A science fiction thriller set to be released sometime in 2024, The Electric State is set to become one of the most expensive movies ever made, and is set to cost a whopping $320 million.

The Russo Brothers, Anthony, and Joseph, are two of the most successful filmmakers of recent years and have been involved in some of the most successful Marvel iterations till date. This also includes 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which resulted in a triumphant send-off for the director duo from the MCU, garnering almost $2.8 billion worldwide.

What’s more, back when the Russo Brothers were part of the MCU, it was effectively a golden bird for Marvel. Avengers: Endgame was the second-last movie of the MCU’s Phase III, and there has been considerable stagnancy ever since. Be it in the form of narrative problems, dwindling box office returns, or repetitive storytelling, there are simply a number of reasons why fans have not been as impressed with Marvel’s offerings over the past few years.

Twenty years ago, Troy and its cast made its mark on epic filmmaking. Director Wolfgang Petersen’s take on Homer’s Iliad featured an ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt and created a wildly entertaining, if not entirely accurate, movie.
Working from a script by future Games of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, the Troy cast brought to life legends like Achilles, Helen of Troy, and Hector. Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger were among those who joined Pitt in the impressive cast. While many of the actors haven’t made another film on Troy‘s scale, they continue to perform in blockbuster movies 20 years later.

Alan Silvestri is a legendary composer who counts like likes of Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Lilo & Stitch, and Ready Player One among his many credits. He's also something of an icon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Responsible for creating the now unmistakable theme for Earth's Mightiest Heroes first heard in 2012's The Avengers, Silvestri kicked off his MCU run by lending his talents to Captain America: The First Avenger. He'd later return for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Total Film recently caught up with the composer and asked if he's planning to work on another Marvel movie.
"Well, it looks like that could be happening, I just can’t talk about it [Laughs]," he teased. "I love that universe, for sure." While The Fantastic Four seems like a possibility for Silvestri, we'd be shocked if Marvel Studios isn't lining him up for Avengers 5 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty...

Guy Ritchie has been maintaining a consistent success rate with his films ever since his debut with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. However, his recent ventures like The Covenant and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare have not fared well at the box office. The situation seems to be similar for the Russo brothers post their hit Marvel run.
Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin was a big hit for Disney in 2019
Their non-Marvel projects like Cherry and The Gray Man have not resonated with audiences. The Russos and Ritchie are returning to Disney for the live-action adaptation of Hercules. We know that not a long time ago, Kevin Feige said that he was working on his own Star Wars movie and that Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo were eyed to direct the movie. And while nothing official had been made in the direction of that movie’s production, it seems that it was dead before it even started, as Feige has confirmed that this movie is not happening anymore, and the Russo Brothers are in agreement with that line of thought.
In a recent interview, the Russo Brothers reaffirmed their desire to create and film original stories and stated that they are not interested in franchise works since people are seemingly bored with it.

The general public isn't always the best at accepting the reality that child stars and teen idols eventually do grow up, struggling to see them as anything but their most memorable role during adolescence. But a trend has emerged in recent years, where the stars of massive teen franchises are getting the chance to grow. People have stopped making "Twilight" jokes about the Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart and "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson, while Zac Efron's turn in "The Iron Claw" had people campaigning on his behalf for an Oscar. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lawrence completed "The Hunger Games" and became the second-youngest person to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress, with all three main stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise having gone on to great success in other roles.
There's still plenty of room for growth (like folks who discredited Charles Melton in "May December" because his breakthrough role...

Netflix has named Dan Lin, the producer of “The Lego Movie” and Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” live-action adaptation, as the new Chairman of Film to replace Scott Stuber, the company announced Wednesday.
The film industry veteran will begin on April 1 and report to Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer. Stuber, who announced his exit last month and that he would step down in March, was with the streamer seven years.
“Dan’s experience as both an executive and a producer is marked by a consistent ability to draw in exceptional filmmakers,” content chief Bela Bajaria said in a statement. “But what really got my attention was his creation of Rideback, a dynamic community for filmmakers, fostering collaborative and creative environments. His visionary approach has led to the establishment of incubators and residencies, propelling the careers of extraordinary talent, as well as a steady slate of blockbuster films.

The Russo Bros’ The Gray Man was supposed to be a game-changer for Netflix. Fresh off directing two of the biggest films ever made (Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame), the Russo’s were confident they could bring the same kind of “can’t miss” event to a streamer. Indeed, The Gray Man sported a budget on par with the biggest Marvel movies and an all-star cast that included Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. The movie was indeed a hit for Netflix, with it currently sitting at number 5 on their all-time most popular movies list, but reaction to the film was more mixed than anticipated, and right now The Gray Man 2 seems like a questionable idea.

