The NCIS universe isn’t taking any break after the flagship show’s season 21 came to its end earlier in May as the franchise is set to come back this fall with three installments, two of which are a completely new vision of the famous story.
Aside from a spinoff that will revolve around Anthony Dinozzo and Ziva David’s career paths and relationships after both quit the original series, the franchise is also giving broader horizons to the background story of its biggest figure, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, whose departure from NCIS in season 19 left a lot of questions unanswered.
Though the upcoming show is already heavily criticized by NCIS fans months before its potential release, NCIS: Origins still appears to be a breath of fresh air for the series’ universe, yet with its own risks.

A fun video from the NCIS cast was filmed during a recent event for CBS Studios.
The primary cast members were asked which shows they would like NCIS to crossover with and which characters they’d switch lives with.
While everyone waits for new episodes, videos like this are a good way to pass the time.
The good news is that CBS already ordered NCIS Season 22. So, new episodes are coming.
But the long summer hiatus is only beginning, so it will be months before the new content arrives.
We could also soon learn about new folks joining the cast or how CBS will present the new prequel show this fall.

Over the years, NCIS has thrived not only on the brilliant plots and unexpected twists in its cases, but also on the lovable and intriguing characters that viewers have fallen in love with. While some continue their journey on the main series, others move on to their own spin-offs.
While it's impossible to underestimate the importance of Special Agent Gibbs or Tony and Ziva, there are some characters that don't get nearly enough attention. Jimmy Palmer, the chief medical examiner for the NCIS team, who has been one of the show's most consistent characters, is a perfect example.
Is Jimmy Palmer Still on NCIS?
Jimmy Palmer, portrayed by Brian Dietzen, has been a prominent character on NCIS since the season 1 finale. Though he didn't receive his starring status until the show's 10th season, he has been one of the show's most consistently written characters who continues to delight viewers to this day.

Blue Bloods fans are still heartbroken that CBS has canceled Tom Selleck’s long-running series. However, some recent news could give fans of the family drama and police procedural some hope. Could there possibly be a spinoff?
Donnie Wahlberg on Blue Bloods / YouTube CBS Parent Company Head Hints At Blue Bloods Spinoff
Could there possibly be a spinoff series of everyone’s favorite police drama Blue Bloods? According to a recent report by TV Line, it seems more likely. The television industry publication reported that on Tuesday, Brian Robbins, the Paramount Global co-ceo made a surprising announcement. This was at the annual stockholders meeting.
In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods.
Robbins also added that “CBS hit Fire Country shows huge promise.” For over six months, there has been a rumbling about a spinoff of that series named Sheriff Country, starring Lorena Baccarin.

CBS’ brand new action drama show Tracker was quick to conquer the network viewers’ hearts as the series’ first ever season reached a major milestone, dethroning CBS’ long-running NCIS on the list of the most-watched shows this season.
Having so far left fans with only one season and a major cliffhanger that will find its explanation in the next installment, Tracker surely brought some refreshment to the network’s schedule, and the mid-season plot twist does seem to be something that eventually guaranteed the show’s immense success.
Launched back in February, Tracker followed private investigator Colter Shaw and his cross-country trips during which he helped uncover citizens’ mystery until one of his own hasn’t suddenly come along.
As the first season proceeded to dive deeper into Colter’s personality rather than his work routine that the viewers had already had enough of, the whole storyline got even more...

The end of Blue Bloods is almost upon us, but is it really the end of the beloved crime drama?
After S.W.A.T. was un-canceled earlier this year, Blue Bloods fans hoped there was a way forward for the long-running series.
Those hopes were dashed when the network confirmed last month that the back half of Blue Bloods Season 14 will 100% be the end for the show.
However, during Paramount’s annual stockholders meeting this week, we got our biggest indication that the franchise will not remain dormant for long.
According to TV Line, Paramount Global co-ceo Brian Robbins hinted a spinoff is in the works.
“In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods,” the exec said.
CBS tends to keep beloved franchises alive with spinoffs
Spinoffs of popular CBS series aren’t a groundbreaking concept, with NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, and Criminal Minds: Evolution being some recent efforts.

Launched back in 2003, the NCIS franchise isn’t losing its ground anytime soon as it keeps expanding the original show’s universe with two more exciting spinoffs to come soon. The franchise is currently working on NCIS: Origins, starring Austin Stowell as young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva with the latter following Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David’s career paths and personal relationships after they both quit the flagship series.
Now that the NCIS universe is getting bigger by significantly enlarging its characters’ background stories, one of the show’s creators has revealed his personal thoughts on potential crossovers in the franchise, and there’s one seemingly big problem that doesn’t seem to be that much of a big deal to him.
Talking about the franchise’s upcoming projects, NCIS co-showrunner Steven D. Binder reflected on a possibility to intertwine all the spinoffs’ worlds with the original...

