Chris Pratt’s work in Parks and Recreation or Parks and Rec made him land major franchises like the MCU and Jurassic World. To make it funnier, the Marvel actor improvised his scenes throughout the show. Pratt’s improvisation also led him to deliver the best joke in the show in its third season.
The co-creator of the show, Michael Scur, described that as a writer, he was extremely angry to see the Marvel actor going off-script to present the memorable scene from the show.
Chris Pratt in Parks and Recreation | NBC
Michael Schur is a renowned comedy show creator with experience in some critically acclaimed comedies like The Office (USA), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Good Place. His association with Parks and Rec guaranteed that the show would be a success, but Chris Pratt also came out as a surprise package and made a lasting impact.

While viewers curse streaming platforms for canceling shows too early and not giving them another chance, they are just as quick to drop the entire series based on the impressions of the pilot episode. Although understandable, sometimes this logic deprives people of watching some of the best shows.
Here are 8 TV shows that redditors of the r/television subreddit dropped after watching only the pilot, but then picked up and grew to love.
Schitt's Creek (2015-2020)
Like most sitcoms, the pilot was just the writers testing the waters. It set up a backstory, put the characters in their niches, and was released with the hope that the show would hit the right spots for all genre fans. Fortunately, the brilliant cast and the talent of Dan Levy and his father, Eugene Levy, were enough to get the show off the ground.

Movies and television have often had a push-pull relationship. When brands and intellectual properties became king near the start of the 21st century, TV became the place to go for creatives who wanted to tell bold and original stories to a mainstream audience. In contrast, the social revolutions of the 1960s saw networks burying their heads in the sand, serving up a buffet of conservative-leaning sitcoms where just about everybody was white, straight, and Christian, nobody had sex or cursed, and things like the Civil Rights Movement or the Vietnam War might as well be happening on Neptune. Meanwhile, the pictures swung in the opposite direction; the rise of New Hollywood meant that the escapist studio fare of yore was no longer fashionable.

Summer Game Fest had a ton of excellent reveals, but perhaps one of the most bizarre trailers belonged to Skate, the upcoming Electronic Arts, commonly known as EA, game about, well, skating.
Mostly, EA has changed its Skate-related socials to M-Corp, the company responsible for bringing hope and success to the fictional city of San Vansterdam. The true bizarre nature of the trailer is evident as soon as its documentary-style preview, similar to that of The Office, starts.
EA Gives an Update on Skate in the Most Unconventional Way Imaginable
The video starts in an office space, documenting the state of the workplace and how it promises to bring success to the city of San Vansterdam. The humorous trailer is filled to the brim with well-timed sarcasm, particularly about the office’s workplace.

Tom Bower, the veteran character actor best known for prominent turns on The Waltons and in Die Hard 2, has died. A family member confirmed the news to Deadline’s sister publication The Hollywood Reporter. He was 86.
Bower never had what one might call a “breakout” part, but he was an actor one recognized from, well, everywhere. His more than 180 screen credits include appearances on The Rockford Files, Lou Grant, Quincy M.E., Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, The X-Files, Law & Order and many other TV staples of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s.
And he kept on working. In the past 15 years, Bower was on Ray Donovan, Bosch, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, The Office and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He also played the father of Bob Odenkirk’s character on Lucky Hank and had a part in Vince Gilligan’s El Camino, A Breaking Bad Movie.

There are multiple offers on the table for Paramount, but the company’s three-headed ‘Office of the CEO’ has a plan if all the deals fall through.
Paramount Global is entering its seventh month of merger and acquisition discussions, and whether or not there is an end in sight remains a bit cloudy. In December, news first broke that the company had begun initial discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery about a potential combination of the two media conglomerates. Those talks came to naught, but more seriously interested parties have emerged to evaluate Paramount’s assets in the meantime. Earlier this week, the special committee established by Paramount to evaluate M&a opportunities approved a bid by Skydance Media and its owner David Ellison, but one of the company’s major shareholder has publicly expressed its disapproval of the deal. With all of the confusion over the company’s future, Paramount executives...

One of the most popular genres to ever exist, sitcoms have long ushered as the cherished favorites for many to wind down and let themselves loose in the content. Steve Carell’s The Office made generations of fans laugh with their simplistic but funniest portrayal of a paper company in Scranton. Neither Michael Scott nor his staff were the normal kind of office people, but the series tried to maintain the authenticity of the setting.
The Office creators resorted to one simple way to ensure this during the first few seasons. They didn’t allow any of the hair and makeup artists on the set as they wanted the actors to be in their authentic office worker roles.

