As work continues on DC Studios' Superman reboot, filmmaker James Gunn has shared another behind-the-scenes photo featuring the movie's cast...and a couple of friends.
In his Threads post, we see Mikaela Hoover (Cat Grant), Christopher McDonald (Ron Troupe), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Pa Kent), along with some unnamed producers and Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker.
Gunn insists that his old pal only stopped by for a visit, though it was rumoured a while back that he's been cast as Lois Lane's father, General Sam Lane. While we don't necessarily expect Rooker to appear in Superman, it's not outside the realm of possibility despite Gunn's claims to the contrary.
The Superman writer and director also recently answered a fan question on Facebook about whether Jonathan Kent will be alive in the movie, bluntly responding with, "Well, I don't think I'd hire Pruitt to...

Cameras are still rolling on James Gunn's Superman reboot and even though the filmmaker has said he'll miss Comic-Con, we're hoping something from the movie will be shared in Hall H.
A teaser trailer is possible, if somewhat unlikely, but DC Studios could do with winning sceptical fans over after sharing that divisive first shot of David Corenswet suited up as the Man of Tomorrow.
In the meantime, the clapperboard/slate from Superman has been revealed and it puts that eye-catching new logo front and centre. Inspired by Kingdom Come and some of the hero's earliest comic book adventures, it makes for a striking piece of imagery.
While this logo was used in The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover when Brandon Routh donned it to play an older version of Superman Returns' Clark Kent, those DC TV shows weren't exactly mainstream. As a result, many moviegoers who aren't...

Much has been made of the upcoming Superman project which will star David Corenswet as the titular character. The first movie under the new Dcu banner is being headed entirely by the chief James Gunn, who is both the director and the screenwriter for this project.
Set for a July 2025 release, not much is known about the film, which was previously titled Superman: Legacy.

With the project under production currently, it seems as if Gunn has his fair share of peculiar demands, even when it comes to the background actors who will be featured in it. A recent X post details the kind of asks that have been made with respect to the background actors, and a motion capture performer that the creators are currently looking to hire.

We got a first look at the new LexCorp logo earlier today, and as filming continues on James Gunn's Dcu Superman reboot in Cleveland, Ohio, these videos from the Headlands Beach State Park set give us a glimpse of some stunt rehearsals.
The footage was shot from quite a distance away, but we can make out several figures practising combat moves in the sand.
Are these stunt performers or some of the actors from the movie? It's very difficult to tell, but there's been speculation that the guy in the black shirt moving into shot from the left might be David Corenswet (he certainly has the right build).
At the very least, this confirms that we're going to see some super-powered individuals engage in a hand-to-hand scrap.
Check out the videos at the links below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Aside from a few blurry shots of Gabriela de Faría's Engineer, we've yet to see any noteworthy photos from the set of Superman. On the few occasions the movie has been shot in the open, the set has been surrounded by barricades to hide what's happening from fans and photographers.
In many ways, we can't complain about that because it maintains the element of surprise. Still, it's frustrating to not get any sneak peeks as those more often than not build excitement for movies like this one.
Regardless, some new snaps have surfaced today and while there are no cast members on hand, we do get to see the updated LuthorCorp logo. This looks like a makeshift military base, though it's unclear whether Lex Luthor has anything to do with what's happening here.

It seems we’ll be seeing a lot of the Daily Planet in James Gunn’s Superman, as the director has assembled quite the cast of characters to fill the ranks of the newspaper. THR reports that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of Superman as Cat Grant and Ron Troupe, respectively.
Cat Grant is a gossip columnist who was introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway and has made the leap to live-action several times before, notably by Tracy Scoggins in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and by Calista Flockhart in Supergirl. As for Ron Troupe, the character was created by Jerry Ordway and Tom Grummett and is regarded as one of the Daily Planet’s best reporters. Superman director James Gunn recently shared an Instagram photo with several actors from the Dcu reboot, leading to speculation that the two new faces in the pic had joined the cast.
Sure enough, THR is now reporting that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald will appear in the movie as Clark Kent and Lois Lane's fellow Daily Planet newshounds.
Hoover will play Cat Grant, "a gossip columnist who had her eyes set on Kent," and MacDonald is playing Ron Troupe, "one of the best reporters in the newsroom."
Hoover has appeared in several previous Gunn-directed and produced movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and The Belko Experiment. McDonald - not to be confused with the veteran Happy Gilmore actor - is a newcomer to the screen.

