film that ruled fans’ hearts even before the Avengers assembled, was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. Being one of the most popular superheroes, Spider-Man has been the subject of numerous adaptations, each representing its own iterations of Peter Parker and the web-slinger. While some of these have become a fan favorite, such as Tobey Maguire, and achieved huge commercial success, such as Tom Holland’s venture into the MCU, Andrew Garfield’s stint as The Amazing Spider-Man remains the least favorite.

The first full teaser for Alien: Romulus contains lots of nods to Alien and Aliens. Not only does it integrate the famous tagline for the first film, but we get plenty of cool guns, facehuggers on the attack, and even a xenomorph rising from the water. In other words, all things that made Aliens great.
The connections between Alien and Aliens make sense. Director Fede Álvarez and co-writer Rodo Sayagues have made clear that Romulus takes place between those two landmark films. However, the standout, most shocking scene pays homage to Alien 3, a movie so divisive that even director David Fincher disowned it.
In the final image of the trailer, a xenomorph approaches protagonist Rain and extends its inner jaw. Soaked with sweat and steam, Rain turns her anguished face away from the monster and toward the camera.

Sunday mornings, freshly cooked breakfast, perched in front of the TV – that’s how millions of kids spent the beginning of their week across the States back in the day. "The Boys" season 4 will soon be upon us, but we'd be remiss to forget the spin-off series "Gen V." I was skeptical about the college-set superhero show, but it proved to have the same audacious spirit as its parent program ("Gen V" has pluckier leads too).
One of the most memorable "Gen V" scenes is the "puppet massacre" in episode 5, "Welcome to the Monster Club." Sam Riordan (Asa Germann), a super-strong teenager who's been locked in a lab, goes berserk and tears some attacking soldiers apart. But due to his loose grip on reality, he imagines himself and the others as Muppets, leading to a scene where Sam disembowels men but we only see puppet blood and bones. "The Boys" and "Gen V" are not shy about violence, so this altered reality has nothing to do with censorship. Rather, it explores Sam's character and his childish outlook on violence he...

Eddie Brock and his…better(?) half “may not make it out of [this one] alive.” That’s probably why the third and final film in the “Venom” series is subtitled “The Last Dance.”
On Monday, Sony Pictures released the trailer for the Marvel movie that officially makes “Venom” a trilogy. You would think by now the Tom Hardy character and his frenemy alien symbiote would have their timing down a bit better, but an early (and comedic) scene in the official trailer proves they’ve still got some work to do. The levity soon gives way to Brock/Venom biting four guys’ heads off — classic Venom.
In “Venom: The Last Dance,” the guys are on the lam — and it’s not just their Earth enemies who are closing in. The film’s tagline is “‘Til Death Do They Part,” which does not particularly promise a happy ending.

In the late 1980s/early 1990s, Avatar, Aliens, and The Terminator director James Cameron had ambitious plans for a live-action Spider-Man movie.
After writing the screenplay with Barry Cohen and Ted Newson, he'd have directed the movie. While we've heard about many possible casting ideas the filmmaker had, Leonardo DiCaprio was expected to play Peter Parker.
It's one of those movies fans will likely always wonder about; instead, Sam Raimi helmed 2002's Spider-Man, with Tobey Maguire playing the web-slinger and a tone more in line with Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's comics instead of the R-Rated adventure Cameron likely had planned.
Electro and Sandman were expected to be Cameron's villains, though a quote attributed to the director at Cinematheque Francaise in Paris confirms he also had plans for Venom.

A rumor very briefly circulated that The Inhumans, a group of super-powered people who live on the Moon, would finally return to the MCU after several years of silence.
An unofficial Marvel X account recently said, “The Inhumans from the Inhumans series will return in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars'”. However, one of the stars of the forgotten series has something different to say.

