- VOICE FROM AFAR tells us, through the use of monologues, stories from the lives of four characters. Through these stories we get an insight into life in Britain today. The first storyteller is a refugee from a conflict in an un-named country but probably somewhere in Africa. The second is of a elderly working class London woman reminiscing about her life. The third is a young woman, an economic migrant from Eastern Europe, describing how she has been treated in her new home, and the last is a strange man with a decidedly dystopian view of the world. Barry Bliss (writer/Director) has collaborated again with many of the cast and crew with whom he made POPPIES the previous year. The VOICE FROM AFAR acting line-up is Paul McGann, Gary Kemp, Susan Vidler and Paul Mari. This is an experimental film and was shot over five days between December 2005 and January 2006 in the South Coast town of Margate.
