Lainey Wilson Gets Hulu Documentary
Few country singers have had such a meteoric rise to fame as Lainey Wilson. She became a country music sensation practically overnight. She played a free concert at the New York State Fair to just over 50,000 people in the summer of 2023. A year later, she’s a Grammy winner and headlining her own Country’s Cool Again tour.
She’s quickly become one of the best-selling artists in country music today. The rarity of her seemingly overnight success is the subject of a documentary currently available to stream on Hulu. Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country details her humble beginnings in a small town in Louisiana to...

The Rolling Stones brought out Tyler Childers in Orlando on Monday night, June 3, for a special performance of their Sticky Fingers classic “Dead Flowers.”
Childers upped the number of guitars onstage to at least four, strumming his acoustic guitar to match Mick Jagger’s while Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards (as always) traded licks on electric. Childers also split vocal duties with with Jagger and added an extra layer of harmony to the country-inspired tune.

Country stars Jelly Roll and Ashley McBryde will team up as hosts for ABC’s annual “CMA Fest” special, set to be taped at the festival this week and then air on the network June 25. It’s the first time either singer has hosted a prime-time special.
The 16-day window between the end of CMA Fest and the ABC special bearing its name will seem like a short one to those who remember the long period of years when the special was held back for airing in the dog days of August or September. But the June 25 date represents a big jump even on last year’s accelerated schedule, when “CMA Fest” aired on July 19. The bumping up of the air date suggests a belief that country’s current hot streak merits a more immediate commemoration of the genre’s biggest annual live event, rather than putting it on ice...

The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards are behind us. The show featured some surprise winners amidst expected victories for artists like Lainey Wilson and Luke Combs. As the first major country awards precursor of the year, some of the winners might strike a chord with Grammy voters.
SEE2024 ACM Awards winners list: Who took home Academy of Country Music Awards?
Chris Stapleton’s “Higher” might be coming
One of the show’s biggest wins was “Higher” claiming Album of the Year. The record faced off against Morgan Wallen’s ginormous hit “One Thing at a Time,” the follow-up to his also-huge “Dangerous: The Double Album.” Wallen looked like a strong contender, not only due to his commercial numbers, but because “Dangerous” had previously taken the award home, which was significant considering that it came amidst Morgan’s industry backlash for using a racial slur. Wallen actually tied with Combs for the most category nominations: in a couple of races Combs was doubly nominated as an artist and producer. Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson were next in line with five bids apiece. Jelly Roll and Jordan Davis had four.
A few awards went out early. On May 15 New Artist winners were announced: the aforementioned...

Nominee Ashley McBryde and actor Noah Reid stole the show while presenting Single of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards. The pair performed parodies of this year’s nominees while presenting the award.
Reid has sung a bit on both Outer Range and, most memorably, on Schitt’s Creek, which McBryde complimented at the beginning of their time on stage. Reid said he was nervous presenting at the show, so McBryde pulled out a ukulele and launched into a version of Parker McCollum’s “Burn It Down,” this time about Reid being new in town.

At the ACM Awards on Thursday, Miranda Lambert performed her recently released single, “Wranglers.” She had previously given the tune its debut at the Stagecoach Festival, where she also performed with frequent ACMs host Reba McEntire, in April.
Lambert’s live debut of the track was appropriately fiery, as the cowboy-hat-clad star belted out the slow burn of a track on the ACM stage. Her latest revenge anthem was released earlier this month, her first new single in two years.
Lambert has described “Wranglers” as song about a woman reclaiming power.

Noah Kahan and Kelsea Ballerini gave a two-song duet at the 2024 ACM Awards.
The pair opened with “Mountain With a View,” a song off Ballerini’s ACM Album of the Year nominee Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good), before segueing into the title track of Kahan’s breakthrough album Stick Season. Ballerini took the stage solo, singing from a couch before Kahan launched into his megahit amidst tall grass. The pair ended up mashing up their two tracks before Ballerini joined Kahan in singing the catchy, inescapable chorus of “Stick Season.

Lainey Wilson opened the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards with a one-two punch of country flair: a cover of Little Texas’s 1993 hit “God Blessed Texas” and the TV debut of her own “Hang Tight Honey.”
Flanked by her road band (with whom she recorded her upcoming album Whirlwind), Wilson, dazzling in red, roared through “Hang Tight Honey,” a high-octane country banger about reassuring your lover that you’re on your way home. “Just one more day to get through,” she sang. “Hang tight honey got a pocket full of...

It is possible to be “scared of nothin’ and … scared to death” at the same, at least so says Luke Combs, who holds his own bellowing about the virtues of the Sooner State over a torrent of wind and rain in the video for his new song, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song comes off the upcoming soundtrack to Twisters, the 28-years-late sequel to Twister (and grammarians will note that Combs’ double-negative suggests there is love in Oklahoma, even if it’s a North Carolinian turned Nashvillian singing his heart out.

Is Reba McEntire running a little behind Bob Hope, as an awards-show-hosting perennial… or actually a little bit ahead? It depends how you count. Because this year marks her 17th year hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards, aka the ACMs, and Hope did the Oscars 19 times, so she’s still two years from matching his record, if we compare these gigs.
However, McEntire has also hosted a rival program, the CMA Awards, five times over the years. So if we include all the times that McEntire has hosted one country awards program or another, she’s actually up to 22, if we’re doing our math right… well ahead of Hope. Something’s clicking, to say the least.
Variety clicked onto a Zoom with McEntire for a few minutes in the run-up to Thursday night’s ACM Awards, which for the third year are being broadcast live exclusively on Prime...

Chris Stapleton took the stage during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show for a special performance of “Loving You on My Mind.” The song, which appears on the musician’s latest studio album, Higher, was elevated to the next level as Stapleton was joined by Hudson herself and the country duo the War and Treaty.
Stapleton kicked off the song with the War and Treaty, singing alongside his band. About halfway through, following one of the singer’s soulful guitar solos, Hudson emerged from side stage to bring the performance home.

Lainey Wilson tells her lover to chill out just a bit longer and she’ll be home soon in her barn-burning new song “Hang Tight Honey.”

In a recent interview, Tyler Hubbard, one-half of the country music duo Florida Georgia Line, opened up about the reasons behind the group’s surprising breakup in 2022. Hubbard and his bandmate Brian Kelley had been making music together for over a decade, churning out hit after hit and building a devoted fanbase. So, what led to the end of this successful partnership?
Florida Georgia Line’s Nashville Restaurant Abruptly Closes
In addition to making country music hits, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley opened a Nashville restaurant together. Fgl House opened in 2017, one of the first bars in Nashville bearing the name of a country music star.
Bars connected to artists such as Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Garth Brooks have since opened in downtown Nashville. A bar owned by Morgan Wallen will open over Memorial Day weekend.
The congested bar scene on Broadway in Nashville is down one watering hole.

Taylor Sheridan brought anyone with an experience on the ranch into his show Yellowstone. This included the acclaimed country musician Ryan Bingham. Bingham plays the guest role of a ranch hand, Walker, in the series. Interestingly, Sheridan is a big fan of the singer’s music and listened to one of his songs on a loop while writing the script for his pre-Yellowstone film, Wind River.

The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. He has appeared as a featured performer in the last three months with arguably the three biggest acts in the music business right now: Beyonce (on her country-driven album “Cowboy Carter”), Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen (on the just-released joint single “I Had Some Help”). He also did one of the most watched sets at Stagecoach, doing a performance of classic country covers. Although it’s...
