Molly Tuttle’s covers EP …but i’d rather be with you, too was a quiet surprise upon its release earlier this month, with the bluegrass singer, songwriter and guitarist interpreting songs like “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with guests like Nathaniel Rateliff. On Thursday, Tuttle released a live performance video of her rendition of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough” with Americana songwriter Madison Cunningham.

Charlie Worsham’s Every Damn Monday concerts have been a highlight of the Nashville summer for the past four years. This year, a tornado decimated the regular home of Worsham’s residency, the Basement East, and then the pandemic struck. Undeterred, Worsham has announced a livestream version set for November 18th — a Wednesday — at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. Dubbed “Every Damn Five Years,” the show features a diverse group of special guests, including Worsham’s bandmate in Old Crow Medicine Show, Ketch Secor.

Music is something that speaks so differently to every person. What one person hears in a song might not be what another hears. Sure, there are some songs that are just feel-good music that brings everyone to their feet to move their bodies and dance, and then there are songs that are just a little bit different. The key to being a talented musician is to create music that makes people feel whether it is deep emotion or simply a feeling of excitement. Molly Tuttle is a musician who does just that. She makes music that makes us think, that

Virtuoso singer-guitarist Molly Tuttle shows off the diversity of her taste on the upcoming all-covers album …But I’d Rather Be With You, set for release on August 28th via Compass Records. The first preview of the album, an atmospheric remake of the National’s “Fake Empire,” is out now.
Replacing the original’s insistent low-end piano rumble with rhythmically complex strums of acoustic guitar and waves of droning feedback, Tuttle still captures the grown-up anxiety and denial that the National put forth in their recording from 2007’s Boxer. The...

Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor goes it alone in the new song “Quarantined” — but he sure would like to have some company. A lighthearted ode to be being separated from the one you love, the track finds the man-out-of-time musician suffering through two full weeks without as much as an embrace.
“I wanna hug you and hold you tight/but I gotta wait 14 nights,” Secor sings in the ragtime number, lamenting the sad truth that “one little cough can kill us all.” He even works in a reference...

For bluegrass virtuoso Molly Tuttle, Neil Young’s “Helpless” has been a concert staple for years, often played as an encore in her live shows. Now she has released a studio version of the song, which Young issued 50 years ago this past March with his then-band mates David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Driven by a simple folk melody and stark, yet color-filled lyrics, Tuttle’s plaintive take on the tune also showcases the members of Old Crow Medicine Show.

Old Crow Medicine Show provide a rallying cry for the city of Nashville and a message of positivity for the world at large in the new song “Nashville Rising.”

Before cleanup was even completed, Nashville, like the rest of the country, was dealt a blow from the sweeping coronavirus pandemic.

Although Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium has hosted concerts and events from virtually every musical genre in its 128-year history, its integral role in the birth of bluegrass is one of the hallowed venue’s most important claims to fame. Shortly after its restoration and renovation led to the reopening of the Ryman in June 1994, two of the world’s most influential bluegrass artists, Alison Krauss and Bill Monroe, took the stage for the first of what has become an annual tradition: the Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman concert series.

As Jason Isbell eases into another run of sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium, it’s tempting to take the songwriting hero — whose Ryman residencies stretch back to 2014 — for granted.
He’s driven. He’s dependable. And ever since Southeastern relaunched his solo career five years ago, he’s rarely stumbled, releasing three award-winning albums that find him embracing fatherhood, singing the praises of wife (and muse) Amanda Shires and attempting to negotiate some sort of peace with today’s politically pointed world. Rarely has Americana music sounded so consistent and compelling.
