Among the various successful lineups of Disney’s Pixar, it features popular titles like Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and many more. However, there is one underrated franchise that does not get the wholehearted love it deserves. It is none other than Cars. The film is often overlooked but it is surely one of the classic films that is enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Though one would assume from the title that the story is merely about some automobiles, its central themes are much more complex and center more than just vehicles. The film teaches us grounded values with a gripping storyline in a fast-paced racing world. But the film is much deeper than that as it became Paul Newman’s most popular film giving him a fitting tribute before he passed away in 2008.

The original Bad Boys debuted nearly 30 years ago, and even with a first-time director, two stars untested at the box office and a scramble to finish the script, nothing could handcuff the film’s success.
After a string of hits that included Flashdance, Beverly Hills Cop and Top Gun, producing partners Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer began developing a buddy-cop script from George Gallo (Midnight Run) called Bulletproof Heart. Saturday Night Live standouts Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz were eyed to star, but Will Smith and Martin Lawrence ultimately landed the leads. (In 2013, Arsenio Hall told The Hollywood Reporter about his regret over having turned down Smith’s part: “Sometimes I made bad choices.”)
At the time, Smith and Lawrence were starring on the sitcoms The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin, respectively, and neither had led a studio movie. Making his feature directorial debut was Michael Bay, known for music videos and commercials.

Technically, some would argue this is not exactly a documentary because some of the sequences are staged or composed of shots taken at totally different times, but scientific accuracy and cinematic authenticity aren’t really the point; this isn’t didactic film-making in the David Attenborough or even March of the Penguins tradition, crafted to drop a bit of natural history knowledge on the viewer. That said, if you sit through the end credits, you’ll at least learn some of the featured creatures’ Latin and French names,...

After CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach last month permanently closed the door to Blue Bloods continuing beyond its upcoming final 8 episodes this fall, one of Paramount Global’s Office of the CEO members today opened the door to the franchise potentially carrying on.
During Paramount Global’s shareholder meeting this morning, Brian Robbins noted that Paramount is home of 14 brands across film and TV that have generated at least $1B in revenue, including NCIS, South Park, Yellowstone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol and Star Trek.
“We are building tomorrow’s billion dollar brands right now” he added. “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions and Blue Bloods, and CBS’ hit Fire Country shows huge promise.”
Spinoffs for Dexter, Billions, Fire Country as well as NCIS have been announced; there has been no official word on a Blue Bloods offshoot yet.

This article from the Disney+ series The Acolyte (2024) Season 1 Episode 2 contains significant spoilers.
The second episode of the inaugural season of The Acolyte begins with Mae breaking into a local Jedi temple in Olega. She pays a local child to distract security. When she arrives, she enters the sleeping quarters of a man named Torbin. He looks like a Jedi, meditating or sleeping while hovering in the air.
Mae tells Torbin he must pay and asks him to attack her with everything he has, but he doesn’t move or open his eyes. She begins to attack, but clearly, some shield prevents her from getting close to him. The sharp knives Mae used to kill Indara also do not pierce the shield. Mae hears someone approaching, so she escapes through a window in the ceiling.
Mae visits a friend in town, Qimir. She needs a weapon to kill the “impenetrable” Torbin.

What are the greatest action movies of all time? It’s a controversial question, isn’t it? Any time any publication or site puts out a new list of what they consider the best action movies of all time, it can’t help but generate a ton of controversy. Nevertheless, we here at JoBlo have decided to throw our hats into the ring with a list we really hope generates some nostalgia among our viewers but also encourages them to seek out the movies on this list that they may not have seen. But first, some may wonder where superhero movies are on this list. Given how broad that genre is, we decided to stick to old-school action, so we have left them off the list, as they deserve their own ranking. There are also a few absences from the list, notably some Jackie Chan films (like Police Story), with...

The year was 2022 and the theatres were suffering due to the pandemic the world was in. They found their savior in Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick which made over a billion dollars at the box office. The film stayed in the number one spot for months before being dethroned by Avatar: The Way of Water in December. If there’s one thing you need to know about ‘90s blockbuster breeze-fest Twister, it’s this: it really delivers on the ‘twister’ front. If you’re going to make a film intended to bring audiences right into the eye of the storm-chasing profession, you’d better ensure they emerge from the auditorium feeling suitably windswept. And so, when devising long-awaited sequel-of-sorts Twisters, arriving later this summer, filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (predominantly known for much-less-blockbustery awards favourite Minari) knew he had to really deliver on the weather front.
That meant battering his astonishing cast of rising Hollywood stars – including Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos – with all kinds of practical wind effects. “This is an elemental story, so I wanted us to go as practical as possible,” Chung tells Empire. “We really tore things up. We had jet engines blowing. We had fans so massive you’d lose your hearing without earplugs.

