- Jesus: You have heard it said you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. For if you love only those who love you, what reward is there in that?
- [first title card]
- Title card: He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53; 700 B.C.
- Satan: Do you really believe that one man can bear the full burden of sin?
- Jesus: Shelter Me, O, Lord. I trust in you. In you I take refuge.
- Satan: No one man can carry this burden, I tell you. It is far too heavy. Saving their souls is too costly. No-one. Ever. No. Never.
- Jesus: Father, Y-you can do all things. If it is possible, let this chalice pass from me... But let your will be done, not mine.
- Satan: Who is your father? Who are you?
- Jesus: I am the good shepherd. I lay down my life for My sheep. No-one takes my life from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down and the power to take it up again. This command is from my Father.
- Jesus: Take this and drink. This is my blood, spilled for you and for many. Do this in memory of me.
- Jesus: You are my friends. And there is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends.
- [to the guards beating Jesus on his way to Golgotha]
- Simon: Stop! Stop! Leave him alone! If you don't stop, I won't carry that cross one more step. I don't care what you do to me!
- Caiphas: They say you're a king. Where is this kingdom of yours? What line of kings do you descend from? Speak up! You're just the son of some obscure carpenter, no? Some say you're Elijah, but he was carried off to Heaven in a chariot! Why don't you say something? You've been brought here as a blasphemer! What do you say to that? Defend yourself.
- Jesus: I have spoken openly to everyone. I've taught in the Temple where we all gathered. Ask those who have heard what I have to say.
- Temple Guard: Is that how you address the High Priest? With arrogance?
- [the Temple guard strikes Jesus with authority]
- Jesus: If I have spoken evil, tell me what evil I have said. But if not, why do you hit me?
- Jesus: You are My friends. There is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends. I cannot be with you much longer, My friends. You cannot go where I am going. My commandment to you after I am gone is this: Love one another. As I have loved you, so love one another.
- Pontius Pilate: What is truth, Claudia? Do you hear it, recognize it when it is spoken?
- Claudia Procles: Yes, I do. Don't you?
- Pontius Pilate: How? Can you tell me?
- Claudia Procles: If you will not hear the truth, no one can tell you.
- Pontius Pilate: Truth... do you want to know what my truth is, Claudia? I've been putting down rebellions in this rotten outpost for eleven years. If I don't condemn this man I know Caiphas will start a rebellion. If I do condemn him, then his followers may. Either way, there will be bloodshed. Caeser has warned me, Claudia. Warned me twice. He swore that the next time the blood would be mine. That is my truth!
- [on the road to Golgotha, Jesus falls]
- Simon: [picking Jesus up] We're almost there! It's almost over!
- [last lines]
- Abenader: [Cassius is about to break Jesus's legs, but the ground shakes violently and he is thrown back] Cassius! Hurry!
- Cassius: [turns to face Abenader] He's dead!
- Abenader: [throws a spear to Cassius] Make sure!
- [Cassius pierces Jesus' side, blood flows out and Cassius gets some of it in his eye. He then recognises Jesus as God's son and falls down at the foot of the cross as the temple is split in two, the veil is torn and Abenader, also recognising Jesus as God's Son, respectfully removes his helmet]
- [upon being ordered to bear the cross of Jesus Christ]
- Simon: Remember that I am an innocent man, forced to carry the cross of a condemned man!
- Annas: Yes, we'll listen to those that have heard your blashpemies. Good! Let's hear them!
- Accuser: He cures the sick by magic! With the help of devils! I've seen it. He casts out devils, with the help of devils.
- Accuser: He calls himself the King of the Jews!
- Accuser: No, he calls himself the Son of God! He said he would destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days!
- Accuser: Worse! He claims he's the Bread of Life! And if we don't eat his flesh or drink his blood we won't inherit eternal life.
- Caiphas: Silence! You're all under this man's spell. Either offer proof of his wrongdoing or be quiet!
- Nicodemus: This entire proceeding is an outrage. All I've heard from these "witnesses" is mindless contradiction!
- [being questioned by King Herod]
- King Herod: Are you the one whose birth was foretold?
- [Jesus is silent]
- King Herod: Answer me! Are you a king? How about me? Will you work a little magic for me? He's not guilty of a crime, he's just crazy.