Right now, it feels like NCIS and a couple of its spin-offs are on everyone's mind. The show, which passed the two-decade milestone, not only hasn't tired its viewers out, it's found two new offshoots to expand its universe and continue its battle with NBC's Law & Order for the longest-running procedural.
Of course, viewers' attention is now divided between NCIS: Origins, which will tell the origin story of Agent Gibbs, previously played by Mark Harmon, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will follow the lives of two former agents after they escape to Europe.
However, the most loyal fans still remember how the franchise lost what could have been its best spin-off 11 years ago.
Why Was NCIS: Red Canceled?

NCIS fans are definitely having some concerns regarding the franchise’s future as many of them have been quite vocal about recent, and pretty much disappointing, decisions that are currently transforming the entire NCIS universe.
Several weeks ago, the franchise officially lost one of its most successful spinoffs NCIS: Hawai’i, but its attempts to make it up to the scrapped show by launching two more series doesn’t really seem to be working.
Regardless of whether fans are excited about it or not, NCIS is getting a replacement for NCIS: Hawai’i by giving a whole new show to the universe’s biggest figure Leroy Jethro Gibbs, something the longtime lovers of the franchise have already lamented over.
Now that there’s no way for NCIS: Hawai’i to be back and Gibbs’ spinoff titled NCIS: Origins is already on its way, fans are determined to consider the upcoming show for watching...

Seems like the last few months have been quite a tough time for the NCIS franchise and especially for its fans. Though things aren’t that bad for the show itself and its spinoffs as NCIS keeps expanding its universe with two more series making their way to the screens soon, some other shows’ brief history on TV isn’t what many viewers would ever want to have.
The recently canceled NCIS: Hawai’i’s huge fandom has been vocal about their intention to bring the show back on TV ever since it was officially scrapped by CBS several weeks ago, and fans’ own investigations prove that another NCIS spinoff is to blame for NCIS: Hawai’i’s unenviable fate.
Even apart from the fact that the upcoming show has completely ruined its fellow series, many fans agree that nobody needs this new spinoff anyway.

NCIS: Hawai’i’s cancellation news has caused quite a stir in the media that hasn’t subsided ever since the news broke back in April.
Some most devoted fans started their own investigation to find out the exact reasons for CBS' decision to ditch the high-rated show, others in the meantime were keeping busy creating and spreading a word about a petition that was supposed to unite NCIS: Hawai’i’s lovers in their fight for the series’ future on TV.
As now the show’s comeback after the cancellation seems less and less feasible, CBS’ other successful shows suddenly got all the heat being blamed for stealing NCIS: Hawai’i’s time slots and even ratings. However weird it may sound, the NCIS franchise’s other spinoff is also one of such series.

CBS canceled a lot of popular shows this season. They canceled Blue Bloods, NCIS: Hawai’i, and CSI: Vegas. They also announced they will bring back S.W.A.T., but only for one more season. The reason the network execs gave was that they wanted to “freshen” things up and hope viewers would like the new shows replacing the beloved canceled series.
One way to do that is by adding in another franchise show, but this one will be very different from everything that came before. CSI: Miami is coming back in a new format.

The NCIS franchise keeps expanding its universe as it’s about to bring Leroy Jethro Gibbs to the screens, the character who left the original show back in season 19. The franchise’s new spinoff titled NCIS: Origins will take its viewers back to 1991 when young Gibbs was about to start his career as an NCIS agent.
Now that the whole series will put its focus on the character’s personal and professional story, Gibbs appears to get not only an honor of his own show, but also the status of the franchise’s most featured character that previously belonged to someone else.
By taking up the spotlight in the upcoming spinoff, Gibbs officially becomes the NCIS universe’s indispensable game player who’ll now be featured in four shows of the franchise.

Last month surely wasn’t the best time for CBS, with the network receiving backlash after canceling several successful shows at once. The list of unfortunate series that were unfairly scrapped included one of the NCIS franchise’s spinoffs NCIS: Hawai’i, and fans were left bewildered by such a harsh decision as literally nobody, including the cast, had seen it coming.
The show lovers’ own investigations proved that the spinoff wasn’t that unprofitable for CBS as its ratings were pretty much decent, but now it seems like the network’s other show and its raving success may be the most solid reason for the cancellation.
At least TV Insider writer Matt Roush’s article suggests so. According to him, the hit status of Young Sheldon, a prequel for CBS’ famous sitcom The Big Bang Theory which recounts Sheldon Cooper’s earlier years in Texas, may have been the final...

