Actors Eric Bana and Deborra-Lee Furness spoke about their experience in Australia while they filmed Force Of Nature: The Dry 2 in their new uInterview.
Force Of Nature: The Dry 2 is an Australian thriller, a sequel to the 2020 film The Dry, and based on Jane Harper’s 2017 novel Force of Nature. The movie follows five women who go on a hiking retreat where one disappears. A federal agent (Bana) arrives at the scene to help with the search leading to some explosive events.
Bana jumped in with his thoughts on what drew him to the story: “We loved the book’s premise. We thought it was a really exciting project. We have always loved the idea of these five women, so brilliantly written by Jane Harper, going on a corporate trip and getting lost. We just felt we hadn’t seen that before. We were really excited about that opportunity.

Eric Bana has been a mainstay on the big screen for decades. The Australian comedian turned dramatic actor has been in everything from Ang Lee’s Hulk to Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek, and Judd Apatow’s Funny People. Getting his big break on the Australian shows Full Frontal and the eponymous The Eric Bana Show Live, the actor hit Hollywood’s radar with his role in Chopper as the infamous criminal Mark Chopper Read. After over twenty years in the industry, Bana returned to Australia for the 2021 mystery The Dry and has now reprised the role of Aaron Falk for the sequel, Force of Nature.
Based on the novel by Jane Harper, Force of Nature picks up a year after The Dry as Aaron Falk and his partner investigate a money laundering scheme with the aid of insider Alice Russell (Anna Torv). When...

Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to Sylvester Stallone (“Tulsa King”) action thriller “Alarum” from Highland Film Group.
The feature is produced and financed by Convergence Entertainment Group (“Cash Out”) and is directed by Michael Polish (“Force of Nature”) from a script written by Alexander Vesha (“Deadly Impact”). The film stars Scott Eastwood (“Fast X”) and Stallone.
“Alarum” follows retired assassin couple Joe and Lara Travers, who are in hiding at a holiday resort in Belize when a plane crashes nearby. After retrieving a top-secret flash drive from the crash, the couple are pulled back into their shadowy past, fending off government operatives determined to retrieve the drive.
The deal was negotiated between Signature’s chief commercial officer Elizabeth Williams and Highland Film Group’s president of international sales Todd Olsson. Highland Film Group is handling international rights to the actioner.

The arid landscape of the fictional Australian town Kiewarra lends the 2020 mystery thriller “The Dry” its name and identity. It’s the type of place filled with interpersonal tension, which frequently reflects onto a barren, sun-scorched environment itching to go up in flames.
When federal agent Aaron Falk (Eric Bana) returns to his hometown to look into the double murder-suicide supposedly perpetrated by his childhood best friend, he’s thrust back into the town’s powder-keg energy. Everyone looks at him with suspicion because they suspect he was responsible for the drowning of his high school girlfriend twenty years prior, with their resentment exacerbated by his off-the-books investigation. Adapted from Jane Harper’s procedural mystery novel by the same name, “The Dry” marinates in buried backcountry secrets and childhood trauma, both of which unfortunately never transcend their generic function or presentation on screen.

If there is any justice in this world, we’ll get an Aaron Falk mystery every few years in perpetuity. Force of Nature: The Dry 2, written and directed by Robert Connolly and based on the novel by Jane Harper, offers up a brand-new case for viewers and does not require that you’ve seen its engaging predecessor (The Dry). This time the setting is the Giralang Ranges, a fictional rainforest of labyrinthine density. Along with the drastic change in scenery from the first outing (which hewed closer to an outback aesthetic tourists would expect), there’s been an expansion of production value. As Falk closes in on the identity of the killer, a violent storm closes in. This time there are more characters, more plot, and more conflicting motivations.
The plot revolves around a corporate retreat gone bad. Five women went out on a team-building hiking-camping trip. Only four came back.

After getting through the reopened old wounds and fresh corpses of “The Dry” in his dusty outback hometown, Eric Bana’s Federal Agent Aaron Falk certainly deserved a change of scenery. He gets one in woodsy “Force of Nature: The Dry 2,” though naturally the second feature adapted by director Robert Connolly from Jane Harper’s print mystery series soon finds him equally knee-deep in troublesome sleuthing. This sequel to one of Australia’s biggest homegrown hits reprises much of its page-turning plottiness — as well as a straining for emotional depth that proves elusive. IFC is releasing to U.S. theaters and home formats on May 10.
Once again, and perhaps a little too neatly, a case forces Falk to revisit the tragedies of his own past. In the prior film, a childhood friend’s funeral set him to investigating its cause, an effort which soon exposed disturbing links to his...

