- We are thrilled to announce our newest cinematic undertaking: JESUS (2026) - a new, animated family film about the life of Jesus. This animated film, slated to release in late 2026, will be designed to reach families, new generations, and people of all ages with the story of Jesus. The film will be anchored in the Christian Gospels. It will re-imagine the original JESUS film, using much of its dialogue but in a refreshed script. This means that this new animated film will eventually be available in 2,000+ heart languages. JESUS (2026) builds on the global impact of the original JESUS film, and more than 40 years of Bible translation work, language production, and strong relationships with ministry partners who have journeyed with us. Over the years, we have worked with our partners to design resources that break language and literacy barriers so anyone can experience the story of Jesus-no matter where they are in the world. We'll continue to do so together with JESUS (2026). Our production partner on the film is the animation studio Premise Entertainment. This team is comprised of world renowned biblical scholars and archaeologists, alongside gifted and experienced digital artists whose credits include Pixar, Disney and Star Wars films. These creators are utilizing ground-breaking digital innovations to deliver a film which can be viewed across various platforms, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and the Metaverse. A global theatrical release is anticipated in 2026. The film will also be available on digital platforms. To keep up to date on our new animated film, visit jesus.film. - Retelling the Good Story is a collection of three short animated films based on the First Nations Version, an Indigenous translation of the New Testament. These films feature a storyteller, Mishomis, retelling stories of Jesus' life and ministry in beautiful animation inspired by Native American art. Retelling the Good Story was born in partnership with Terry Wildman, author of the First Nations Version published by InterVarsity Press. Retelling the Good Story films use text from the English-language First Nations Version for their scripts. Global Executive leaders from Cru® are equally excited about Jesus Film Project's involvement, noting that with it we push toward innovation. We reach people with the gospel in new ways that resonate visually with their cultures. It's our hope that North American Native people encounter the love of God as they watch the life-changing story of Jesus in a language and medium that speaks to their hearts. Join us in praying for these new films and the people who will be drawn to the Lord through them.