There’s nothing more entertaining in the world of TV than a sitcom. You can just turn on a funny ensemble cast show and just chill for several hours while the characters go on with their bizarre storylines that will definitely make you laugh.
For many of us one of the most rewatchable sitcoms has been The Big Bang Theory, but redditors suggest you pay enough attention to these 5 shows instead.
1. New Girl (2011-2018)
For fans of quirky characters, this sitcom is a perfect choice. When a young girl named Jess finds out that her boyfriend is a cheater, she has to move out and start a new life on her own. But instead – she ends up in a loft with three single guys.
Needless to say, they all have their cringeworthy traits, and together they form the most dysfunctional group you can imagine. Anyway, somehow they make it work.

Whether it’s How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, or Gilmore Girls, everyone seems to have a comfort show. Like that one snack that always sounds good, it’s a show you know you can count on time and time again. You never really get tired of watching it, and you just feel better after indulging in an episode. But what exactly defines a comfort watch? What does a comfort show even look like in today’s streaming-dominant world?
I can understand why many people immediately associate “comfort watch” exclusively with the likes of Friends and The Office. Sitcoms like this not only provide familiarity, but also simplicity. It’s nice to imagine a world where conflicts miraculously get resolved in 30 minutes or less, there’s hardly any real, lasting consequences, and everyone sits down for a nice dinner together at the end.

The original series, though a massive hit, notably stumbled after Season 7 following the departure of Steve Carell. Carell’s farewell episode, Goodbye, Michael, aired in Season 7, Episode 22, and showcased an emotional sendoff for Michael Scott that deeply affected fans. John Krasinski recalls that he ‘cried so hard’ filming his goodbye scene with Steve Carell, underlining the show’s commitment to powerful storytelling. The Need for Sensible...

The recent announcement of a spinoff for The Office has sparked a lot of discussion among longtime fans. While the original show had its rise and fall, there are several storylines that could imbue the new series with fresh energy. Here are five ideas we think would bring life to The Office once again. Michael Scott’s New Adventures When Steve Carell’s Michael Scott left the show, it was a significant moment for fans and cast alike. His departure marked the end of an era, and an exploration of Michael’s life beyond Dunder Mifflin would be both humorous and heartfelt. Viewers...

Does the world seem like it's more complicated and confusing than it used to be?
When you look at the way people lived in previous generations, are you struck by a vague sense that you missed out on something?
Do you sometimes feel as though it just hasn't been your day, your week, your month -- or even your year?
If so, you're not alone.
This might sound like the voice-over that plays over a beach volleyball scene in a commercial for the latest magic-bullet anti-depressant, but it's actually the beginning of an attempt to understand the viewing habits of tens of millions of Netflix customers.
A Surprising Trend
You see, in most previous decades, one of the defining traits of young people was a rabid interest in all things new and innovative, often to the exclusion of anything deemed "old."
That's still the case for members of Generation Z in most areas.

“I had literally been thinking to myself, Rainn, you need to get off your ass and do something about climate change. If this is really important to you, you need to do more than send out an occasional angry tweet, because, let’s face it, that’s what most people in Hollywood do.”
And so began Rainn Wilson’s foray into environmental activism six years ago, when he met and teamed with professor Gail Whiteman for their Climate Basecamp initiative, which combines science and culture — approaching climate change via the lenses of food, entertainment, sports, fashion and music.
Wilson and Whiteman will take part in a panel discussing Climate Basecamp at the Environmental Media Association Impact Summit, taking place on June 4 and 5 in Los Angeles, alongside fellow speakers including Hillary Clinton, Phil Rosenthal, Ted Danson, Eli Roth, Issa López, Lance Bass and Ed Begley Jr. The annual event unites Hollywood...

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete on the dance floor. Three of my past suggestions did ultimately become “DWTS” contestants: Frankie Muniz (who came in third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who came in second in season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of female celebs I think the show should consider inviting to the ballroom to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

Major Spoilers for Suits
By now everybody knows about the USA Network’s relatively hit series at its time of release which became one of the biggest series ever after it came out on Netflix in June 2023. Yes, we are talking about Aaron Korsh‘s legal drama series Suits. Which got over 3.14 billion minutes of watch time surpassing the fantasy drama Manifest. This led to NBC greenlighting a pilot for an L.A.-based spin-off series titled Suits: L.A. with which they are hoping to capture the original series’ audience. But in this article, I am trying to figure out if a spin-off of Suits will even work because one has already failed.
A few months before the final episode of Suits aired we got a brand new spin-off starring Gina Torres. She played the role of Jessica Pearson in the original series from the beginning and she was a...

