Robert Pattinson was known for most of his career as “The guy from Twilight“. The fame he got from playing Edward Cullen in the film series overshadowed every other role. However, the film’s infamous reputation also cast an undeserved shadow on his career as people only knew him as ‘Twilight Boy’ for many years.

However, he has proven that he is more than just a charming vampire in recent years. Pattinson auditioned with many other actors for the role of Edward Cullen for the first Twilight film. The audition process required the actors to be shirtless at one instance as mandated by director Catherine Hardwicke. When a reluctant Pattinson did so, Hardwicke instantly wanted him to put his clothes back on.

Deadpool & Wolverine is fast approaching, and as rumours continue to swirl about the threequel's cameos, we can discount at least one thanks to the Merc with the Mouth's co-creator, Rob Liefeld.
He's taken to X to confirm he won't be making an appearance in the long-awaited team-up movie. We saw him in 2016's Deadpool, though he later revealed he'd turned down the chance to appear in the sequel two years later.
"I hope this does not get me any grief, but no, I am not in this film," Liefeld told his followers on social media. "No, no. No complaining, I just don’t want to tease anyone, letting you know straight up. Thank you [though]."
Despite not making a physical appearance, trailers for the Marvel Studios movie have confirmed the writer and artist will at least be referenced.

Stewart then went on to feature in four more movies, and recently we also saw him return to the beloved role in the series, Star Trek: Picard, which ran for three more seasons from 2020 to 2023.

But it would come as a shock to many Star Trek enthusiasts to know that Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek universe did not want Patrick Stewart to play the role of Captain Picard in Tng. And as for Stewart, when he joined the show, he did not think the show would even last the first season. He was just taking a chance to “make some money” and “get a suntan.

Alexandros Avranas' 2018 film "Dark Crimes," starring Jim Carrey, was extrapolated from a true crime article published in the New Yorker in 2008. The article, post-modernly called "True Crime," was written by David Grann, and it told the story of a Polish novelist named Krystian Bala who murdered a small business owner named Dariusz Janiszewski in the year 2000. For three years, the police were unable to solve the case, and Bala seemed to have gotten away with it. Bala, perhaps feeling smug about his ability to evade detection for so long, decided to poke the bear a little bit. In 2003, he published a crime novel called "Amok," wherein he wrote a fictionalized version of the Janiszewski murder, including intimate details that only the killer could have known. Bala depicted his fictional self as a badass nihilist who loved quoting Nietzsche and didn't care about human laws, man. "Amok" was a big hit,...

When Michael Angarano was trying to get “Sacramento,” his indie buddy comedy about two friends who go on a road trip to a certain state capital off the ground, the question he’d get was always the same. Does it really need to be set in Sacramento?
“At one point we were ready to shoot the movie in Atlanta — we had the financing and everything,” remembers Angarano, who directed the film, as well as co-wrote it. “And this was for a movie called ‘Sacramento.’ But it’s like why try to cheat it? Maybe, we should we just call it ‘Athens’ or ‘Savannah’?”
And even though Angarano and his co-writer Chris Smith weren’t that familiar with the city that inspired their film, its appearance on a highway sign, informing them of the California city’s distance from Los Angeles, was foundational. For them, Sacramento wasn’t just a destination,...

Several members of The Daily Show – Jon Stewart, Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic – gathered at The Paramount Theater for the Comedy Central show’s Emmy FYC event Friday night.
Throughout a nearly hour-long conversation, Stewart spent time poking fun at Donald Trump and explaining his decision to return to the show. Most notably, when asked if he’d consider staying past his expected November departure, the late night host didn’t seem to rule the idea out.
Much of the night’s conversation centered around Stewart’s surprising once-a-week to return to the show after exiting as host in 2015. Stewart began the conversation by joking that he was “arrested for 32… 34” felonies and that his return to the show was “part of the community service to avoid jail time.”

Deadline reports that Kristen Stewart will make her small-screen debut with The Challenger, a limited series following Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space.
The Challenger is based on The New Guys, written by Meredith E. Bagby, and comes from Kyra Sedgwick’s Big Swing Productions, which set it up at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin. Sally Ride was part of the first class of NASA astronauts to include women. After completing her training, she flew aboard the space shuttle Challenger on several missions, becoming the first American woman to fly in space. When the Challenger exploded in 1986, she became part of the Rogers Commission, which investigated the reason behind the explosion. It was later revealed that she had provided key information about the O-rings, which were later determined to be the cause.

Though many of our most popular films about astronauts are about men, like the true stories behind "Apollo 13" and "The Right Stuff," there are some incredible women who have explored the cosmos, chief among them Sally Ride. Ride was the first American woman in space as one of the crew of a Challenger expedition to launch new satellites in 1983, and she went into space a second time on the Challenger in 1984, spending a total of around 14 days in orbit. She was a trailblazer who not only broke barriers in space travel but was an incredible mind, earning four different degrees from Stanford University, including a doctorate in physics. Though she retired from NASA in 1989 to pursue a career in academia, Ride held the unique distinction of being the only person to serve on the investigation boards for both NASA shuttle accidents, including the 1986 Challenger explosion. Sadly, Ride died in 2012 at...

