Perhaps the most overlooked series in the "Star Trek" canon ("Short Treks" and "Very Short Treks" notwithstanding), "Star Trek: The Animated Series" may be accepted as the final two years in the U.S.S. Enterprise's five-year mission. "Star Trek: Tas" debuted on September 8, 1973, four years after the cancelation of "Star Trek," to reunite the original cast and writers to explore Starlfeet's adventures in a 30-minute, animated format. The animation was provided by Filmation, the studio that had previously overseen multiple Batman and Superman cartoons, Archie cartoons, "Gilligan's Island" spinoffs, and which would go on to produce the ultra-popular "Fat Albert," "The Groovy Goolies," "BraveStarr," and "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." Filmation shows were popular among kids, but their animations tended to be stiff and inexpressive. The most prominent feature of "Star Trek: Tas" is how static it looks.

Even before the third and final season of "Star Trek: Picard" finished airing on Paramount+ in 2023, showrunner Terry Matalas was speaking openly about wanting to make a spinoff called "Star Trek: Legacy." The third season of "Picard" was far better than the previous two seasons, and Trekkies began to excitedly speculate about its continuation, constructing entire pitch packets in their minds.
The final episode of "Picard" saw the U.S.S. Titan-a rechristened as the Enterprise-G, with Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) serving as its captain. Raffi (Michelle Hurd), her ex-girlfriend, was her first officer, and Picard's son Jack (Ed Speleers) had been rushed through Starfleet Academy so that he could serve as an ensign. It seemed like the setting and premise for "Legacy" was firmly in place.
Other supporting players from "Picard" would serve as the rest of the ensemble and, to make things even more tantalizing, audiences...

Who are the most significant influences on your musical life and career as a composer? A great film or TV score is most potent as an artform when it reinforces the emotion on screen, but it also knows when music is not needed. What strategies do you employ to get this balance right? These were some of the topics discussed by four top TV composers when they joined Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&a event with 2024 awards contenders: Julia Newman (“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans”), Sherri Chung (“Based on a True Story”), David Fleming (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”) and Nami Melumad (“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”). Bryan Fuller and A24 have severed ties over the “Friday the 13th” Peacock prequel series.
The show was announced in 2022 at Peacock with the title “Crystal Lake,” and while details were kept under wraps, the series was confirmed to be a prequel to the original 1980 slasher film that followed the Voorhees mother-son duo as teenagers were murdered at an abandoned summer camp.
The series will go on, IndieWire has confirmed. A24 will remain the studio and Peacock the platform — they’re currently searching for a new showunner. Production on the series had yet to start.
“Adapting classic horror is something I have some experience with. These shows require a vision that elevates and transforms, as well as delivers what audiences have come to expect, which is an ambitious and risky endeavor. It requires people to take the leap with me,” Fuller captioned on Instagram. “For reasons beyond our control, A...

"Star Trek: Discovery" is in the midst of its last official mission, as the Paramount+ series is set to sign off at the end of May after five seasons. The first "Star Trek" series of the streaming era has seen its share of highs and lows over the years, but the casting of Blu del Barrio, the first openly non-binary actor in the "Trek" universe, is undoubtedly a high point. The actor spoke to Comic Book Resources ahead of the show's ending, sharing takeaways from the experience and revealing that their last day on set was emotional -- just not in the way you might expect.
"I could not stop laughing," del Barrio revealed when asked about how it felt to give these characters their "final send-off" in a portion of the "Discovery" finale that was filmed after the rest of the episode. "Everybody was crying, but I couldn't stop laughing,...

Since 2015, screenwriter and producer Alex Kurtzman has been the head honcho of "Star Trek" over at Paramount. Although Bryan Fuller came up with the initial idea for the streaming era's inaugural "Star Trek" series "Star Trek: Discovery," which debuted in 2017, it was Kurtzman who completely reworked the show from its origins, hence launching Paramount+ as an all-our-eggs-in-the-"Star"-"Trek"-franchise's-basket service. Kurtzman served as executive producer on all five "Star Trek" shows that began after "Discovery," including the now-concluded "Star Trek: Short Treks" and "Star Trek: Picard," as well as the soon-to-be-concluded "Star Trek: Prodigy" and "Star Trek: Lower Decks." Also soon to conclude is "Discovery" itself, which is currently partway through its fifth and final season.

