- A runaway bride promises her dying widowed friend that she will assume her identity and look after her infant child.

- Mangal Singh (Rajesh Khanna) has been a career criminal, whose criminal career began to steal food and to keep from starving, and thence got him in deeper and deeper in the criminal world. His crimes have caught up with him and he is sentenced to be hanged. He dramatically escapes with the help of underworld don, Suraj (Pinchoo Kapoor), and is on the run from the police. He lands up in a small village in Northern India, and becomes a school-teacher with the help of local restauranteur, Bijli (Mumtaz). He takes on the identity of Ramu, a friend of Shravan, and goes to live with Shravan's parents, Lalaji (Om Prakash) and Malti (Nirupa Roy), little knowing that they are the parents of a man he killed while escaping from the police.
- A singer by profession, Suraj (Rajesh Khanna) gets stranded in resthouse in the coutnryside during a rainstorm. While there he experiences ununsual feelings, as if he has been there before. He feels himself transported to another time and era, to another birth, and drawn to a woman named Ratna (Hema Malini). He is unable to leave this experience behind him, and decides to find out what this means. He discovers that in his past life he was a Chief Singer in the emperor's court, his name was Prakash and he had fallen in love with a courtesan named Ratna, much to the chargin and anger of his family and the emperor's and his officials. They are tragically separated. He subsequently comes across a portrait of Ratna, and shortly after he meets a gypsy, Jhumri (also Hema Malini) who looks exactly like Ratna. Soon Jhumri is also able to recollect her past life, and her love for Prakash. This does not auger well with Rita Malhotra (Asha Sachdev) who loves Suraj, and Appa (Prem Chopra), the son of the leader of the gypsies (Madan Puri), who will not stop at anything to make Jhumri his wife. Appa steals the portrait, and instigates the gypsies against Suraj, so that he can marry Jhumri, and perhaps separate the two lovers again in this birth also.
- A talented artist (Rajesh Khanna) falls in love with a London-returned doctor, but his past creates problems for him. When that part of his past is resolved and he is to marry the girl he loves, he loses his eyesight in an accident and wounds up a prisoner of a cruel princess. He escapes, and is helped by another man, who nurtures and allows him to recuperate. When the artist returns home to find that the girl he wants to marry is engaged to the man who helped him recover. These songs are still popular: "Kitne arman, kitne sapne laya hoon main dekko na..."; "Diwana lekke aaya hai dil ka karaar, dekho kahin yaaron tukra na dena mera nazrana..."; "Diwana karke chodoge lagta hai yoon humko, sau bar kaha eh jane jahan yu pyar se tum dekka na karo..."; "O mere dil ke chain, chain aye mere dil ko dua kijiye..."; "Chala jata hoon kisiki dhoon me dadakte dil ke tarane liye...";
- A penniless musician is unwittingly forced to trade places with a look-alike diamond merchant/thief causing a comedy of errors by everyone involved.
- Arun meets Vandana during a vacation and very soon they secretly get married. Arun is an Air Force pilot and dies in a crash, leaving pregnant Vandana heartbroken--and unable to prove that she is a married mother-to-be. As her marriage was never formalized she decides not to keep the child, and her own father dies around this time. She gives birth to her son, Suraj, and when a wealthy couple adopts him, she decides to be the nanny. All goes well until Shyam, a relative, starts to eye her, and one day he tries to molest her. Suraj stabs him, and she takes the blame and goes to jail for it. Years later when she is released from jail, the jailer takes her to his house to take care of her daughter Renu. Renu starts bonding well with Vandana and introduces her to her lover--who is none other than Suraj. The moment she sees him, she knows he is her son because he is his father's exact replica. But she decides not to reveal this truth that might embarrass Suraj.
- Rajesh Narain lives a poor lifestyle in a small town in British India along with his brother, Brijesh, Bhabi, and a niece, Munni. He attends college and has a sweetheart in wealthy Kamini Sinha, and both hope to get married someday. While Brijesh is actively involved in trying to force their oppressors (the British) to leave India, poetic Rajesh has no interest in politics. Things change when Brijesh gets killed and Rajesh decides to avenge his death by actively becoming involved with freedom fighters so much so that he quickly becomes a thorn on the Britisher's side and orders are issued to apprehend him - dead or alive. He even spurns Kamini, who ends up getting married to a man of her dad's choice. While on the run from the law, assisted by a Pathan truck-driver, Sher Khan, Rajesh finds shelter in the house of his childhood friend, newly-wed Superintendent of Police, Dheeraj Kumar - not knowing that he will soon be confronted by an embittered Kamini, who is the bride of Dheeraj; Sher Khan, who has been arrested and is being tortured may soon reveal Rajesh's hiding place, and from Dheeraj himself when he finds out that his best friend loves his bride.