In the vast Star Trek universe, people often hope and anticipate potential reunions of iconic characters. One such moment nearly came to fruition in a planned Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, where Patrick Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard was set to cross paths with none other than William Shatner’s Captain James T. Kirk.

Overnights: Jon Stewart’s Daily Show Draws Largest Live-Plus-Same-Day Audience In More Than 2 Months
Jon Stewart and most of his late-night counterparts returned to the airwaves last night after a week off. Daily Show viewers were apparently quite eager to hear Stewart’s reaction to the Trump hush money trial guilty verdict, because last night’s episode attracted the show’s largest live-plus-same-day audience in more than two months.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the June 3 Daily Show averaged 787,000 total viewers with 147,000 P18-49 viewers at 11 p.m. The 787,000 is +13% from Stewart’s most recent Daily Show episode, and represents the program’s largest live-plus-same-day audience since Monday, March 25. The June 3 episode’s 147,000 P18-49 viewer delivery, however, is -3% from its May 20 episode live-plus-same-day delivery.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that last night’s Daily Show will see a significant linear viewership bump once delayed-viewing data arrives in the coming days.

The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart opened Monday’s (June 3) episode by discussing Donald Trump‘s recent conviction and President Joe Biden‘s bizarre reaction. On Thursday (May 30), the former president was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records relating to his hush-money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair. Stewart aired a clip from Biden’s press conference when a reporter asked him to share his thoughts on the Trump verdict. In the video, Biden is seen walking away before stopping and turning around with a massive smile on his face. “No, don’t stop!” Stewart begged. “Why can’t they tell him to just f****** keep walking whenever he’s out in public?!” After playing a clip of the smile, Stewart added, “Why does everything have to be so f****** weird? Why? If you have something to say about [Trump’s conviction], say it!

With each of the major late-night hosts back on the air Monday night after all but one missed their chance last week to bask in the biggest legal news since Jay Leno unleashed “The Dancing Itos” during the Oj trial, the only thing missing was a song all of them could sing in unison. Maybe:
“Can You Feel the Gloat Tonight?”
In the wake of the criminal conviction of Donald Trump, there was indeed a whole lot of gloating going on. And why not? The late-night quintet of Stewart, Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, and Meyers (which might work as the name of a “lawfare” law firm) has been roasting Trump for years, often with something less than unabashed glee because he seemed to always dance just out of reach of any official comeuppance.
Here was comeuppance in abundance—34 counts worth of felonies. Each of the hosts took advantage, some more than others.

Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show on Monday for the first time since former President Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts stemming from a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Stewart dug into both sides of the media, first mocking liberal outlets by saying the conviction “was an exercise in concealed and controlled glee” and that the Democratic party’s next hurdle would be figuring out how to “exploit the moment politically without giving the impression that this was the plan all along.”

Missed Monday’s late-night monologues? We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the night’s best laughs from across the dial.
So, Anything Happen Last Week?
Look, nobody could have predicted how quickly a duly selected New York jury would convict Donald Trump of all 34 counts in his felony trial for falsifying financial records to hide his serial adultery to sway an election. But c’mon, late-night hosts—taking the first week of jury deliberations off for vacation? Well, with only Jimmy Kimmel having had the foresight to schedule new shows last week (thus getting a head start on all the monologue schadenfreude), that just means that Messrs. Colbert Stewart, Meyers, and Fallon all had extra time to kick back, laugh themselves silly at the first-time-ever spectacle of a former United States President being convicted in a criminal court, and then get down to work writing all the...

Tonight marked the first time Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show since Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts, and the host went after the media, Trump and President Joe Biden.
Stewart roasted Fox News’ Laura Ingraham for calling the justice system a “banana republic.”
The comedian went on to call out South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott for claiming on CNN that the justice system “hunts Republicans while protecting Democrats” on the very same day Hunter Biden faced jury selection for federal gun charges.
He joked that the hosts of Fox & Friends were “using pillows to cover their boners” at that news.
After that show’s correspondents didn’t correct Trump for claiming he never said “lock her up” about former presidential opponent Hillary Clinton, Stewart put them on blast, referencing Fox News’ recent $747 million settlement over repeated false election claims.
“And that, ladies and gentleman, I present to you,...