Plot: Five women participate in a hiking retreat but only four come out the other side. Federal agents Aaron Falk and Carmen Cooper head into the mountains hoping to find their informant still alive.
Review: We reviewed the Australian mystery drama The Dry a couple of years ago. We enjoyed Eric Bana’s first Australian film after moving to Hollywood and found director Robert Connolly’s adaptation of Jane Harper’s novel to be refreshing. That film told the story of a federal investigator who returns home to investigate the murder of a childhood friend, which bears a distinct connection to a crime he himself was accused of decades prior. Bana and Connolly have reunited for the second novel in the Aaron Falk trilogy, Force of Nature. Carrying the subtitle that indicates it as a sequel to The Dry, Force of Nature is a substantially different story. Shifting from a...

Here we go again. In recent years, Mel Gibson’s found himself stuck in a never-ending series of Dtv-style action thrillers, similar to the kind of fare Bruce Willis churned out before his retirement. Along with his contemporaries like John Travolta, John Cusack and many others, Gibson seems totally stuck in a rut, with virtually all of these films (most of which he only has minor roles in) going totally unnoticed. Has anyone seen Panama, Agent Game, On the Line, Confidential Informant, Desperation Road, Dangerous or Force of Nature? There have been some bright spots, such as the solid Bandit (a movie he was proud of when I interviewed him) or Fatman, but for the most part, Gibson’s career as an actor in mainstream movies seems limited to this kind of fare, which is a shame.
Nevertheless, he’s still out there cranking out VOD movies, with Boneyard being the latest.

After 'The Dry' made more than $20 million in 2021, it was perhaps inevitable the creative team would look to adapt the next book in Jane Harper’s Aaron Falk series, 'Force of Nature', for the big screen. Writer, director and producer Robert Connolly talks to If about the follow up – and hints there may be a third film yet.

“Barbie” (Warner Bros.), the year’s biggest hit, had some competition its third week out on PVOD (for rent at $24.99), and it’s coming from within its own house.
“Blue Beetle,” from Warners’ DC Comics division, actually took #1 at Vudu — even more impressive since it ranks by revenue, putting the $19.99 “Beetle” at a disadvantage. It placed #3 at Google Play, which often is slower to note new releases. “Barbie” remains #1 at iTunes and Google Play.
Three other new titles debuted this week, led by “Gran Turismo” (Sony), as high as #2 at Vudu. Also at $19.99, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” (Focus) also placed on two charts. It’s #4 at Vudu after its third weekend in theaters.
“Muzzle” (Rlj), a direct-to-home release landed at #6 at iTunes at a $6.99 rental. Taking the “John Wick” plot about a man seeking revenge after his dog is killed, this stars Stephen Lang and Aaron Eckhardt.

Some action movies feel rather generic with a few items and elements tossed in to make them feel a little more real and a little more popular among movie fans. Force of Nature certainly tries to add these elements since it employs actors such as Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth, Emile Hirsch, and a few others. It also includes an incoming hurricane, which is enough to get the attention of many people who love a great disaster movie. But beyond that, it becomes little more than a heist movie that happens to take place during a hurricane and involves a few

“Eric Bana brought the character of Aaron Falk to life last year, intriguing audiences across the globe. Returning to this beautifully written true-crime universe with Eric, Robert, and the amazing team at Made Up Stories ensures all the ingredients that made The Dry a...

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 3
The alliteratively titled “Mining the Mind’s Mines” taps into the “lone space outpost on a forgotten planet” as one of the influences directing this week’s episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks. It also recalls the helpless and mind-numbingly boring outpost scientists that the Enterprise and other vessels throughout Star Trek lore have had to either rescue, protect, or otherwise frustratingly work with to accomplish a mutual goal.
In this episode, we see characters like the Scrubble – an alien race native to the planet of Jengus IV who are turning Federation scientists into stone. We learn that the USS Hood arrived on scene to manage a peace between the Scrubble and the scientists. After they leave, the crews of the USS Cerritos and the USS Carlsbad are tasked with doing the clean-up and arranging to...