"Star Trek: Enterprise" debuted on September 26, 2001, the sixth official "Star Trek" series since the debut of Gene Roddenberry's original in 1966. "Enterprise" came right at the end of a massive "Star Trek" renaissance that saw the 1987 debut of the massively successful "Star Trek: The Next Generation," the 1993 debut of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," the 1995 debut of "Star Trek: Voyager," and the release of "Star Trek: Generations," "Star Trek: First Contact," and "Star Trek: Insurrection" in theaters. The glut of "Star Trek" was a dream for TV programmers who would often schedule entire blocks of the franchise merely to puff up their docket. Personally, this author recalls a time when "NextGen," "DS9," and the original series would run back-to-back-to-back on certain weeknights.

In the "Futurama" episode "The Problem with Popplers", the Planet Express crew lands on a distant, uncharted planet hoping to find a fast food joint; the ship had run out of supplies and Bender (John Dimaggio) was only able to make a meal with baking soda and capers. They land on a Class-m planet which, as Leela (Katey Sagal) explains, should at least provide roddenberry bushes. What they find instead are craters stuffed with brown, crunchy, edible meat nuggets ... that are utterly delicious. Snarfing ensues.
No one has set foot on this planet before so the Planet Express crew packs up the morsels and takes them back to Earth to sell on street corners. It's not long before they attract the attention of fast food proprietor Fishy Joe (Maurice Lamarche), and turn the nuggets — nicknamed Popplers — into a global phenomenon.

Since 2017, "Star Trek" has gone through some dramatic ups and downs. The launch of "Star Trek: Discovery" that year was a clarion call for the franchise, announcing that "Star Trek" was back on TV after a 13-year hiatus. "Discovery," however, was notoriously expensive and not widely beloved. It was soon joined on CBS All Access/Paramount+ by an overwhelming glut of "Star Trek" shows, each one set at a different period in Trek history. There was a brief moment when six Trek shows were running simultaneously.
The streaming model, however, proved to be unprofitable, and Paramount has been slowly extracting all its eggs from the Trek basket in recent years. "Discovery" is about to debut its fifth and final season, "Prodigy" will likewise end after its next year, "Short Treks" is seemingly no more, and "Picard" recently drew to a close. Three of the 12 "Star Trek" shows to date begin with the same familiar narration, which was originally spoken by Captain Kirk (William Shatner) in 1966:
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise, its five-year mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."
For "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" (2022), "no man" was changed to "no one." "Next Generation" was also a "continuing mission" and not a "five-year mission." That narration has come to represent the ethos of the entire "Star Trek" franchise, highlighting that the various shows and movies are about exploration, new life, and going boldly. Unlike the title crawl of "Star Wars," there is no talk of conflict, conquering enemies, or asserting dominance. In the original series, the narration played over a gentle...

You always hope your indie movie might get some extra attention.
That specific wish became a reality for the team behind “My Dead Friend Zoe,” which premiered at SXSW this past weekend. From army veteran Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, the personal film tells the story of a shattered veteran (Sonequa Martin-Green) haunted by the ongoing presence of her deceased platoon mate (Natalie Morales). It was recently announced that three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce is an executive producer on the project.
When chatting with Martin-Green about her starring role on “Star Trek: Discovery,” we also asked the actress about what happens when a little indie movie that is currently seeking distribution combines with the kind of tabloid superpower that makes Fox News shake in its boots. Namely: What did you think when you found out Travis Kelce would be one of the producers on this project, in terms of eyeballs on your work?...