Then Moni finds out that Soni is not who she claims she is, and definitely not the daughter of Daulatram, but the daughter of another wealthy man named Nandlal, who had died under mysterious and destitute circumstance.
- Village-based Gopalnath (Pran) had always dreamed of becoming rich. On a visit to Bombay city, his dreams are fulfilled when he agrees to marry plain-looking Roopa, the sole heiress of a wealthy man (Nazir Hussain). Unknown to Roopa, Gopalnath loves fellow-villager, Shyama (Shashikala). After the passing away of Roopa's dad, Roopa gives birth to a baby girl, Ranibala. Gopalnath arranges to have Roopa killed; marries Shyama; and let Ranibala live in a hostel. Years later, his past comes to haunt him in the shape and form of Shyama's relatives, and Ranibala's suitor, Manmohan, who will not leave any stone unturned to blackmail Gopalnath for the rest of his life.
- Arun takes on the responsibility for the care of his step-mother (Sujatha) and step-sisters on the death of his father. Losses in business result in the sale of their palatial home, and Arun together with his wife (Neema - Shabana Azmi) move to a smaller house. Tensions escalate between Neema and Sujatha, even as Arun struggles financially to meet the needs of his family. Things come to a head when she sees her husband eating sweets from the hand of a beautiful woman doctor in a restaurant. Neema leaves her matrimonial home together with her son Abhinandan. Neema sells her jewelry to support her brother's education, without any return on her investment. She and Abhinandan live a life of genteel poverty on the charity of another brother. Divorce court judgment leaves Arun dissatisfied and resentful and he does not meet his son for years. Meanwhile, Neema feeling wronged and cheated by Arun thinks he has remarried and has a new child. The thread of the story begins to unravel when Abhinandan comes to Bombay for higher education. Does Abhinandan hate his father? Does he ride his Rajdoot-Bobby motorcycle from Bombay to Nasik? What happens when Neema and Arun come face to face, after many years in common grief, worry and concern for the well being of a loved one is to be watched.

Panna was forced to steal the diamond by her boyfriend Anil who has left her pregnant and will marry her only if she steals the diamond.Heera also finds that Panna is sister of Reema who often spoke about her.Besides Anil there is Johri and many other con man who want the diamond.Heera must now not only save the diamond but also Panna.
- Pregnant Reshmi decides not to have the baby after she wins a beauty pageant. But her husband Rohit doesn't agree, so she walks out of the marriage. Now, Rohit must try to win her back.

