Pennsylvania GOP Lawmakers Boo & Jeer Police Officers Who Defended Capitol On Jan. 6 During Speeches
In a stark display of the continued partisan divide over the January 6 attack, two police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol on the fateful day faced a hostile reception from GOP lawmakers at a visit to the Pennsylvania state House on Wednesday.
Former Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and former U.S. Capitol Police Sergeant Aquilino Gonell were introduced by Democratic state House Speaker Joanna McClinton as part of their statewide tour to discuss the threat to American democracy. However, their appearance was met with jeers, boos and walkouts from a majority of Republican lawmakers, while Democrats in the chamber stood and applauded the officers.
The stark contrast in reactions underscores the deep political chasm that remains over the events of January 6, 2021. Democrats praised the former officers’ heroism and sacrifice, while Republicans, many of whom have continued to downplay or deny the severity of the attack, responded with derision and disrespect.

A Sky television retail outlet in Manchester, England as it appeared in April 2022.
A 52-year-old British man was arrested by local police on suspicion of fraud and money laundering in connection with an illegal broadcast operation involving programming from Sky television.
The man, who was not named, was detained by police in the northeast England town of Stockton-on-Tees following a raid on a business there.
According to investigators, the business is believed to be connected to a large-scale pirate TV operation in which copyrighted programming from Sky’s pay services were distributed illegally through the Internet.
The police operation was organized by the North East Regional Organized Crime Unit (Nerocu). A spokesperson claimed illegal streaming TV services “help fund wider organized crime such as human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, drug supply and other sinister crimes,” though the agency offered no specific evidence to support this.

Few might remember John McTiernan's 2003 military thriller "Basic," a film that was, at the time, touted as a grand reunion between "Pulp Fiction" stars John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. Because of its star power, "Basic" cost $50 million to make, but raked in a paltry $43 million at the box office. It currently sits at a 21% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and I recall reading Roger Ebert's scathing one-star review with a wince; Ebert said that "Basic" was "was not a film that could be understood," stating that it was so twisty and full of trickery that is might be better called a "jerk-around movie." To elucidate on Ebert's point, the plot description for "Basic" on Wikipedia runs eleven paragraphs. The film is only 98 minutes long.
The plot can, however, be explained (kind of), and we shall now, dear readers, endeavor to unpack this forgotten 2003 thriller for all future generations.

Steven Spielberg arranged a military boot camp for his Band of Brothers actors just like he did with Saving Private Ryan and his brutal ‘Method’ tactics paid off. By the end of their training under Vietnam veteran Captain Dale Dye, the small group of actors formed a close bond like their real-life counterparts, the Easy Company’s paratroopers. However, they went through a lot of misery before Spielberg achieved what he wanted.

Band of Brothers was created by Spielberg and Tom Hanks for BBC Two, and Erik Jendresen served as the showrunner. It came three years after Spielberg and Hanks’s successful collaboration in Saving Private Ryan.

Despite what you may think, Memorial Day isn’t just a day off work or an occasion for a good storewide mattress sale. The ostensible purpose of this federal holiday, of course, is to remember the sacrifice of those who have died while serving in our country’s five armed services branches: the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy—all of which continue to suffer great losses performing their duties around the globe.
The experiences of servicemen and servicewomen have served as the basis of countless movies and TV shows over the years, in all sorts of different forms. But the most powerful of these are the ones based upon actual journalistic accounts from real-life soldiers. So in advance of Memorial Day on Monday, here are five military-themed indies we love…

The Beverly Hills Cop movie series started in 1984 and it was one of the works that made Eddie Murphy a household star in the 80s and 90s. The first two movies were highly successful, but the third movie was a box office bomb and was panned by critics; today, it is considered to be the weakest movie in the series. Now, in 2024, amidst the revival/reboot craze, Axel Foley is back once again as Murphy tries to revive his career after a series of failures and controversies. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is the fourth movie in the series and it will be released by Netflix on July 3, 2024 globally.
As we wait for the premiere, Netflix has just released the first official trailer for the upcoming movie, several months after the initial teaser was released. We on Fiction Horizon are bringing you the trailer for your enjoyment!

[This story contains spoilers from the May 22 finale of Chicago Pd, “More.”]
Chicago Pd’s season 11 finale — titled “More” — gives its viewers more than just an emotional sendoff of longtime fan-favorite character Detective Hailey Upton, played by Tracy Spiridakos, a young, loner police officer who spent nearly eight seasons dealing with deep emotional traumas from her backstory (her father was an alcoholic and physically abused her mother, Upton and her siblings when they were children). But the season’s 13th episode also provided closure for Jason Beghe’s Sergeant Hank Voight, who, like his protégé Upton, also walked a solitary path of loneliness and despair. But, were they alone?
“More” reveals that Upton and Voight may have felt alone, but they actually had each other. Subconsciously and consciously, they held one another up in their shattered lives of past failures, regrets, pains and heartaches. But for the two of them to really see and feel that bond, it would take violence, blood...