James Gunn is filling out the Daily Planet newsroom.
Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of Gunn’s Superman, the inaugural movie of DC Studios.
The feature is currently in production in Atlanta with David Corenswet starring as Clark Kent/Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan playing Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
The duo will have company on the news desk. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett had joined the production to play Steve Lombard, a blowhard and self-serving reporter who in the comics serves as a foil to boy scout reporter Kent.
Sources tell THR that Hoover is playing Cat Grant, who in the comics was a gossip columnist who had her eyes set on Kent. The character, created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway, has appeared in several TV shows, most notably in CW’s Supergirl in which she was played by Calista Flockhart.

Yesterday, we shared a speculative report about former Saturday Night Live cast member Beck Bennett potentially joining the cast of James Gunn's Superman.
Several hours later, the Hollywood trades confirmed the casting and Gunn has since revealed Bennett's role. As expected, he's playing The Daily Planet's Steve Lombard.
The character was created by Cary Bates and Curt Swan and first appeared in 1973's Superman #264. On the page, Lombard is a sports reporter, and later a sports anchor, for The Daily Planet, the same newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work.
Known for his brash and often arrogant personality, Lombard is depicted as a former professional football player who brings his jock mentality to the newsroom. He is notorious for playing practical jokes on his colleagues, especially Clark Kent, whom he perceives as a mild-mannered and unassuming reporter.

Could it be time for a familiar face to soar once again through the DC universe? Michael Rosenbaum, whose turn as the infamous Lex Luthor earned him a legion of fans in Alfred Gough & Miles Millar’s iconic Smallville series, may just have the key to unlocking his return to James Gunn’s Dcu—under one clear, heartfelt condition.
With a candid moment tinged with possibilities, Rosenbaum recently shared that he would be thrilled to play the incredibly complex villain, given the right pitch and call from his friend James Gunn. The Smallville series followed Clark (played by Tom Welling) as he learned about his Kryptonian ancestry and eventually underwent the training that would prepare him to become Superman.

Lex Luthor is one of the most formidable yet fan-favorite villains of DC comics. Thanks to his unparalleled intellect and vast reach, the character has always been a menace for the Man of Steel. Superman has time and again used his strength to battle and put Luthor’s menacing plans to rest, throughout the countless issues of DC comics.

As filming for James Gunn's Superman continues, production has moved to Lagrange, Georgia, which will be the location for the scenes taking place at the Kent Farm.
No matter where his adventures took him, the Man of Steel has always returned home to see his folks in all previous Superman-based movies and TV shows, and it seems the upcoming Dcu reboot will be no different.
While they don't reveal very much, the first photos from the set have now been shared online. We're not sure if one of these buildings is the actual Kent home, as they may simply be other structures on or around the property.
"Pa" and "Ma" Kent will be played by Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.

The late Richard Donner, director of Superman, made some of the most acclaimed and memorable films of the 70s and 80s. He was the go-to director for action blockbusters and entertaining cinema ranging from superhero films to buddy-cop comedies. He directed iconic films such as The Omen, The Goonies, The Lethal Weapon franchise, and Superman.

My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. So, if you love the heart, optimism, great story, and fantastic animation...

