- Paris in 1943. Joseph, a Jewish man, looks out of his window and sees a Gestapo agent, accompanied by a Wehrmacht officer, getting out of a Traction-avant and heading towards his building. At the time of his arrest, Joseph pretends that the girl is not his, that she is staying there with the landlady. As if in a dream, Suzanne confirms this version. Without a tear, she sees her father leave and never return. The pain will come only later: her father has saved her life.