Damsel signals a turn into more adult fare for the actress, who recently turned 19, and is set to end her run on Stranger Things after its upcoming season.
Brown has also worked with the streamer on the Enola Holmes movies in addition to Damsel. The movie was initially planned for a 2023 release, but Netflix has confirmed that the film will now come out in 2024. The new trailer promises lots of large scale action courtesy of director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who previously helmed the excellent 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Weeks Later.
The synopsis of the film reads:
“A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt.

If you want to see Ke Huy Quan's life change in real time, keep an eye on his performance in "Loki" season 2. According to producer Kevin Wright, who recently spoke to io9 about the show, Quan was actually cast in the time-twisting Marvel series just as "Everything Everywhere All At Once" was hitting big. According to his timeline, Quan likely filmed the show while his name was being thrown around for award consideration (he would eventually go on to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar). "The buzz was picking up on 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' — that was happening as we were shooting — and then when we were in post-production, he had won an Academy Award," Wright told the outlet, adding, "The timing was crazy."

Netflix’s Stranger Things became a pop culture sensation and an anchoring series for the streamer’s original content. The show made its young cast instant stars who got to experience their own little version of the Beatles mania when fans showcased unbridled enthusiasm at conventions and public appearances. One of the series’ popular characters, Eleven, is portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown. The young actress would grow up on the show and would go on to branch out to other projects, including Netflix’s Enola Holmes films.
Stranger Things is gearing up for its last season, and according to Variety, Brown is ready to pounce on the concluding year. Brown is currently featured on the cover story of Glamour magazine for an interview she conducted before the initiation of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Millie Bobby Brown told Glamour magazine (in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began) that she will not mourn the end of “Stranger Things,” which is set to film its fifth and final season once the strike is resolved.
“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” Brown said. “’Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
Brown noted that starring as Eleven in “Stranger Things” has given her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor,” adding, “When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people.” These comments echo similar ones Brown made to Women’s Wear Daily in August,...

You know the saying: "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt." It's something parents used to tell us when we were kids and roughhoused too hard, but in the context of the upcoming horror thriller "All Fun and Games," the adage sounds more like a promise than a warning. The film follows a group of teens whose night of fun turns very high stakes when a demon gets involved, forcing them to play life-or-death versions of the kids' games that many of us love. Fan-favorite actors like Natalia Dyer and Asa Butterfield are among the cast, and the Russo brothers' production company is on board.
In a press release, Vertical Partner Peter Jarowey called the movie "a gripping debut film based on a high concept idea that caught, and held, our attention immediately." There's no trailer or "All Fun and Games" yet, but the movie does have a...

With “Succession” now over, it’s time for Brian Cox to find a new major role. Recently, he’s kept busy with smaller indie pics like “Mending The Line,” “Prisoner’s Daughter,” as well as “The Independent” on Peacock. And in the next couple of years, he’ll star in The Russo Bros.‘ “The Electric State” on Netflix and provide voice work for “The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim.” But EW reports there’s something on Cox’s acting wishlist before he “snuffs it,” as he puts it on Variety’s “Actors On Actors” interview: he really wants to work with Meryl Streep.

It’s hard to say goodbye to an ensemble cast as talented as Succession’s. Even though we won’t get to see them perform together every week, at least we can find comfort in knowing that this isn’t the last time we’ll see these actors share their talents with the world. While many movie and TV productions are on hold right now due to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers’ (AMPTP) inability to meet the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) reasonable terms, there are still several upcoming projects featuring the incredibly skilled members of Succession, both on the stage and the screen, that are worth keeping an eye on.

Ti West has locked in an all-star cast for his Mia Goth-led A24 horror pic MaXXXine, with Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.), Moses Sumney (The Idol), Michelle Monaghan (Nanny), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Halsey (Americana), Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) and Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill) closing deals for roles.
MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. Ke Huy Quan was on a mission. He’d just been named best supporting actor for his performance as Waymond Wang, the goofy husband of a laundromat owner in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” and he wanted to experience the moment with Steven Spielberg. Spielberg, you see, was the filmmaker who cast him in his breakout role in 1984’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” when Quan was 12 years old.
So during a commercial break in the Academy Awards telecast, Quan, 51, went over to where Spielberg was sitting with his wife, actress Kate Capshaw, whom Quan hadn’t seen since they co-starred in “Temple of Doom” four decades earlier. After hugs all around, Spielberg put his hands on Quan’s shoulders and said, “You are now an Oscar-winning actor.”