By all accounts, Christopher Reeve was one of the kindest and most giving men in the business, something that so many of his co-stars and friends gave back. For those lucky enough to work alongside him on screens both big and small – even just once – it will always be a special moment. This holds true even in far lesser fare, as Superman III co-star Annette O’Toole remembers just how giving Reeve was even off the set.
Speaking with MovieWeb, Annette O’Toole – who played Clark Kent’s childhood friend Lana Lang – remembered the time that Christopher Reeve took her to a Simon & Garfunkel concert at Wembley Stadium while she was still trying to get acclimated to the environment. “[They] just kind of introduced me to the world as being part of this huge movie. As filming continues on James Gunn's Dcu Superman reboot, the Guardians of the Galaxy director has shared an update on the progress of the production.
Responding to a fan on social media who asked when we can expect a first trailer, Gunn revealed that we're going to be waiting another while, as the movie is now "just over halfway through" shooting.
Production recently moved to Macon, Georgia, and a photo was shared to X/Twitter of a heavily tarped-up set. Cameras are not expected to start rolling until early next month, but Gunn and co. definitely seem to be taking every precaution to ensure that spy shots don't leak online.

Last week, Amazon made its first-ever pitch to advertisers at the annual upfronts in New York; for Netflix, it was the first it’s done in person. The streamers also pitched a whole new kind of TV show: movies.
When ad-supported tiers came to platforms like Netflix and Disney+ last year, streamers joined the annual network ritual of presenting their slates to media buyers. However, this was the first time that films entered the spotlight.
Budget-minded streaming subscribers are familar with film and TV pre-rolls as well as the ads that may drop between or during TV episodes. So far, movies and movie lovers have been spared the dreaded mid-roll — the advertisement that shows up during a movie, where it was never meant to be.
That doesn’t mean it can’t be. Brad Adgate, a media consultant and the former research director at Horizon Media, believes advertisers would jump...

My Adventures With Superman is part of a heroic lineage of shows that follow the Big Blue Boy Scout of Metropolis but still fall short in one area. Superman: The Animated Series still remains one of the best iterations of the character and his mythos, and not just because it is an important iteration of the character. It is also down to the fact that Superman got to play around in a connected universe with other heroes, especially Batman.
My Adventures With Superman Season 2 | Adult Swim
Superman: The Animated Series shared a universe with Batman: The Animated Series and the two Justice League shows helmed by Bruce Timm. This facilitated some crossovers, such as when Bruce Wayne showed up in Superman: The Animated Series, which added a lot to the show, and was considered one of its best episodes.

In mainstream media nowadays, there is a serious scarcity of inspiring, interesting superheroes, as cynicism and edginess have taken over the minds of fans and creators alike. The moral simplicity, high ideals, empathy, and compassion that defined the superheroes of yesteryear and the golden age have been replaced with the amoral, apathetic, grim self-projections of makers—created in such a way in a vain effort to make the characters ‘relatable’ to the audience. Even in such dreary, tedious situations, works like My Adventures with Superman exemplify the best potential of the genre by holding on to so-called old-timey ideals. The animated series has redefined the age-old saga of the Man of Steel for a new generation in such a way that it not only counters the prevalent bitterness of the genre as a whole but also acts as a blueprint for updated adaptations of iconic stories.

DC’s My Adventures With Superman is returning for a second season and the makers seemed to have pulled all the stops to make it a bigger and better follow-up to the hit show. The animated series stars Jack Quaid as Superman and Alice Lee voicing Lois Lane. The show also sees Jimmy Olsen as a significant part of the trio.
While the show has references to multiple other DC characters and artifacts, it has yet to feature one of the IP’s most popular characters Batman. While the show had a reference to Gotham in the first season, producer Jack Wyatt seemed to have a disappointing update about the Caped Crusader’s presence in the second season of the show.

When My Adventures With Superman debuted last year, it felt like a breath of fresh air amidst a sea of overly dark and dreary takes on the character and on the DC Universe in general. Here was a show that allowed Superman to be a symbol of hope, that allowed Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen to be three-dimensional characters with depth and charm, and allowed the larger DC Universe to be vibrant, bombastic, and centered on literally anyone not named Batman.
Now, the newly minted fan-favorite has returned to screens for its second season. With the origin out of the way and the stakes higher than ever, can the show keep the momentum going and deliver an animated DC show on par with the beloved Animated Universe of old? Yes, the answer is yes. Though please keep in mind that this review only pertains to the first two episodes,...