The hit and miss nature of both early 2000s horror and the premise are quite obvious in today’s selection. While the original Willard and its sequel Ben are known entities, it’s not like they are the heaviest of hitters in terms of horror property. In fact, Willard is Exactly the type of property that I will always argue needs a remake. Well, needs is a strong word, but it lends itself better to a remake than something as perfect as the first Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Willard is a solid movie but underseen by today’s audience and would have maybe been more attractive to the audiences of 21 years ago who maybe grew up with the original. Sadly, that didn’t happen as it was arguably one of 2003’s biggest flops and that’s a huge bummer because not only is the movie fun with great, mostly practical effects,...

He messes up, he patches up, he attacks, but he also protects. Richard Rankin’s scruffy cop is the kind of character that we have seen in so many things, but that doesn’t at all mean Rebus doesn’t make a good show. In fact, the latest BBC adaptation of Sir Ian Rankin’s novels is quite fantastic. It is dark, gritty, mostly grim, and extremely Scottish—exactly the kind of thing you would expect from a show like this. Rebus is solidly made, very well-acted, and offers you a lot of thrills. The series doesn’t particularly end on a cohesive note, though, and that’s where this article might come in handy. Let us jump in.

The original 1994 adaptation of The Crow still has a huge, loyal following, so there was already a certain amount of scepticism surrounding Lionsgate's decision to develop a reboot. When the first trailer was released, that apprehension turned to outright disgust for a lot of fans.
Are people being a little quick to judge based off a single teaser? Perhaps, but for many, Brandon Lee will always be the only Eric Draven, and that's all there is to it.
Total Film interviewed Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson, who played heroic cop Sergeant Daryl Albrecht in The Crow, for the Goth classic's 30th anniversary, and the actor admitted that he's only recently been able to revisit the film due to the tragic accident that ended Lee's life during filming.

With only one episode of Chicago P.D. to go with Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton, we can’t help but think that the show is running out of time to reunite her and Jay Halstead. But will it? Given where Upton’s story has been going this season, we have to admit that we’re leaning towards no—and it shouldn’t. The season began with her signing divorce papers amidst her struggling at work, and we’ve watched that play out during conversations with both Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Svu’s Detective Josephine “Jo” Petrovic (Bojana Novakovic). One thing that has become clear is that however Upton is written out, it has to be about her, not about her relationship with Halstead. Would a hint that they may have a future be great? Yes, after watching their love story play out over multiple seasons and...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s Blue Bloods Season 14 midseason finale, which is the close of the first part of the NYPD family drama’s final season.
“Father, forgive me for I have sinned,” says New York Police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) in church in tonight’s Blue Bloods last midseason finale as he tries to repair a rift with his actual father, the former NYPD commissioner Henry Reagan (Len Cariou).
It ain’t the Sunday dinner that defines the well-watched CBS series, but it certainly was a moment of affirmation for perspicacious fans who may be speculating where their show is going to go in its final episodes after a long long run. Put another way, Blue Bloods may be ending later this year, but you’d never know it from the Season 14 midseason finale that aired tonight.

Two of Britain’s biggest stars won top honors at the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday: Timothy Spall finally prevailed in the Best Actor race after three previous bids while Sarah Lancashire collected a bookend Best Actress award for the third and final season of “Happy Valley”; she’d won for season 2 back in 2017 and has a supporting prize for “Last Tango in Halifax” as well.
Backstage, Spall readily admitted, “I’m over the moon about this. I just am. So often the bridesmaid, today I catch the bouquet.” He then pondered the importance and meaning of awards ceremonies. “When you keep losing them, you think they’re a load of bollocks. And then you win and you think well, actually… Really, I suppose, in a way, they are both — they’re magnificent and they are an in-house thing. Paul Walter Hauser is shaping up to have a major 2025.
The actor has joined the respective casts of both Fantastic Four and Naked Gun reboots currently set to arrive one week apart from each other in July 2025. Deadline confirmed both castings today, and they follow Hauser’s addition as the leading role in Josh Gad’s upcoming Chris Farley biopic.
In Paramount’s new Naked Gun reboot, Hauser will play Captain Ed, a role inhabited by George Kennedy in the original film franchise. He joins Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, who are confirmed to appear as Sergeant Frank Drebin Jr. and his love interest, respectively. The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer will direct, with Seth MacFarlane serving as a producer. The film is set to premiere on July 18th, 2025.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot has several plot details still under wraps, so it’s unknown which character Hauser is set to play.
