So haben Krause und seine Schwestern Elsa (Carmen-Maja Antoni) und Meta (Angelika Böttiger) mit ihrer bunt zusammengewürfelten Wahlfamilie alle Hände voll zu tun. Und es warten noch einige weitere Weihnachtsüberraschungen auf sie.

Mit Gespür für vielschichtige Charaktere und erzählerisches Tempo reißt Regisseur Tomy Wigand das Protagonisten-Trio ohne Vorwarnung aus der Komfortzone. Das Drehbuch von Birgit Maiwald führt beide Generationen zu der Frage, wie ein ebenbürtiger Neuanfang möglich wird. Der Witwer Danyal macht sich Sorgen um seine Tochter Jila, obwohl die Ärztin längst auf eigenen Beinen steht. Als der Mittfünfziger vergeblich auf einen Rückruf wartet, eilt er mit zwei Kumpels aus dem fränkischen Kitzingen nach Berlin. Der Karrierejurist Markus und der Entertainer Tobi, ebenfalls liebende Väter mit erwachsenen Töchtern in der Hauptstadt, möchten den Freundschaftsdienst mit der Gelegenheit verbinden, auf ihre Art nach dem Rechten zu schauen. Kaum angekommen, müssen die drei jedoch erkennen, noch weniger über das Leben der jungen Frauen zu wissen, als sie sich hätten träumen lassen. Jila will mit Danyal nicht sprechen, da sie ihn für das Scheitern mehrerer Beziehungen verantwortlich macht. Die erfolglose Schauspielerin Tilda möchte, dass ihr Vater sie nicht mehr mit seinen überzogenen Karriereerwartungen belastet. Und Hanna konfrontiert den selbstgefälligen Richter Markus damit, aus juristisch fragwürdigen Gründen heimlich geheiratet zu haben. Um sich zu sammeln, bleibt den drei Vätern wenig Zeit. Ihr Kurztrip entwickelt eine Eigendynamik, die auch die Töchter an Grenzen gehen lässt .
- German corporate lawyer Max takes on a job in an Amsterdam real estate firm rather than joining his father's construction company. He's relatively happy, yet doesn't quite fit in with his narrow-minded way of thinking -however hard he tries to relax- in the libertine city. Then he falls in love with Dutch snack-bar owner Sophie, who claims to not be interested in him. Unexpectedly Max's parents invite themselves to come 'celebrate' his birthday with a stuffy dinner in a near-by German restaurant and invade his small apartment. After his father's car crashes into to Sophie's father's bike, conflicting loyalties clash, but deep-rooted commitments win out breeding surprising alliances.

But who should take care of their little Jannis during their absence? For Eva it is clear: Grandma Lore has to do that. But she no longer trusts herself to take care of the lively boy. Nothing would actually be more obvious than to ask Heddi, but Eva's anger at her mother is too great. Can she overcome herself and give her mother another chance?

But things gets more serious when editorial director, Moritz (Tom Wlaschiha) offers her more permament job. Unfortunately, she falls in love with him.
- Since the death of her parents ten years ago, Nell (Pia Micaela Barucki) has always been there for her siblings and has taken over the family locksmith's shop. Now she wants to do something good for herself and catch up on some things. On Lake Garda, she trains to become a paragliding instructor, where she meets flight instructor Lukas (Joshua Grothe), who has his eye on her. Nell is not sure if Lukas is the right one, after all there is the restaurateur Simone (Stefano Bernardin) who is also interested in her.
- Volkmar Stenzel is a branch manager as it stands: correct, responsible and always there for customers. But guys like the 57-year-old are just as little needed in the global financial world as branches in rural areas. When the Chinese company, which has just swallowed his Frankfurt-based bank, sends him the young careerist Tutz to process "his" branch, Stenzel feels worthless and "has fallen off the train". He protests against injustice and finally shows what his wife Barbara has been demanding of him for a long time: courage. With money from the dead bank account of a deceased person, he gives the urgently needed transition loan to the ailing daycare center in which his deceased daughter went. His white lie that it is a question of financing from a special secret fund soon attracts other interested parties. Intoxicated by his actions, Stenzel granted further "special loans" - also to the young street musician Jana, who reminded him of his daughter - and thus ensured a surprising upswing in the sleepy town. Unfortunately, there is a catch: If not all loans have been repaid by the time the branch closes on Christmas Eve, Stenzel comes to the devil's kitchen.

With her outsider grandpa by her side, Fanny is tackling her big dream: She wants to win the talent competition at school - as a Fanny Supergirl, of course.
