- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane. The weakest of the 'Dark Knight' trilogy is still a really good movie, it is a little long but successfully bids farewell to the franchise; there's also some fantastic action and an impactful story, despite the lack of 'Batman'.
- DirectorGareth EvansStarsIko UwaisAnanda GeorgeRay SahetapyA S.W.A.T. team becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs.
- DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsJonah HillChanning TatumIce CubeA pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.Much better than I thought it was going to be, this sharp comedy based off the original TV show is hilarious throughout and has some decent action too; a great amount of fun.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity. This feature knows how to have fun and has some breath-taking action, but the characters are what make it so effective as you really care about each and every one of them.
- DirectorChris ButlerSam FellStarsKodi Smit-McPheeAnna KendrickChristopher Mintz-PlasseA misunderstood boy takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.Laika continue to make stellar stop-motion films; this is a wonderfully animated, wickedly funny and refreshingly unique which is well-done in all of it's aspects.
- DirectorDrew GoddardStarsKristen ConnollyChris HemsworthAnna HutchisonFive college friends head out to a remote cabin for a getaway, but things don't go as planned when they start getting killed. They soon discover that there is more to the cabin than it seems.A witty breath of fresh-air which satirises the horror genre whilst still respecting it. I found it extremely funny and the satire was on point, but the horror elements are successful as well; one of my favourite horror films.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. This year's bond feature is much better than 'Quantum' but still doesn't reach the heights of 'Casino Royale', instead being a slightly slower and more somber affair that still entertains throughout.
- DirectorMorten TyldumStarsAksel HennieSynnøve Macody LundNikolaj Coster-WaldauAn accomplished headhunter risks everything to obtain a valuable painting owned by a former mercenary.
- DirectorThomas VinterbergStarsMads MikkelsenThomas Bo LarsenAnnika WedderkoppA teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie. It's a compelling and at times frustrating examination of a man who's life spirals out of control through no fault of his own, a movie which deals with tough subject-matter but handles it well and keeps it's focus on it's blameless protagonist; brilliant stuff.
- DirectorGary RossStarsJennifer LawrenceJosh HutchersonLiam HemsworthKatniss Everdeen voluntarily takes her younger sister's place in the Hunger Games: a televised competition in which two teenagers from each of the twelve Districts of Panem are chosen at random to fight to the death.