When asked to sum up Season 5 of “Star Trek: Discovery” in just one word, star Sonequa Martin-Green went with “Culminating.”
The Paramount+ series will conclude its run with the forthcoming season, premiering April 4. Although cast and crew didn’t know this would be the final season when they shot it, as Martin-Green tells IndieWire, they are feeling good about where they end things.
“I was moved, I was touched, I think I cried,” Martin-Green said about the moment she read the final script. “…So I just think that it’s special, I think it’s bold, I think it’s beautiful, I think it’s poetic.”
That doesn’t mean she was ready to spill about any specific details such as where her character, Michael Burnham, might end up — or with who. When asked if there would be a happily ever after for Burnham and David Ajala’s Book, she...

The third season of "Star Trek: Picard," overseen by showrunner Terry Matalas, ended with an intriguing new setup. After the season's story had concluded, the action fast-forwarded one year to when Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) had become a provisionary ensign in Starfleet. Jack, with his father (Patrick Stewart) and mother (Gates McFadden), took a good long gander at his new assignment, the Titan-a, newly rechristened the Enterprise-g. This new ship was to be captained by Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), formerly the first officer on board the Titan-a, and the vessel was poised to go on its first deep-space mission with its new name.
Also on board were Raffi (Michelle Hurd), Seven's ex-girlfriend and also her first officer, as well as former Titan crewmembers Lieutenant Matthew Arliss Mura (Joseph Lee), Ensign Kova Rin Esmar (Jin Maley), and presumably Dr. Ohk (Tiffany Shepis). In a post-credits stinger after the final "Picard" episode,...

Searching for and listening to movie soundtrack music for the year is an active quest of curiosity, discovery, and collage. For those fatigued and pushing through the chilliest season, I hope this mix can provide both energy and warmth, as it did to me in making it.Trends in film music over the last decade are continuing strong in 2023, particularly in the ambition of independent auteurs using complex and unusual scoring. The foundation for this mix is Angela Schanelec's beautiful and aptly titled Music, which provides both diegetic and non-diegetic moments to guide us. Samples range from The Old Oak, in which classical choral choir meets Syrian guitar and words of hope that now hit harder than ever, to a mix of sentimental strings courtesy of the legendary Joe Hisaishi. Abstract experimental sounds by two completely different kinds of artists—Harmony Korine and Thomas Newman—are mixed with sliced...

In 1966's "Mudd's Women," he served as a seller and transporter of mail-order brides. It's later revealed that Mudd is a notorious swindler and smuggler and is wanted for various criminal endeavors throughout the quadrant. On June 23, 2023, Paramount announced that it was going to remove several shows from its streaming service Paramount+ and cancel its animated Nickelodeon series "Star Trek: Prodigy" after the conclusion of its second season, due out in 2024. This announcement incurred the ire of Trekkies everywhere, as "Prodigy" would be left wholly unavailable to anyone who hadn't purchased a Blu-ray or DVD of the series. For a few days after the announcement, hard copies of "Star Trek: Prodigy" were in short supply, as panicked media collectors wanted to get their hands on a "Star Trek" show before it was seemingly erased from history completely.
A recent press release, however, has revealed a reprieve. Netflix has announced that it will be handling the presentation of "Star Trek: Prodigy" going forward.

There was a time, not too long ago, when there were six "Star Trek" shows running simultaneously. When Paramount launched CBS All Access (now Paramount+) in 2017, the company put all its eggs into one basket, sextupling down one of their most lucrative entertainment franchises. First, there was "Star Trek: Discovery," a prequel to the original 1966 series. To keep viewers subscribed in between seasons, the studio launched "Short Treks" in 2018. In 2020, fans of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" were granted the follow-up show "Star Trek: Picard." That year also saw the debut of the self-effacing animated comedy series "Star Trek: Lower Decks." 2021 brought the kid-friendly, Nickelodeon animated series "Star Trek: Prodigy," and the "Discovery" spinoff "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" started up in 2023.
In recent months, however, "Star Trek" has contracted considerably. "Short Treks" has changed into "Very Short Treks," "Picard" came to an end, and "Prodigy" was notoriously canceled. "Discovery...