Our TV choices say a lot about our personalities. If we only watch analytical docudramas or super historically accurate shows, it probably means that we use these series to learn about something and try not to waste our time on meaningless stuff. But is it really bad to binge bizarre shows?
Of course, documentaries can be riveting, but sometimes you just need something to turn your brain off and help you relax. We think the best shows to give you that feeling are the weird comedies (sometimes with a little pinch of supernatural thrown in).
Resident Alien is the perfect example of a show that is both lighthearted and easy to watch, but also extremely interesting in its storytelling and with complex characters worth following.
So if you liked that show, these 5 will be to your taste as well.

"I will not waste chalk." This is the first phrase eternal troublemaker Bart Simpson wrote on an animated blackboard in the opening credits of the second-ever episode of "The Simpsons." That was in January 1990, and though the seminal cartoon sitcom's "chalkboard gags" (as they'd soon be known) have ebbed and flowed in frequency over the years, it's safe to say that Bart has, by now, written thousands of words on that same old dusty board.
The typical, classic "Simpsons" chalkboard gag is written in Bart's voice –- unapologetic and ornery, as if he's blowing a giant raspberry in the face of authority. In the decades since the visual joke caught on, though, the chalkboard gags have become more meta and at times offered knowing winks at the state of the world that clearly come directly from the show's writers' room. In "The Simpsons Movie," for example, Bart writes "I will not illegally download this movie.

Hollywood actors often have their careers reduced to one major role. Having said that, isn’t it compelling how an iconic character like Batman can bring an actor everlasting fame, but also conceal the breadth of their versatility? Val Kilmer, known widely for donning the dark mask of the Caped Crusader, embodies this paradox with remarkable grace.
Prior to making his breakthrough in the 1980s with roles in comedies such as Real Genius and Top Secret, Val Kilmer began his acting career on stage. The acclaimed sequel to Top Gun, in which he reprised the role of Iceman, has brought him back into the spotlight.
Val Kilmer as Batman in Batman Forever | Warner Bros Pictures
Despite his early breakthrough, Kilmer charted a different course, circling the universe of TV—save for a voice role as Kitt in the Knight Rider reboot and brief stints on shows like Ghost Girls and The Spoils of Babylon.

This Fall, Academy Award winning superstars George Clooney (Ocean's Eleven; Up in the Air; Gravity) and Brad Pitt (Fight Club; Bullet Train; Babylon) reunite for the first time in sixteen years for director Jon Watts' next film, the action-comedy Wolfs.
Sony Pictures Releasing and Apple Studios have launched the film's official trailer, which previews one of this fall's most exciting releases as the actors play a pair of fixers who find themselves partnered up on a job that gets wilder and wilder by the minute.
In the film, "Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two “lone wolves” are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected."

This year NCIS gave its fans the best gift ever by bringing back Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David and giving them their own spinoff. While fans may be disappointed to learn that the spinoff has found its home outside of cable, on a streaming platform called Paramount Plus, and that means shorter seasons for more money, it's still an exciting prospect.
After so many years in the dark about the relationship between two iconic NCIS characters, and then a solid conclusion in season 17, no one believed that Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly would grace our screens again as the show's most dynamic duo. Even better, you don't have to wait until the show premieres to join the reunion.
NCIS Rewatch Podcast Premiere
In the style of The Office and Glee, NCIS has created an official podcast to promote the upcoming spinoff and give fans a little behind the scenes look.

Thriller might just be our favorite genre for one simple reason: almost any concept becomes that much better and more interesting once you throw in some underlying tension. It’s not easy to pull off, but nothing stimulates a talented person as much as major obstacles… Which is likely the reason why this sensational crime thriller was made by a man primarily known for his work in comedy, of all things.
A Simple Favor Is All You Need to Do
Paul Feig is famous for his work on comedy movies and TV shows, including creating Freaks and Geeks and several episodes of The Office. Not the type of person you’d expect to tap into thrillers successfully, right? Wrong: his amazing 2018’s film A Simple Favor proves it to all naysayers. If there are any. Are there?

Despite being a professional writer for almost 19 years now, Lee Eisenberg had never written a solo script before “Lessons in Chemistry.” Having gotten his big start on the hit mockumentary sitcom “The Office” — for which he earned four of his seven total Emmy nominations to date, including one for Best Comedy Writing alongside his frequent collaborator Gene Stupnitsky in 2008 — he had spent most of his writing career co-writing episodes of TV. But on “Lessons in Chemistry,” which is based on Bonnie Garmus‘ 2022 bestseller of the same name, he penned two episodes by himself, the opener and closer, in addition to co-writing two, both with his wife, Emily Jane Fox.
“I read Bonnie Garmus’ book, I think, over the course of a weekend. I just absolutely devoured it. I thought it was so beautiful. The story turns were surprising; I found myself crying, I was laughing. My wife and I were...
