- The Maria Clara Awards were the first film awards in the Philippines. They were given out for superlative Filipino film achievements from 1950-1951. After this, the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences took over the awarding of the Filipino motion picture industry's best of the best with its FAMAS Awards.