The Immaculate Room, a new psychological thriller, follows a couple who are given the chance to stay in an empty white room for 50 days on a game show. If they make it, they earn an easy 5 million. But, there’s the catch and what secrets could possibly come out as they take on the challenge?
Emile Hirsch, who plays Mike, recently sat for a conversation with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss how he approached the film and reuniting with co-star Kate Bosworth.
“Kate and I had worked together on this film called Force of Nature that we shot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a year or two before and we got along fantastic. We always had a great rapport and really liked each other,” he said. “When Nick came around, we really responded to the idea of doing another film together. Quiver Distribution is premiering a new trailer aimed squarely at action fans this Monday. The Bandit trailer presents a film about seemingly ordinary men up to no good. Based on the remarkable true story of the Flying Bandit, the film stars Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, and Mel Gibson. Allan Ungar directs from a script written by Kraig Wenman.
The Bandit trailer teases the story of Gilbert Galvan Jr. (Josh Duhamel), a charismatic career criminal who uses more disguises than Hitman’s Agent 47 to rob banks in broad daylight. As Gilbert tumbles deeper down a robbery-driven rabbit hole, he discovers that his obsession will lead to his life falling into chaos if he doesn’t walk away while the getting is good.
Here’s the official logline for Bandit:
In 1985, Gilbert Galvan Jr (Josh Duhamel), a charming career criminal, escapes from a US prison in Michigan and crosses the border into Canada,...

Eric Bana and Robert Connolly Reunite for ‘Force of Nature,’ Following Australian Hit Film ‘The Dry’
Director Robert Connolly and star Eric Bana are reuniting for a detective film based on the novel “Force of Nature,” set in the Australian wilderness.
Connolly and Bana were previously teamed on Australian smash hit movie “The Dry,” which like “Force of Nature” was adapted from a novel by Jane Harper. They also worked together on “Blueback,” a family-friendly, ecologically activist celebration of the natural world, adapted from a Tim Winton novella.
“Force of Nature” sees five women take part in a corporate hiking retreat, with only four coming out on the other side. Federal agents Aaron Falk (Jeremy Lindsay-Taylor) and Carmen Cooper (Jacqueline McKenzie) head deep into the Victorian mountain ranges to investigate, in hopes of finding their whistle-blowing informant still alive.
Production is now underway and will take place entirely within Victoria state, primarily in the Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley and the Otways.

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for Season 4, Episode 6.
With “Stormy Weather,” Star Trek: Discovery celebrates the Trek tradition of getting some excellent musical standards into the bold voyages in the final frontier. With Picard, it was a call back to “Blue Skies,” but now, we’ve got a new version of the song made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, “Stormy Weather.” This version is sung by actress Annabelle Wallis, who has voiced “Zora” the intelligent Disco computer since 2018’s Short Treks episode, “Calypso.” The newest Discovery episode obviously references that story a lot but what else? From galactic barriers to an old Scotty trick with the transporter, here’s every Easter egg and shout-out we spotted in Discovery Season 4, Episode 6, “Stormy Weather.”

"I did what I could to survive..." Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for a legal drama called American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally, the latest from director Michael Polish. An American woman named Mildred Gillars, played in this by Meadow Williams, broadcast Nazi propaganda during World War II. She was dubbed "Axis Sally" by the American GIs who simultaneously loved and hated her because of her voice. The story plunges viewers into the very dark underbelly of the Third Reich's hate-filled propaganda machine, Sally's eventual capture, and the subsequent trial for treason in Washington D.C. after the war. The main cast also includes Al Pacino as lawyer James Laughlin, Thomas Kretschmann, Mitch Pileggi, Lala Kent, and Carsten Norgaard. This seems like a fascinating story to tell, but doesn't look like a very interesting film. Official trailer for Michael Polish's American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally,...

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains major spoilers for the Season 3 premiere.
When Burnham runs into Book’s ship in the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 — “That Hope Is You, Part 1” — she’s set-up to spend the rest of the first episode asking a lot of questions. This is science fiction worldbuilding 101: Make your protagonist a fish-out-of-water, that way, the audience can learn about the kooky rules of this new sci-fi world right alongside your hero. In Seasons 1 and 2 of Discovery, Burnham quoted from one of Spock’s favorite books, Alice In Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. But, in Season 3, Burnham doesn’t bother quoting these books. Basically, from a narrative point-of-view, she is Alice, and the man known as Book is her Cheshire Cat. Well. “Mulan” (Disney) likely had the greatest revenues of any feature films available in homes this weekend. At $29.99, five times or more costly than alternatives and only in its second week of availability, the big-budget remake more than ever needs PVOD to bolster its chances to recoup its cost. With disappointing initial theatrical results in China ($23 million for its initial weekend), one of the countries where it is not streaming, Disney+ interest becomes even more important.
Perhaps the Chinese fiasco could lead to Disney replicating what Universal did with “Trolls World Tour” after its second weekend of home sales. It was an earnings call (not due for several weeks now though), but that is the one time the studio has released specific numbers on one of its releases ($95 million to that point).

