As many of our favorite television shows are receiving cancelation orders, from Station 19 to Blue Bloods to series that barely make it out of the gate, like Still Star-Crossed or Prodigal Son, it's refreshing to find shows with renewal orders.
It's rare to see new shows that offer something different when it seems like everything has been done, especially among all the remakes and reboots.

However, The Irrational managed to corner a vacant market we didn't even know existed.
Sure, it's a police procedural show.
But it also works in our love of pop psychology with a bit of personal drama to spice things up.

For Helldivers 2 fans and staff, the past few days have been an insane journey. But with official confirmation that the war is finally over, fans have gone back to their usual jovial selves.
Apparently, that includes making mock-up in-game cosmetics to commemorate what has been an intense, exhausting war against Sony for its recent decision to force a Psn link on Steam players to access their Helldivers 2 accounts. And one amusing community design has fans demanding that it be added to the game.

Showrunners are the creative visionaries of a series.
They might not be the original creators, but they cover all aspects of the creative elements, evolve the show's vision, and decide where the story and character arcs will go.
They run the writing rooms, head the development, hire writers, and ensure actors are kept happy and that the budget is not exceeded.
Series are usually a collective effort, with writers giving their thoughts, but showrunners have the final say and are essential.
Where would the industry be without people like Shonda Rhimes, Matt and Ross Duffer (Stranger Things), and Ryan Murphy?
It would be mundane and repetitive.
Intelligent and prolific showrunners are the difference between a hit and a flop.
They set an unwavering tone for their ideas, and consistency is vital.
If the reason you fell in love with a series is altered or gone one day, then the connection created is absent,...

A scene from the German TV series “Professor T.” Courtesy of MHz Choice
Fans of European mystery series may find the “Professor T” title familiar. That could be because the Belgian original which began in 2015, has spawned French, Czech, British and German versions. This review covers the third season of the last of those listed.
It seems as if ever since the huge success of Tony Shalhoub’s “Monk,” the idea of crime-solving cops or consultants with major psychological issues has blossomed globally. He wasn’t the first damaged-goods sleuth but probably the most popular, here and abroad. Professor T (Matthias Matschke) teaches criminology and regularly assists Cologne’s homicide unit despite massive emotional problems and a painful history that gradually unfolds during the series. He’s brilliant but somewhere on the Autism Spectrum. That, plus severe Ocd and recurring flashbacks and/or psychotic hallucinations, makes our Adrian Monk and...

“The Walking Dead” actor Tom Payne and Broadway veteran Betty Buckley have joined the cast of Blumhouse’s next movie “Imaginary,” a horror-thriller led by DeWanda Wise.
Taegen Burns (“The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”), Pyper Braun (“Desperation Road”), Matthew Sato (“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”) and Veronica Falcón (“Jungle Cruise”) will round out the cast.
Lionsgate is releasing the film on March 8, 2024. It wrapped production before the writers’ and actors’ strikes — so it will arrive in theaters as planned, unlike several projects that were forced to pause for months on end.
“Imaginary” was directed by Jeff Wadlow from a script he co-wrote with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. The story centers on Jessica (Wise), who moves back into her childhood home with her family. When her stepdaughter Alice (Braun) develops a concerning attachment to the stuffed bear, Chauncey, she finds in the basement, Jessica becomes concerned with the young girl’s behavior.

It has been exactly four years since Prodigal Son premiered on Fox.
This bold concept emerged from a sea of reality television series, reboots, and revivals, carving its own unique place in the television landscape.

The funny thing about "Subspace Rhapsody," the musical episode of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," is that it's still ... well, it's still a "Star Trek" episode. Yes, everyone is bursting into song and dancing through the corridors of the starship Enterprise, but it's because the crew accidentally triggers a subspace anomaly that causes a dimensional rift with unexpected consequences. In this case, it causes everyone to express themselves through song. Whoops. And naturally, it's up to Captain Pike and his crew to fix the space problem they caused before it can transform their entire universe.

On the heels of a breakthrough role in Netflix and A24’s “Beef,” actor Young Mazino has signed with M88 for representation.
The Korean American actor stars in the dramedy series as Paul Cho, the crypto-investing younger brother of Danny (Steven Yeun), whose road rage incident with a woman named Amy Lau (Ali Wong) marks the show’s central “beef.” With Danny and Amy unable to move past their vitriolic interaction, Paul finds himself increasingly embroiled in their drama to a dangerous end.
Strong reviews for Mazino’s performance amid the buzz for the show — which premiered at SXSW before launching on Netflix last month — have put him in the mix for his first Emmy nomination (in the outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or TV movie category).

NBC has ordered the pilot for Wolf, a one-hour medical drama from writer-producer Michael Grassi, producer-director Lee Toland Krieger and executive producer Greg Berlanti. The project comes from Warner Bros Television, where all three are under overall deals.
This is the project’s third incarnation, after previously receiving a put pilot commitment at Fox in 2019 with Alex Berger to write. Krieger remains with the project from its previous iteration, and he will direct the pilot.
Wolf is inspired by the books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks. A new murder-mystery every episode on a weekly basis? What a concept!
Rian Johnson is currently enjoying an impossibly hot hand, turning everything he touches into gold (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor) between his three-film run that includes "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," 2019's "Knives Out," and the highly-anticipated follow-up "Glass Onion." In all honesty, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that the Daniel Craig-starring Benoit Blanc franchise has singlehandedly invigorated audience interest in murder-mysteries in general. While the rest of the industry is still working on making up for lost time, Johnson continues to spearhead these efforts with yet another story ripped from the classic genre. This time, he's taking his talents from the big screen back to television -- which, lest we forget, is where he found such great success directing two of the most acclaimed episodes of "Breaking Bad."
"Poker Face" was announced to great fanfare,...

Rian Johnson is becoming something of a marvel for streaming TV.
His Knives Out followup Glass Onion had a remarkable start this Christmas, and he's ready to take on mysteries in series form.
Peacock released the Official Trailer for Poker Face, which Rian created, writes, directs, and produces.
Rian and series star, Natasha Lyonne, shared their thoughts in a press release about how the series came to be.
Never let it be said that scintillating conversation over dinner can't amount to something much more.
Their shared love of detective shows and what makes them so infinately relatable -- exploring new worlds, incredible guest stars as killers and victims, and the scrappy protaganist you can't wait to see solve the case -- led to Lyonne's character, Charlie, the driving force behind Poker Face.
Viewers take a cross-country trip with Charlie, who can spot a lie from a mile away.