There have been several iterations of Superman (at least 35) ever since the character made his debut in the DC Comics. Adapting the stories for the bigger screens, there has never been (as far as we know) a Superman who is unsure of himself.

Exclusive: UTA has signed rising Portuguese actress Sara Sampaio (Superman) for representation, Deadline has learned.
Sampaio is best known for landing the coveted role of Eve Teschmacher in Superman, which is currently in production with James Gunn at the helm. The first title in a revamped DC slate, Superman follows the titular character, played by David Corenswet, as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Created by Richard Donner and Mario Puzo, and first appearing in Superman and Superman II, Sampaio’s character is portrayed in the comics as Lex Luthor’s assistant turned love interest and right hand. Back in March, I wrote a column about the Netflix Effect, and the boost that non-Netflix shows often get when they arrive on the streaming giant. One of the series I used as an example was Resident Alien, starring Alan Tudyk as an extraterrestrial posing as a Colorado small-town doctor after being stranded by a spaceship crash; I had barely watched it in its primary home on Syfy, only to begin bingeing it once the first two seasons joined the Netflix library. Superman may be colloquially known as "The Big Blue Boy Scout," but sometimes, he can be straight up villainous. Sure, he's saved Metropolis (and the world) more times than any individual can count, however, that doesn't excuse his moments of cruelty and authoritarian-brand of justice.
The most interesting aspect of Superman as a character derives from his immortality on Earth. Short of using Kryptonite, our measly human-made weapons never account for much damage against the Man of Steel. The only thing stopping Clark Kent/Superman from taking over the world or causing serious harm is his sense of righteousness.
While Supes, for the most part, doesn't allow his ego or greed to corrupt him, he's certainly made some questionable decisions across his nearly-90 year history. As we prepare for the cinematic return of Superman with James Gunn's "Superman: Legacy," let's remind ourselves that even our most morally straight hero falters.

While we'd expected James Gunn to cast a couple of big names as Superman's Ma and Pa Kent, the filmmaker instead chose to find two actors he felt embody the characters, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.
There's still no word on who, if anyone, will play Jor-El (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell remains the rumoured fan favourite) but we're expecting Jonathan and Martha to be a huge part of Clark Kent's story. Here's hoping neither of them meets a tragic end, anyway!

Superman director James Gunn recently invited a group of "comic book titans" to the set of the currently-shooting Dcu reboot, and one of them, Scott Snyder, has now shared a report on his visit.
Snyder, who has worked on numerous DC titles featuring characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Swamp Thing, posted a lengthy account of his experience to his personal blog. He keeps things spoiler-free (of course), but does write about meeting David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) in-costume, and witnessing a "stunt" scene involving their characters being filmed.
Have a read through some excerpts below.

Scarlett Johansson, previously announced as the producer of a confidential Marvel project, marks her debut in this role. Following her lawsuit against Disney after the simultaneous release of ‘Black Widow’ in theaters and on Disney+ in July 2021, which was resolved two months later, Johansson’s portrayal of Natasha Romanoff has concluded. However, fans can anticipate her involvement in an upcoming MCU project she’ll produce alongside Kevin Feige.
Recent reports suggest that Scarlett Johansson is presently collaborating with Disney+ on a secretive venture. The clue emerged from Courtney Baker, a creative executive at Marvel Studios, who updated her LinkedIn profile, hinting at new developments or responsibilities within the company.
According to Giant Freaking Robot, the project under wraps is a live-action series centered on Blonde Phantom. It remains uncertain if Scarlett will portray Blonde Phantom or if her involvement will be purely behind-the-scenes. However, with the current Multiverse theme, her leading role seems plausible.