"Dexter's Laboratory" changed the course of American TV animation. Like "Flapjack" after it, the cartoon gave many future legendary animators their start in the industry, from Craig McCracken and Butch Hartman to Rob Renzetti and one Seth MacFarlane. It also helped transform "The Powerpuff Girls" into a timeless hit.
The show started as a short in "What a Cartoon!" before becoming the very first Cartoon Cartoon. The man behind the show, Genndy Tartakovsky, has made hit after hit in a variety of genres and tones, from his influential "Star Wars: Clone Wars," to the devastatingly gory R-rated animated carnage of "Primal" or complex genre-bending tales of steampunk goodness like the criminally underseen "Unicorn: Warriors Eternal."
Much of Tartakovsky's style can be traced back to his work in "Dexter's Laboratory," from his use of silence to tell stories to his eye for iconography and imagery, along with his knack for pop culture references.

Keanu Reeves has been entertaining audiences since the 90s with groundbreaking action films that have redefined the genre. Films like Point Break, The Matrix, and the John Wick franchises have become milestones in the genre. Additionally, Reeves is a fan of cinema in general and Star Wars has been a seminal franchise for the actor like many during the time of the original trilogy.

Most Star Wars fans will agree that the first two films in the original trilogy were the peak of the franchise and Return of the Jedi fell short of reaching the heights of the previous two films. Reeves was also let down by the film as he had huge expectations from it but it didn’t deliver in the way that he hoped.

Arguably the most popular video game voice actor out there, Troy Baker has one of the most unique portfolios in the industry. On one hand, he has starred in epic video-game series such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Death Stranding.
On the other, he has voiced characters such as The Batman, Joker, Hawkeye and even Loki in various media forms. The Joel Miller of The Last of Us video game franchise, Baker was also involved in the TV series and played the minor role of James. While the leading role eventually went to Pedro Pascal, who did as good a job as one can expect, the Chilean superstar was not Baker’s first choice for the role.

There’s something special about bloodbath movies: they’re really easy to mess up, making carnage the main character instead of the actual protagonist, but they’re also hauntingly captivating when done right. Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill is often dubbed as the ultimate bloodbath action, but what if we replaced the Bride with the Boy and changed the modern world for a post-apocalyptic one? Would it still work?
Bill Skarsgård Goes on a Rampage
Don’t make surprised Pikachu faces, but there’s been an apocalypse and the world has changed. In this brutal new reality, a corrupt and powerful dynasty rules over the land, and its members like to toy with their subjects. Once, the matriarch kills an entire family and leaves a little boy deeply traumatized, mute, and deaf as a result.

Here we are with another case of “Wait, that was a book first?” Although, having watched the movie for the first time and seeing its reputation online, this is also a case of “Wait, that was a movie?” William Friedkin was a master filmmaker and although most of his stone-cold classics happened before 1990, he proved he still had plenty in the tank with things like The Hunted and Bug to name a couple. He was a replacement director which seems surreal considering his talents and he was one of 3 credited writers on a little remembered horror movie adaptation from 1990. The Guardian (watch it Here) is based on The Nanny from 1987 and it’s a strange pairing of source material and finished product. Both pieces of media are mostly slept on in their respective fields but how close did Friedkin and the other writers come to matching the book? Always do...

Alfred Molina has donned a ton of iconic roles spread across multiple different genres that perfectly display his versatility as an actor throughout his over four-decade-long and counting career. But his most commendable performance, besides that of Doc Ock in Spider-Man‘s saga, was his minor debut role as Satipo in Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark from 1981.

Even though his role was very minor with a brief screen time in the Indiana Jones movie, Molina still had to go through stuff that would be a nightmare for all the people terrified of spiders. This is because, while Tobey Maguire’s second film as the web-slinger didn’t really force him to do anything with spiders, it was actually Spielberg who made his scene an absolute nightmare to shoot.

Filmmaker Scott Derrickson helmed the first Doctor Strange back in 2016. The noted horror filmmaker, who was known for his film Sinister handled the first live-action depiction of the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. The film received positive responses around the world and was a commercial success, earning $677 million at the global box office.
While Derrickson did a great job with the film, he left the sequel after working on it for a while due to creative differences. Recently, a fan posted a nice detail about the first film which proved why the MCU was great back in the day and why Kevin Feige seemed to have forgotten the kind of creators that were involved in its making.

