- Traces the history of organized sport in Sydney from 1870 to the formation of Rugby League in 1908. North Sydney was a foundation club, the first to pay the affiliation fee. The team managed to gain its identity and with the game being played on during the first world war it became the making of Rugby League football in Australia. North Sydney won their first two premierships in 1921 and 1922 and semi finalist a few years later. Shortly after the depression North Sydney became a strong team again making semi finals in 1935 and 1956. During the second world war they made the 1943 Grand Final under captain coach Frank Hyde who would become the famous radio broadcaster. During the 1950s North Sydney made the semi finals three years in a row and were considered unlucky not to win a premiership. It was during the late 1950s that the club uncovered a young local school boy called Ken Irvine who would be considered as the greatest winger in the history of the game.