Unknowingly, Kumar also sends his proposal for marriage to Neena, but Neena rejects it. Kumar is offended and shortly before the marriage of Neena and Rohit, molests Neena. Rohit and Kumar become enemies, have a fight and Kumar loses sight in his left eye. Feeling that she is not worthly of Rohit anymore, Neena refuses to marry Rohit. Will Rohit and Neena ever get together again? Will they continue to be haunted by Kumar?
- Akash is a honest and educated young man, employed by the Bombay Municipal Corporation as a clerk. He lives with his equally honest brother, his sister-in-law, a niece, Sharda, and a nephew. Due to Akash's honesty he becomes a liability to his corrupt superiors. One day they find fault with his work, and dismiss him. When Akash attempts to assert himself legally, he finds that there is corruption everywhere. In retaliation, even his brother is implicated in a crime, and arrested. Now Akash must come up with a way to clear his brother, as well as expose the wrong-doers, but will he able to do so in this lifetime?
- A man overhears a murder plot and telephones three different women, all who share the potential victim's name.
- Amar (Rajesh Khanna) and Prem (Prem Chopra) are college buddies, while Asha (Babita) and Shobana (Nazma) become friends. Marriages are arranged; there is a hitch. Dowry is demanded. In Prem's case his older brother, who had resolved never to ask for dowry, is constrained to do so to enable Prem to buy his air ticket to the US for higher studies. Ramprasad, Asha's dad fails to show up for the wedding with the agreed sum, and the wedding is canceled, at the last minute. The amazing thing is that Asha's betrothed never has seen or met Asha, only his parents had. Obedient son that he is, he allows his dad to dictate his actions, and trusts his parents have made the right decision. Prem on his return from the USA has changed for the worse; he takes to drinking, rejects his wife and becomes an office predator, stalking his secretary. She is in love with Amar, but needs the job to help pay off a debt incurred when her father went missing, together with the payroll money he had withdrawn from the bank on behalf of his employer. Asha gamely puts up with the workplace harassment, with a hidden agenda of setting things right for Shobana's marriage. An elaborate charade ensues to teach Prem a lesson in humiliation. When he fails in seduction, is abduction the only option?

- Shalini's mother attempts to poison her entire family when it crumbles financially, but Shalini intervenes and promises to improve their financial condition. Soon, Shalini's family prospers, but her means of income comes into question.

Arun and his mother, Mrs. Mehra (Sulochana) find out that Dinesh is on death-row for killing noted Professor Ashok Verma. Arun does not believe that Dinesh is guilty and so he arranges his escape from prison. As a result Arun has not only the police, including his own father, Inspector General of Police Mehra (Pran) after him on a manhunt but also underworld don Master (Ajit) and his men; and a cold-hearted female assassin (Zeenat Aman) who has reserved two bullets in her gun for Arun and Dinesh.
- Thakur Chandrabhan lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small village in India. He is widowed and lives with his sister; a widowed daughter-in-law, Saraswati; and a grand-daughter, Tara, who is of marriageable age. Also living in this household is Bholanath, who is blind since birth, and helps with household chores. Tara's marriage is arranged with a young man, Pratap Singh, from a noble family, who approves of Tara, but demands a dowry of 3 Lakh Rupees. Chandrabhan does not have this much money, but Bholanath has been stashing away cash, that is guarded by a snake, and offers all of it to Pratap, who accepts it and absconds. Blind Bhola is unable to pursue him, but is instead bitten by the snake, regains his vision and sets forth to Bombay to locate Pratap. Several weeks later, Bholanath returns home, just in time to be told that he must marry Tara, as she refuses to marry anyone else. Tara notices something very odd about Bholanath as he calls her "Tara', not as "Little Mistress" as he used to; he is terrified of snakes; and seems more cultured and educated. The family decides to get the two engaged, however, the ceremony is interrupted by the arrival of the police, who have an arrest warrant for Bholanath for Theft, and Murder of a young woman named Lucy. The question remains, what was Bholanath up to in Bombay, whose money did he steal, and why did he end up killing Lucy?
- Orphaned at a young age, Neetu Singh lives a wealthy lifestyle in Raigadh in a palace which is presided over by her aunt, Rani Maa, and Neetu's paternal uncle, Rajan Singh. She travels and lives for a few years in Switzerland, then returns back to Bombay, India, and has a run-in with some slum-dwellers near Juhu. A few days later she is abducted by two men, who had initially claimed to be palace guards, and is rescued by a male named Raju Khan, a career thief and con-man, who was one of the slum dwellers in Juhu. She reaches Raigadh and shortly thereafter is shocked to find out that Raju is claiming to be the long-lost son of Rani Maa and her betrothed. Her disbelief turns to love when the Court Astrologer confirms that Raju indeed is the sole heir to Raigadh, and both of them fall in love with each other much to the displeasure of Prem Singh, the illegitimate son of Dilip Singh (brother of Rajan) who wants Neetu and Raigadh for himself. What Neetu does not know is that Prem has hired Raju to impersonate Rani Maa's son.
