The buzz around this year’s Stagecoach Festival, kicking off Friday in Indio, California, is among the loudest in the country music fest’s 16-year history. Tickets sold out in less than a month after going on sale last September — hitting that mark months before sister festival Coachella — and giving Stagecoach its biggest sales ever. Credit that to the current country music boom and to a stellar lineup put together by Stacy Vee, EVP of festival talent for Goldenvoice, the promoter behind Coachella and Stagecoach.

Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds” is the best song ever written about the concept of suspicion. It wasn’t the first time the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll tackled the subject. Elvis recorded a song that later became a hit by an artist whose singing voice was extremely similar to his own. The song in question was allegedly crafted by one of The Beatles’ producers.
Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicion’ is ‘Suspicious Minds’ on its head
Covers were a huge part of the “All Shook Up” singer‘s catalog from the very beginning. His debut album is nothing but covers! It was only fair that other artists should take shots at recording Elvis originals. Terry Stafford was an Elvis soundalike who had one hit song. It was a cover of Elvis’ “Suspicion.”

Elvis Presley‘s “She’s Not You” was written by three of the best songwriters of the early 1960s. It’s no surprise that artists decided to take inspiration from one of the greatest country songs ever. Considering the pedigree of “She’s Not You,” the song itself is pretty disappointing.
Elvis Presley’s ‘She’s Not You’ was inspired by ‘I Really Don’t Want to Know’
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were the songwriting duo behind Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me,” one of the most popular songs ever written. They also teamed up for several Elvis songs, including “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” “Bossa Nova Baby,” and “She’s Not You.”
During a 2006 interview with Elvis Information Network, Leiber revealed what he thought of Elvis’ “She’s Not You.”
“Elvis did a really good job on it,” he opined. “He never did a bad job on any song.

The trailer for Henry Cavill and Dua Lip’s new movie Argylle includes two classic rock songs. One of them is Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.” The use of the song is flattering in one way, but it isn’t doing any favors for Elvis’ posthumous image.
The ‘Argylle’ trailer uses David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ and Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’
Here’s a summary of the Argylle trailer. It starts with a 007-esque spy dancing with a glamorous woman to David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” The scene is elegant, and “Let’s Dance” is an elegant dance song if there ever was one.
We then learn these characters are the fictional creations of an author named Elly Conway. In the real world, criminals feel that Conway is predicting their lives through their books so they target her. The tone of the film gets more comic and a remix of “Suspicious Minds” plays.

Bob Dylan has spent the past few weeks spotlighting local artists and city-specific songs while cross-crossing America on his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. It began October 1 in Kansas City when he opened up with “Kansas City,” continued in St. Louis where he covered two Chuck Berry songs, and carried on in Chicago where he broke out Chicago blues tunes by Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf.

Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds” is suspiciously contradictory. The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll performed the song in a way that destroyed all its cohesion. In fact, the forgotten original version of “Suspicious Minds” makes more sense than Elvis’ cover — at least, from a certain point of view.
‘Suspicious Minds’ has sad lyrics but Elvis Presley sings it like he’s on top of the world
Like every other Elvis song that anyone remembers, “Suspicious Minds” was a cover. The original was written and performed by Mark James, a songwriter most known for penning “Always on My Mind” and “Hooked on a Feeling.” James’ recording has plenty of energy, but his singing is melancholy. Of course, it’s melancholy — the song is about a relationship falling apart!
Elvis’ version feels less like a breakup song and more like it’s supposed to pump up a crowd. He almost sounds too happy when he sings it.

It might surprise listeners to learn Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds” was a cover of a song by Mark James. The same producer worked on both James’ version and Elvis’ rendition. The producer revealed Elvis’ people almost didn’t compensate him properly for his work on the song. Fortunately, someone else resolved the situation.

Chips Moman produced both Mark James’ original version of “Suspicious Minds” and Elvis’ far more famous cover of it. Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds” was a cover of an obscure song. The record label behind the original version of “Suspicious Minds” was certain the tune would become a hit. A legendary country music producer felt the same way. However, the track only became big once the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll recorded it.

“Chips and I went up there and we had a big party,...

Salma Hayek gets a lot of attention for her stunning looks, but her oeuvre proves she's a versatile and formidable actress. From action to drama to comedy, Hayek takes on every role with consummate aplomb. Her talent has garnered Oscar, Golden Globe, and Emmy award nominations.
Hayek started her acting career in the novela "Un Nuevo Amanecer" in the late-1980s. She then appeared in television shows, including "Teresa," "Street Justice," and "Dream On." She made her big screen debut with 1993's "Mi Vida Loca," portraying Gata -- a small yet memorable role. Her feature film debut led to bigger and bigger parts, leading her to become one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. While the 1990s saw her cultivate a reputation as a sex symbol, she's since lent her impressive acting chops to a wide range of films, such as experimental indie flicks, superhero blockbusters, and everything in between.

The late David Bowie often mentioned being a huge Elvis Presley fan throughout his career. In fact, he admired the King’s music so much that he tried to collaborate with him on multiple occasions. Bowie nearly got what he wanted, but unfortunate events got in the way.
David Bowie in 1978 | George Rose/Contributor Elvis Presley once called David Bowie to work together
In 1997, Bowie and country singer Dwight Yoakam were bonding over their love of Presley’s music when Bowie shared an incredible story with him. As reported by Smooth Radio, Yoakam recalled the conversation while talking to the Orange County Register. During the interview, Yoakam revealed that Presley had once called Bowie after hearing one of his hit singles. The King wanted Bowie to produce his next album.

David Bowie fans are convinced his final album holds heavy references to the King of Rock and Roll himself. After recording it secretly, Bowie released Blackstar just two days before he died in 2016. Without the artist’s insight into the project, fans have analyzed the record repeatedly, leading to the theory that there are several references to Elvis Presley.
Elvis Presley had a lesser-known song titled ‘Black Star’
According to The Guardian, the album title is the most convincing link to Presley, as it possibly refers to The King’s less popular song, “Black Star.” Many believe the black star referenced in the lyrics represents death. “Every man has a black star, a black star over his shoulder,” Elvis sings. “And when a man sees his black star, he knows his time, his time has come.”
Even though Bowie kept it hidden from the public, it later came out that...

Entertainer of the Year nominee Chris Stapleton brought out five-time CMA winner Patty Loveless for a haunting collaboration on “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” at the 2022 CMA Awards. The performance aimed to lift up the state of Kentucky, where both singers were raised, and highlight its historic struggles with flooding earlier this year.
The performance began quietly, with only hushed instrumentation before Loveless’ powerful voice took hold. As the song swelled volume, so did the urgency in her voice, giving the narrative about the economic struggles and human costs...

Twenty years seems like a long time, until you’re a person of a certain age and that length of time feels like it passes in the blink of an eye. This is the case with the David Fincher film, “Panic Room,” which was released 20 years ago this week. It surely doesn’t feel like two decades have passed since Fincher, along with his cast of Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Dwight Yoakam, released the blockbuster thriller.