NCIS: Hawai’i’s story may be over, but some of its actors aren’t going anywhere, and in quite a weird way. The show was officially canceled earlier this year after 3 seasons, but the NCIS franchise lives on with the original show’s continuous long-standing run and two more spinoffs making their way to the screens quite soon.
Though characters’ shift from one show to another within the same universe is something normal on modern TV, the recent casting news regarding one of NCIS’ spinoffs isn’t what fans may have expected in this case at all.
Though NCIS: Hawai’i has been unfairly ditched, NCIS nonetheless gets more space to expand its universe by diving deeper into the main characters’ personal and professional stories.

CBS’ police procedural drama show NCIS has been a solid game player on TV for more than twenty years now, especially after the show cemented its position as an unyielding installment on the channel when it launched several spinoffs that also got everyone’s acclaim.
While all of the previous spinoffs followed quite the same pattern over the years of their television run, the new ones seem to be breaking the whole franchise’s most common code and thus expanding it even more.
Initially started back in 2003, NCIS was continuing its successful TV path accompanied by four spinoffs with each and one of them going into different geographical directions, quite literally.
The first series titled NCIS: Los Angeles kicked it off in 2009 and followed the Los Angeles-based Office of Special Projects, a separate division of NCIS. The same suit was followed by NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Sydney,...

When an estimated 1,000 international TV buyers descend on Los Angeles for the annual TV event known as the LA Screenings, they will see a contracted market still recovering from the twin Hollywood strikes of last year and, to a somewhat lesser extent, the pandemic.
It kicks off with the LA Screenings Independents, held May 15-17 for smaller studios and distributors at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, which are then followed by screenings at the major studios’ respective lots across May 18-22 where they present their latest shows. They may also host a variety of events for their clients during those days, which may include cocktail receptions and luncheons or dinners with talent and executives.
While stalled projects ramped up as soon as the strikes ended, some delays were inevitable. “A couple of months ago I was wondering if we were going to be entertaining [buyers],” says Lisa Kramer, president, International Content Licensing,...

Looking at the crop of new scripted series selected by the broadcast networks for 2024-25, one cannot help but reminisce about the 20th anniversary of what may have been broadcast television’s greatest season ever.

The NCIS: Hawai’i cast formed a strong bond while filming that they don’t want to let go.
Key cast members shared beautiful photos from a beach where they said goodbye to each other and the series.
CBS canceled NCIS: Hawai’i recently, ending the series after three strong seasons.
Despite a fan petition to save the series, the network pushed on with a Fall 2024 schedule that doesn’t include the NCIS spin-off.
Instead, NCIS: Origins takes over on Monday nights, with the prequel series set to debut after episodes from NCIS Season 22.
Vanessa Lachey recently returned to Hawai’i to ponder what had happened, and she even apologized to her cast and crew for not getting a proper goodbye.

An NCIS: Origins cast video was released to get potential viewers excited.
This new show from the NCISverse is taking some risks, as the producers hope fans want to see stories from younger versions of some important characters.
Flashback episodes of NCIS went over very well, with stories like when Leroy Jethro Gibbs first met Donald Mallard. They even had Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) play a younger version of Gibbs.
The idea to do flashbacks has been fleshed out into a full series, with episodes of NCIS: Origins debuting in Fall 2024.
The new show gets the 10/9c timeslot on Mondays that has been vacated by NCIS: Hawai’i. Unfortunately, the Vanessa Lachey NCIS spin-off was canceled by CBS.
NCIS Season 22 will air on Mondays at 9/8c in the fall, serving as the lead-in for this new prequel show.

NCIS’ upcoming prequel centring on Mark Harmon's Leroy Jethro Gibbs is gradually piecing together as the show is getting its preps for the production. Coming under the name NCIS: Origins, the series will take the viewers back to 1991 showing Gibbs, this time portrayed by younger actor Austin Stowell, at the very start of his NCIS agent’s career.
While CBS is all excited to find a substitute for the canceled NCIS: Hawaii’s time slot, some fans don’t seem to be that enthusiastic after the show’s execs released its first promo image.
The NCIS: Origins’ image gives a first look at Stowell as young Gibbs, and though the actor seems to be a good fit for the show, something in there still doesn’t look quite right. Some fans were quick to point out that, surprisingly, it’s Stowell’s hairstyle that spoils the whole impression of the character’s younger version.

CBS has been “freshening” up its lineup by canceling some fan-favorite shows and replacing them with new versions, hoping fans will happily switch to the new shows. CBS canceled Blue Bloods to add more to the Fire Country franchise. It is also canceling NCIS: Hawai’i and replacing it with NCIS: Origins. Now, they are replacing CSI: Vegas as well.
Here is a look at what is coming next for the CSI franchise.
CBS Bringing New CSI Series To Summer Season
CBS announced several shows that they canceled and some were not only fan favorites but were also successful in the ratings. Things started out exciting when CBS brought back CSI: Vegas because it saw Gil Grissom (William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) return. However, they only lasted one season and the new cast had to carry the series.
After three seasons and 39 episodes, the ratings continued to be strong.