The latest "Star Trek" animated series, "Very Short Treks," attempts to honor — or at least revisit and poke fun at — arguably the most underrated series in the nearly 60-year-old franchise. "Star Trek: The Animated Series" was a two-season Saturday morning cartoon show starring most of the original cast and written by many of the original writers, which filled in the gaps left in the historical records after the Enterprise's five-year mission got cut short by CBS.
While "Star Trek: The Animated Series" could be a little hit-and-miss (just like every other "Trek" show) it expanded on the original series in crucial ways. The animation was limited, but there was no longer any need to hold back on ambitious creatures and concepts due to budgetary concerns. So the cartoon featured an array of bizarre worlds and life forms that had never been possible on the show before and have rarely been explored since.

The second episode of the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" is called "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee," which is a fun reference to Harlan Ellison's 1967 post-apocalyptic short story "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream." The plot sees Lieutenant Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Commander Ransom (Jarry O'Connell), and a traditional "Star Trek" Redshirt trekking to a distant alien zoo where a pair of humans have accidentally been put on display. Mariner notes that this sort of thing happens all the time and that rescuing humans from alien zoos is a regular occurrence in Starfleet.
The alien zoo in question is overseen by a sentient humanoid root vegetable named Narj. Narj, a mild-mannered figure, explains that imprisoning humans was a mere accident and that the animals in his menagerie are all happy in their respective artificial biomes. "Star Trek: The Animated Series," originally just called "Star Trek," debuted on September 8, 1973. It will soon be commemorating its 50th anniversary. To celebrate, as announced at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Paramount will be newly animating several "Star Trek" characters and tapping extant "Star Trek" actors to produce several promotional bumpers in the old "Tas" style. Jonathan Frakes will play Commander William Riker in one such bumper, Armin Shimerman will return to play Quark in another, while Doug Jones will appear as Saru from "Star Trek: Discovery."
The announcement was given by "Star Trek" creative consultant Casper Kelly, who previously worked on "Star Trek: Short Treks."
"Star Trek: The Animated Series" famously reunited most of the original series cast (Walter Koenig does not appear) and merrily continued the five-year mission of the U.S.S. Enterprise. James Doohan reprised his role as Scotty, but also took on a lot of the show's supporting characters,...

Spanish director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage) is re-teaming with his Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom composer Michael Giacchino for his new project, La sociedad de la nieve (Society of the Snow). Netflix, which is producing the Spanish-language survival thriller, confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Society of the Snow aims to retell the story of the Uruguayan rugby team which, en route to Chile in 1972, crash-landed on a glacier in the heart of the Andes. The survivors were forced to resort to extreme measures in order to stay alive. Bayona, Bernat Vilaplana, Jaime Marques and Nicolás Casariego co-wrote the screenplay to Society of the Snow, adapting the non-fiction book La sociedad de la nieve by Pablo Vierci. Filming took place in 2022 in Spain, Uruguay and Chile including on location in the El Valle de las Lágrimas, where the real crash occurred.

It will be a quick return to network primetime for Wendi McLendon-Covey. NBC has picked up to series St. Denis Medical, its single-camera workplace comedy starring The Goldbergs alumna and veteran David Alan Grier.
This marks the first 2023 NBC pilot to get a series order as the network again shifted most — in this case all — pickup decisions to after the upfronts.
The first pickup is not a surprise: St. Denis Medical, written by the Superstore and American Auto duo of Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin and to directed by Superstore’s Ruben Fleischer, was an early front-runner, getting enthusiastic reception in network screenings.

There is a lingering question that hangs over most installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one that seems to vary from chapter to chapter: How much creative control do the writers and directors really have? The MCU, unlike any long-running feature film series before it, is constructed like a massive cross-media TV show, with each film, miniseries, or full season of streaming drama treated as a singular episode. Executive producer Kevin Feige essentially serves as a showrunner, and it is Feige who arranges the McU's chapters. There appear to be very strict creative parameters at play, and the McU's individual directors cannot, for instance, dramatically change a costume or kill off whatever characters they want.