Jeremy Renner starred in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol in 2011 and later returned for 2015's Rogue Nation. After that, his character - Imf agent William Brandt - exited the long-running action series, though Renner was indeed asked back for Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018.
Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie only wanted him on set for a week, though...so he could kill off Brandt!
"I remember they tried to bring me over for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, 'No, you don’t get to do that. You’re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,' like get out of here!" Renner recently told Josh Horowitz (via ActioNewz.com). "If you’re going to do this and you’re going to use my character, you’re going to do it right."
"I yelled at [director Christopher McQuarrie]," the actor added with a laugh.

Jeremy Renner has revealed that he was asked to appear in 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout but refused when he found out his character was going to be killed off.
Long time appreciators of the Mission: Impossible franchise will probably remember that Jeremy Renner had a prominent role alongside Tom Cruise in two movies before mysteriously vanishing around the middle of the 2010s.
It turns out there’s a good reason for this: having previously appeared in 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and 2015’s Rogue Nation, Renner was invited to return as globe-trotting agent William Brandt for a third time in 2018’s Fallout. Then the actor discovered that the film’s plot would see his character killed off after just a few scenes, and so he flatly refused to appear.

Let’s just say that at this point, ‘Mission: Impossible’ can’t afford to keep having setbacks, but they do. After the double Hollywood strikes paused production on the blockbuster movie and led to a postponed release, malfunction with a £23 million submarine is adding further chaos into the mix.
Producers Are Not Happy About the Submarine Malfunction As Production Delays Lead To Massive Costs For Studio
‘Mission: Impossible’ has always used technological marvels to thrill fans and this time, they’re reportedly seeking to employ a submarine to continue this legacy.
This, of course, is not always easy to achieve as reports say that the gimbal, which is used to lower the 120ft-high structure, jammed under its weight, now needing repairs.
A source told The Mirror: “They’re not happy as it puts production behind, which costs a lot of money per day.”

When Glen Powell was initially offered the role of Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick, the actor wasn’t initially keen on playing the character. However, things might not have been the same if Powell hadn’t instilled some changes in his Top Gun 2 counterpart, which was initially written to be a flat character that served no purpose.

Glen Powell was probably one of the best parts of 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. Sure, the story and the action sequences were pretty damn good too but Hangman was certainly a treat to the eyes. However, Glen Powell was not always this ripped, obviously. It took a lot of perseverance and “Endurance” to get where he is today, quite literally.

Cinematic powerhouse actor Robert De Niro has given us some truly memorable performances for the ages, going all the way back to the 70s starting with Martin Scorsese’s’ Mean Streets. And let’s be honest, the guy clearly understands bat-shit crazy. Mr. DeNiro has some insane range, especially in the nutjob department. We’re talking great films such as Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, The Untouchables, Mean Streets, and This Boy’s Life. But there is one film particularly overlooked in his filmography. A film that creeps along the uncharted path of unseen territory to most. This is 1996’s The Fan (a Best Movie You Never Saw fave of ours here), directed by the late Tony Scott and stars not just De Niro, but Wesley Snipes, Benicio Del Toro, Ellen Barkin, and John Leguizamo. The Fan centers around one man’s downfall and downward spiral into psychotic obsession toward...

Young Woman and the Sea allowed Norwegian director Joachim Rønning to return to his roots in more ways than one.
As he was helming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) for Disney, Rønning was in development on a biopic about Olympic swimmer Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, who became the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926. What would normally seem like a big left turn for a filmmaker who’d been steeped in fantasy worlds was actually a return to the genre of historical drama that first launched his Hollywood career.

Hollywood actors often have their careers reduced to one major role. Having said that, isn’t it compelling how an iconic character like Batman can bring an actor everlasting fame, but also conceal the breadth of their versatility? Val Kilmer, known widely for donning the dark mask of the Caped Crusader, embodies this paradox with remarkable grace.
Prior to making his breakthrough in the 1980s with roles in comedies such as Real Genius and Top Secret, Val Kilmer began his acting career on stage. The acclaimed sequel to Top Gun, in which he reprised the role of Iceman, has brought him back into the spotlight.

Despite his early breakthrough, Kilmer charted a different course, circling the universe of TV—save for a voice role as Kitt in the Knight Rider reboot and brief stints on shows like Ghost Girls and The Spoils of Babylon.