CBS’ police procedural thriller show NCIS has been having quite a good time on TV with the recent season 21 being aired and multiple spinoff series making their way to the show universe’s expansion.
Back in January NCIS’ prequel show called NCIS: Origins was officially greenlit for airing sometime in 2025; this time the show will be centring on Leroy Jethro Gibbs’s story that will take viewers back to 1991 when the character was about to kick his NCIS agent’s career off.
With the previous news that Austin Stowell was cast to portray young Gibbs in the upcoming prequel, some other major updates about the show’s ensemble didn’t take too long to arrive either.
According to Deadline’s reports, NCIS: Origins has officially added Patrick Fischler and Julian Black Antelope. The former has recently starred in Jeffrey Wright-led Oscar-winning black comedy drama American Fiction while the latter...

The NCIS season finale ended on a big cliffhanger for Agent Jessica Knight (played by Katrina Law).
Much of the episode teased a terrible fate for Knight and Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole).
The duo was trapped in a ship that was destined to be sunk as an artificial reef. They had been locked inside by a murder suspect, and nobody knew their location.
Parker became seriously injured as the duo tried to find a way out, leading to Knight taking a swim through a dark passageway to find help.
Just before Knight drowned and Parker bled out, the rest of the team rescued them, ending that particular storyline. But that wasn’t the cliffhanger.
Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) had a job offer for Knight that would take her to Camp Pendleton – across the country from her current post.

Was that for real?
Is Jessica Knight out the door as it appeared after NCIS Season 21 Episode 10?
And did the only intrateam romance in the current NCIS franchise go with her?
It's been a wacky season for TV as the networks slash and cut, then slash some more following the new writers' and actors' contracts.
And it is conceivable that Katrina Law wanted out. She joined the Hawaii Five-0 cast for what turned out to be its 10th and final season, with its cancellation a surprise to many. Maybe she wanted to get a jump this time, in case Season 22 is it for NCIS.
That's not out of the realm of possibility. After all, the show's favorite characters are still featured on CBS/Paramount+, with NCIS: Origins (young Gibbs), and the unnamed Tony and Ziva project. Why pay for the Mother Ship as well?
Also, it's not unusual to have surprise departures on NCIS finales,...

Hey, "NCIS: Hawaii" fans. We truly hope you enjoyed every last friggin minute of tonight's episode 10, especially since it will apparently be the last episode of NCIS: Hawaii that you will ever see forever. Yep, we were very shocked to hear the news, but it is true. Not only was tonight's episode 10 the finale episode of this current season 3, but it was also the series finale episode. According to the folks over at Deadline.com, the cancellation was most likely due to CBS committing to a lot of new shows, and they had to eventually make a tough decision to let NCIS: Hawaii go. It had good ratings and viewership. They just weren't as good as the other top shows they have. CBS has a very rich line up of shows. So, there's some very tough competition going on over there. Additionally, CBS has committed to other NCIS spin off shows.

The Big Brother 26 season appears destined for a shorter run than Big Brother 25.
With two Hollywood strikes happening, the BB25 cast played the game longer than any previous houseguests.
Jag Bains beat Matt Klotz on Day 100 of Big Brother 26, making it the longest season in history.
Since many scripted dramas and comedies at CBS — NCIS, FBI, Fire Country, etc. — were delayed in production, it left timeslots open for shows like Big Brother.
Now that the strikes have ended, CBS can return to its regular fall programming, and that’s exactly what they announced this week.
Shows like NCIS: Origins were added to the CBS primetime schedule, and many hit shows are returning for new episodes in September of 2024.

Despite canceling Blue Bloods after 14 seasons, the cast has been lobbying for a last-minute reprieve on CBS.
Sadly, the network has confirmed that the series is no longer in contention for renewal and will end after 14 seasons in December.

NCIS: Sydney is a spin-off filmed and based in Australia, which found massive success in primetime during the two Hollywood strikes.

Fans were shocked to hear that “NCIS: Hawai’i,” the newest series in CBS’ “NCIS” franchise, had been canceled after three seasons last week. At a press briefing in Los Angeles, CBS executives said the decision came down to a balance of cost and ratings, as well as cohesion across the network’s 2024-2025 schedule.
“It is incumbent on us to always keep the schedule fresh, keep momentum going. We had to make some really tough choices this year,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach told reporters. “Everything came back [from the Hollywood strikes] really strong, but ultimately we have to look at the cohesiveness of the schedule flow. We have to evaluate the financials and the performance overall, and we make tough decisions.”
When asked whether there was a chance of un-cancellation, as happened when CBS reversed its decision to end “S.W.A.T.” on two separate occasions, Reisenbach said no.