"Star Trek: Lower Decks," currently in its third season, took its name from an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Originally airing on February 7, 1994, The NextGen "Lower Decks" introduced several lower-ranking officers, and depicted what life on the Enterprise-d would look like from their perspective. Trekkies could easily see what space adventures were like for Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), but few knew the inner life of Nurse Ogawa (Patti Yasutake). Also in the episode were a very Boimler-like Ensign Lavelle (Dan Gauthier), the very Tendi-like Ensign Sito (Shannon Fill), and the Vulcan, Ensign Taurik. Bruce Beatty played a character named Ben who was a mere civilian.
The point of "Lower Decks" was to show that lower-ranking officers aren't made savvy to the plots and machinations on the bridge. They don't get to sit in the conference room with the senior staff. They only have to follow orders. Although...

The director of Marvel’s new just-in-time-for-Halloween horror special on Disney+, “Werewolf by Night,” has revealed that he had to convince studio president Kevin Feige to let him release the flick in black-and-white.
Director Michael Giacchino, who is more well-known as an Oscar- and Emmy-winning composer (“Up” “Lost”), opened up about how he pushed back against the powers that be at Marvel to keep his creative vision for “Werewolf by Night,” which was released on Friday, intact.

Okay, who’s ready to take another trip into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (like I have to ask)? Whoa there true believer, hold up, this isn’t a review of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That’s still four or five weeks away. No, consider this an appetizer, a tasty ‘nosh if you will since it’s not quite a feature and it’s too long to really be considered a “short subject’ at a brisk 52 minutes. Oh, and it’s not coming to your multiplex as it will be streaming into your home. This is being called a “Marvel Studios Special Presentation”. I’ll agree with the second word as it explores an “outer region” of the MCU, though it’s not set on one of the alternate dimensions...

Marvel fans tuning in to “Werewolf by Night” Friday on Disney+ may be surprised when they read the director’s name as the end titles roll.
It’s Michael Giacchino, who is far better known as the Oscar- and Emmy-winning composer of “Up” and “Lost,” not to mention such other high-profile, big-grossing films as “The Batman” and the last three entries in the “Spider-Man” franchise.
But, as Giacchino reminds us, he’s been behind the camera since he was a youngster in Edgewater Park, N.J. “I love making movies,” he says. “I’ve loved it since I was 9 years old. That’s what it was about, gathering every kid in the neighborhood and creating movies in my parents’ backyard.”
He later attended New York’s School of Visual Arts, and while his career ultimately took him into music – scoring such popular films as “The Incredibles,” two “Mission: Impossible” films,...

As Tracy Morgan once put it on "30 Rock" in a song that's still stuck in my head 15 years later: "Spooky scary! Boys becoming men! Men becoming wolves!" Marvel's Halloween special "Werewolf by Night" might not have a werewolf bar mitzvah, but it's still set to offer up some spooky scary wolfman vibes just in time for Halloween. The first-ever footage from the new special just dropped at Disney's D23 Expo today, and /Film's Ethan Anderton was there to catch the sneak preview.

One of the defining aspects of Alex Kurtzman’s career thus far is his close association with the “Star Trek” universe. As a writer and producer for the franchise, he has contributed to two feature films and four live action TV series, one of which – “Star Trek: Short Treks” – brought him his first Primetime Emmy nomination. This year, he has applied his sci-fi experience to his and Jenny Lumet’s creation of the popular Showtime drama series “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” on which he also serves as director, writer and producer. Some of the most successful original content on Paramount+ has come from the “Star Trek” universe, with shows like “Star Trek: Picard” helping to keep the iconic television franchise as alive as ever. The streamer is planning to continue to blend nostalgia with new stories as it develops more “Star Trek” shows, and there may be no better example than the upcoming “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” which released its first trailer today.
The show is a prequel to the original series, taking place on the U.S.S. Enterprise in the years before Captain Kirk took the helm. In addition to featuring the iconic ship (which has made appearances on “Star Trek: Discovery” but will now be front and center), the show also features classic characters like Spock in leading roles.

Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (“The Batman”) is making the leap to the director’s chair. Giacchino will make his feature directorial debut on Marvel Studios’ yet-untitled Halloween special.
Golden Globe-winning Mexican actor Gael García Bernal set to lead the cast of the werewolf-focused show that will air on Disney+.
Production on the Halloween special is set to begin later this month.
Giacchino previously directed the 2018 short film “Monster Challenge” and an episode of the animated series “Star Trek: Short Treks,” but the Marvel film will mark his feature debut.
While details about the project are being kept strictly under wraps, individuals with knowledge say the character may be based on “Werewolf by Night,” the name used by two separate Marvel characters.
The first, Jack Russell, was created by Gerry Conway and Mike Ploog, based on concepts by Stan Lee and Roy Thomas, and first appeared in a 1972 issue of “Marvel Spotlight.

The ambition of the entire Species 10-c concept simultaneously intrigues and worries me.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 11 prepares us to encounter a species unlike anything we've ever seen on a Star Trek show.
At the same time, Tarka and Book infiltrating a ship with sentience like Zora's is almost farcical.
Ignoring the fact that we're just supposed to assume Book and Tarka had no problems traversing the Galactic Barrier, how was Discovery not monitoring for their arrival?
For Book's ship to sit cloaked behind some space rock like Wile E. Coyote behind a tree, with Discovery (and Zora) completely oblivious is stretching my ability to suspend my disbelief.
What kind of idiot would pull a practical joke in the middle of an existential threat?

Being an executive producer on any television show is never easy. Being one that’s part of the Star Trek universe is a challenge few have ever experienced. Despite this season's shift towards episodic adventures, Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 6 manages a rather impressive feat of delivering a riveting central plot while building on not one but two long arc narratives.
While they abort the initial mission in order to focus on saving the crew and ship from the toxic rift, they do manage to gather vital information from the energy particles in Book's brain, moving them forward significantly in solving the mystery of who created the Dma, this season's long-game story.
However, something that many viewers don't seem to realize (or have forgotten) is that the Zora arc is an even longer one, seeded back before Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, on the first run of Star Trek: Short Treks, the series of mini-episodes that ran during between seasons from 2018-2020.

Exclusive: Heather Kadin is going out on her own. After 12 years of running a TV production company, Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and its predecessor, Kurtzman and Bob Orci’s K/O Paper Products, as President of Television, Kadin is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Her exit is still being finalized, and it is unclear yet whether Kadin would continue as an executive producer on Secret Hideout’s projects in development, which she has shepherded.
“Heather and I have spent 12 extraordinary years together, and in that time she’s been a brilliant creative force whose passion and dedication have been felt by the many writers and directors we work with at Secret Hideout,” Kurtzman said. “I’m certain she’ll carry that passion into the next phase of her amazing career, I’m so grateful for the time we’ve shared, and I wish her every success and happiness on her bright road ahead.

Amrit Kaur was destined to play Bela Malhotra on The Sex Lives of College Girls. No, seriously. Even though the 28-year-old actor technically wasn't allowed to audition because she didn't meet the O-1 visa requirement, she did so anyway. She ended up nabbing the role after creators Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble personally wrote letters to the government to get Kaur across the border from Canada to the US. "It's unbelievable. There's so much gratitude," Kaur told Popsugar. "There's thousands of people that audition for this one part, and then someone really sees something in you, believes in you, and goes through all these hoops to get you across the border. I have so much gratitude for them because it's such a beautiful role."

Writing partners Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman have teamed up to establish 25 Stories, a new label at CBS Studios, where both are under big overall deals. Led by longtime NBC current executive Bruce Evans, who will serve as EVP, the venture is aimed at amplifying diverse voices and creating sustainable career paths for people of color, from staff writer to showrunner.
25 Stories, which is the brainchild of Lumet, will develop content for linear, premium cable and streaming platforms. It is separate from Kurtzman’s prolific CBS Studios-based Secret Hideout, run by Heather Kadin, which also will continue to be a home for diverse storytellers.
“25 Stories began in my kitchen in 2017 during a marathon screenwriting weekend for about 25 women of color, all extraordinary writers,” said Lumet. “I knew I wanted to bring prestige television by writers of color to the marketplace, and I began to think about how to create a...