We’re still a couple of weeks out from The Boys returning with its second season, but based on the footage we’ve seen so far, it certainly looks as if we’re in for another wild ride. One that may even top the first run of the show, which was one of the best things that we’d seen on television in a long time.
Of course, trying to predict how something as crazy as The Boys is going to end up is a fool’s errand, but let’s not forget that it won’t be the only new thing arriving on Amazon Prime in September. Far from it, in fact.
Earlier today, the streaming service announced their entire line-up of new titles for next month and it’s a meaty list, comprising both films and television shows. And though The Boys may be the highlight for many...

An election season is fast-approaching in the U.S. So for its new releases in September 2020, Amazon Prime is bringing back one of its most political shows.
The Boys season 2 premieres its first three episodes on September 4. Though the show on its face is a superhero story, viewers of season 1 will know it’s really about America’s troubling embrace of entertainment with fascism. Sounds fun and not at all terrifying right before a presidential election!
That’s not the only bleak Amazon original on the schedule for September. British TV adaptation Utopia arrives on September 25. This Gillian Flynn-produced series follows fans of a comic book who believe it predicts…world-ending pandemics. Darn it. Amazon’s only original film this month is a…documentary about voter suppression from Liz Garbus called All In: The Fight for Democracy. Yikes.

‘Made in Italy.’
Madman Entertainment’s father-and-son comedy Made in Italy and Icon’s Mel Gibson starrer Force of Nature launched reasonably well last weekend but neither could match the market leader, Studiocanal’s Unhinged in its third frame.
Nonetheless exhibitors were encouraged by the uptick in ticket sales as proof that people are returning to cinemas in the lead-up to Warner Bros’ Tenet, which will have paid previews next weekend before the August 27 debut.
The re-issue of Disney’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope also juiced takings, as Numero reported the top 20 titles collared $2.3 million, up 10 per cent on the prior frame.
Magnum Films’ South Korean action horror film Peninsula and Rialto’s French import La Belle Époque had respectable debuts.
Director Derrick Borte’s road rage thriller Unhinged, which stars Russell Crowe and Caren Pistorius, rang up $452,000 on 198 screens, hoisting the total to $2.3 million.

Shia Labeouf may have gotten famous as a Disney Channel child star before featuring in a number of box office hits that quickly turned him into one of the fastest-rising young talents in the business, but after swearing off big budget projects, the 34 year-old has spent the last little while reinventing himself as one of the most versatile and dedicated performers around.
He may still find himself in the headlines due to eccentric behavior, but he’s recently delivered a string of acclaimed performances in films like Borg vs. McEnroe, the semi-autobiographical Honey Boy and The Peanut Butter Falcon, the latter of which led to co-star Dakota Johnson claiming that he may even be the greatest actor of his generation.
Labeouf’s latest effort sees him working again with Fury director David Ayer, with The Tax Collector marking a return for the filmmaker to his roots with a gritty street-level crime drama.

With Warner Bros. vacating its August 12 worldwide release date for “Tenet,” we’re still many weeks away from any approximation of normal business. Meanwhile, the VOD world continues apace with Rod Lurie’s Afghanistan war-set “The Outpost” leading the way. Now in its third week, the Screen Media title remains at #1 at Apple and Spectrum.
Perhaps even more impressive: “Outpost” is #2 at FandangoNow, which ranks by revenue — and Lurie’s film has a non-premium price of $6.99. Even outside a theater, some of its truisms remain — never underestimate the appeal of a military-themed film. In first place at FandangoNow was “Trolls World Tour,” which recently reduced its price from $19.99 to $5.99.
Among other recent premium VOD titles, the best showing this week is “The King of Staten Island” at #2 at Amazon Prime. However, there’s a growing trend for some more specialized titles to pop up. “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” the acclaimed documentary about the late Rep.