Jon Stewart slammed the media’s response to Donald Trump’s hush money conviction during The Daily Show on Monday, criticizing conservative outlets’ denial of the trial’s legitimacy and denouncing both sides’ polarized coverage of the event.
Last Thursday, a New York jury found the former president guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records after weeks of testimony from a former tabloid publisher, a Hollywood fixer, Trump’s former lawyer and a porn star. He will be sentenced on July 11.
In response to Republican commentators’ claims that the trial was rigged, Stewart said: “Yes, we impaneled grand juries and submitted evidence and cross-examined witnesses … But how was Donald Trump or his family not allowed on the jury? Outrageous!”
Later, while discussing the media’s weaponization of the court system, Stewart said, “Maybe our justice system wasn’t a sham, but certainly applying our justice system to Donald Trump was.

Monday means Jon Stewart at The Daily Show—but this week just hits a little different. That’s because it’s the first time viewers will hear Stewart’s official reaction to Donald Trump being found guilty of a whopping 34 felony counts in his hush money trial.
When the Trump trial first kicked off in April, Stewart very publicly bemoaned the breathless media coverage being given to the former president’s every movement to and from the Lower Manhattan courthouse. “Are we gonna follow this guy to court every f**king day?,” he asked on the April 22 edition of The Daily Show. “Are you trying to make this O.J.? It’s not a chase, he’s commuting.”
Stewart’s point, of course, was that the only real breaking news we needed to hear was when something interesting actually happened. And something tells us that he’ll have at least...

The 2000s was an interesting time for cinema. Let’s face it: it was an interesting time in general. In the realm of horror, the beginning of the aughts saw an influx of remakes of J-Horror – some bad, some pretty decent. However, with the post-9/11 cultural climate heightening anxieties and desensitization to violence due to real-world events, another genre emerged, tapping into the darker side of human nature. First coined by David Edelstein in a 2006 article in New York magazine, “torture porn” took the roots of exploitation and splatter films of the 70s and 80s and reintroduced the mainstream audiences to a new level of explicit brutality. Films like Saw, Hostel, The Devil’s Rejects, and the New Extremity of French Horror were raw and unapologetic looks at human depravity. It was everywhere. I mean, there was a time when you couldn’t go more than a year without having a Saw film.

Kornel Mundruczo (Pieces Of A Woman) has signed on to direct The Revolution According To Kamo, a biopic about the friendship between Simon Arshaki Ter-Petrosyan aka “Kamo” and his best childhood friend “Soso” who would go on to become Joseph Stalin.
Mundrcuczo’s frequent collaborator Kata Weber has adapted an original screenplay by Pawel Pawlikowski and Ben Hopkins.
Spanning 30 years between 1891 and Kamo’s death in 1922, the Georgian-language film is described as “a portrait of the birth of the world’s most murderous dictator through the eyes of his best friend, ally, devoted disciple, and henchman.” The two grew up together in the small town of Gori close to Tbilisi. Stalin was born into extreme poverty while Kamo’s family were wealthy merchants. No amount of epic projects letting her leave can stop her from growing and glowing, and Melissa Barrera just proved that. Despite leaving the fan-favorite super-popular horror/mystery Scream franchise, the actress isn’t hesitating to let everyone know through her latest project that she can find her own way in the industry and doesn’t need mammoth franchises to back her up.

It happens to many of us above a certain age. You wake up one day, and realize that your life involves neither your childhood besties, nor the carefree bliss you once took for granted. With that in mind, Castille Landon’s wearisome comedy “Summer Camp” ponders, what if there was a way to awaken our inner child and reestablish our priorities later in life through some fun and play? It’s surely a worthy enough premise for a good time, but one “Summer Camp” squanders through dull jokes, an uninspiring story without any real stakes and an overall phony feeling that the film can’t shake.
Indeed, “Summer Camp” often seems only as authentic as a high-end glamping site, when it unsuccessfully tries to convince the audience that it’s the real deal about the virtues of letting your hair down once in a while — a teaching that the film hammers on,...

“As the Academy evolves, we are bringing teams together to create a better sense of shared purpose across the organization,” AMPAS CEO Bill Kramer said in a statement. “I am thrilled that we have an incredible team of dedicated and strategic professionals at the Academy who have greatly earned these promotions.”
Homma has been appointed director and president of the Academy Museum, where she’ll lead the strategic creative vision. She succeeds film scholar and TCM host Stewart, and will report to the museum board and CEO Kramer.

There is a big change at the helm of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday.
Jacqueline Stewart, the distinguished academic and TCM host who has led the museum since July 2022, guiding it through the ups and downs of its first few years (it opened in late 2021) after the museum’s founding director and president Bill Kramer became the CEO of the entire Academy, is being replaced by Amy Homma, who has been with the museum for five years, most recently as its chief audience officer.
Stewart, a 2021 MacArthur Foundation Fellow, is returning to her faculty position at the University of Chicago, having presided over the opening of numerous exhibitions — most recently the museum’s much-anticipated first permanent one, Hollywoodland: Jewish Founders and the Making of a Movie Capital — as well as having initiated the museum’s first strategic planning process and made new galleries bilingual.