Wes Craven's 1977 film "The Hills Have Eyes," like Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" before it, features a vanload of city folks who find themselves waylaid in a forgotten corner of the American wasteland. In Craven's film, the wasteland is not rural Texas, but the irradiated deserts of Nevada. The protagonists (Dee Wallace is among them) are beset by the brood of the sadistic Papa Jupiter (James Whitworth), including Mars (Lance Gordon), Mercury (Arthur King), and Pluto (Michael Berryman). Years ago, Jupiter moved into the hills with his wife (Cordy Clark) and raised their children to attack and cannibalize passers-through in order to survive. "The Hills Have Eyes" is raw and brutal, but possessed of a winking sense of humor that horror fans will appreciate.

‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of MCU’s most anticipated projects in the works. Tom Holland confirmed he’s returning as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya as Mj. Besides these details, much about the movie remains unknown.
Earlier reports suggested it would explore the street-level stories in the MCU, but recent reports indicate otherwise.
Various directors have been linked to helming the movie, including Jon Watts, who withdrew due to other commitments, Sam Raimi, Justin Lin, Drew Goddard, and others.
Among the rumored names were Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, the directors of the canceled Dceu ‘Batgirl’ movie. In a recent interview with Arabic Mdc, Fallah was asked about the rumors. He politely responded, “I can’t discuss that.”

‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of the most exciting projects that MCU currently has in development. The movie has been in development for quite some time now, Tom Holland confirmed a while ago that he is reprising his role as Peter Parker along with Zendaya who will be back as Mj.
Aside from that, there’s little we know about the movie. Some reports stated that ‘Spider-Man 4’ will focus more on the street-level stories within the MCU, and now the latest reports state something else entirely.
Several names have been mentioned in the context of directing the movie starting with Jon Watts, who eventually pulled out due to involvement with other projects, Sam Raimi, Justin Lin, Drew Goddard, and several others.
One of the rumored names were Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, the directors of the ill-fated Dceu ‘Batgirl’ movie. In a recent interview with Arabic Mdc, Fallah was questioned about the recent rumors.

It’s been almost two years since the release of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, marking the character’s last appearance in the MCU with significant consequences. Although an alternate version of Strange appeared in ‘What If…?’ Season 2, that storyline ended tragically, making it unlikely we’ll see that variant in future installments.
While ‘Doctor Strange 3’ hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige mentioned at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con that there’s ample room in the release schedule for Phase 6 projects. However, recent developments in the MCU suggest a different trajectory.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) was Written and Narrated by Mike Holtz, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
By the year 2017, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise had already produced sequels, remakes, prequels, prequels of the remakes, a 3D sequel, and Matthew McConaughey with a cybernetic leg. But as the classic saying goes, there’s more than one way to brutally skin a live human being on a hook while they scream in pain as your grandpa watches in the corner. Now we have requels. And you can bet your face skin that the Texas Chainsaw franchise wasn’t about to miss out on those. The story of the making of this particular requel, however, involves the dawn of the Covid-19 shutdowns, fired directors and trashed footage, rumors of disastrous test screenings,...

Raimi Productions, the genre-focused company run by Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi, has signed a first-look film and television deal with Ara Keshishian and Petr Jákl’s development and financing company Zq Entertainment.
The deal extends the long-standing relationship between the two companies, which most recently collaborated on the upcoming thriller “Locked,” directed by David Yaroveksy and starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins, and the horror-thriller “Don’t Move,” which was acquired by Netflix earlier this month.
“Don’t Move” follows a seasoned serial killer (Finn Witrock) who injects a grieving woman (Kelsey Asbille) with a paralytic agent while the two of them are isolated deep in the forest. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.

Boy Kills World looked to be a cool action flick – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said it was in his 8/10 review, where he wrote, “I had a total blast with this demented actioner.” But even with producer Sam Raimi’s name on the film, it didn’t draw in much of an audience during its theatrical run. According to The Numbers, it only made $3 million worldwide. Now it’s heading to home video, where hopefully it will have more success. Boy Kills World is getting a digital release next week, on May 28th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders at This Link.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of Moritz Mohr. It was scripted by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury: The Movie). The story takes place in a bizarre, dark dystopian universe and centers on a deaf and mute character, Boy, who navigates this...
