Casting director Linda Lamontagne got her start in sitcoms including “Roseanne” and “Cybill” in the early 1990s but less than a decade later she made a full-time pivot to voiceover for animated comedies and films. Crediting “Family Guy” as the title that truly turned the tide for her, she then went onto such projects as “The Magic School Bus Rides Again” franchise, “The Angry Birds” movie, “The Powerpuff Girls,” “Tuca & Bertie” and, most recently, “Invincible,” for Amazon Prime Video.
What made you want to get into voice casting and how different is your process than when you were in live action?
It sort of found me. The first animated thing I did was “The Last Halloween,” this CBS special, and I thought, “This is kind of cool.” And then “Family Guy” turned my career around because all of a sudden I was only known for animation. It is different casting,...

Ah, the mellifluous refrain of Lily Tomlin’s Ms. Frizzle warning: “Strap in, kids. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.” How many lazy afternoons were spent learning about the digestive tract from the inside of an intestine, or flying inside an exhaust pipe to fix a faulty engine and learn what a carburetor is? Now, it’s time for the next generation to surreptitiously learn about science at the urging of an eccentric, frizzy-haired teacher. Netflix released the first trailer for its reboot of “The Magic School Bus,” a beloved and educational kids’ show that ran for four seasons from 1994-1997 on PBS Kids, titled “The Magic School Bus Rides Again.”

Yes, the person singing the updated theme song is “Hamilton” creator and Oscar nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda. In this version, “Saturday Night Live’s” Kate McKinnon plays Ms. Frizzle, but not the same Ms. Frizzle, played by Lily Tomlin in the original cartoon.
