- DirectorClarence BrownStarsGreta GarboLewis StoneGavin GordonYoung Harry is in love and wants to marry an actress, much to the displeasure of his family. Harry thinks that Bishop Armstrong knows nothing about love, so Armstrong tells him the story of Rita and himself. Rita was an opera star singing in New York, who was at a party given by Cornelius. Armstrong was a 28-year-old rector. He fell for Rita when he saw her and after six weeks he wanted to marry her. Naive as he was, he thought that all of Rita's "relationships" were in the distant past, but Rita lives for the moment and knows that she can never marry Armstrong.Bearable,i wwas about to add barely to bearable but it at least has some interesting historic perspective.
- DirectorJacques FeyderStarsGreta GarboTheo ShallHans JunkermannA young woman reunites with her estranged father and falls in love with a sailor, but struggles to tell them about her dark past.A little difficult to watch, but i'm not sure if it felt so because i watched the German version or if it was the sadness of every character.
- DirectorGeorge FitzmauriceStarsGreta GarboRamon NovarroLionel BarrymoreA semi-fictionalized account of the life of Mata Hari, an exotic dancer who was accused of spying for Germany during World War I.I was entertained because i did not expect any historical accuracy. The last scene was quite pretty and touching.
- DirectorRobert Z. LeonardStarsNorma ShearerRobert MontgomeryChester MorrisWhen a woman discovers that her husband has been unfaithful to her, she decides to respond to his infidelities in kind.Great movie, the plot was so daring i think it still could (partially) used nowadays and opinions about Jerry's behaviour would be divided.
- DirectorEdmund GouldingStarsGreta GarboJohn BarrymoreJoan CrawfordA group of very different individuals staying at a luxurious hotel in Berlin deal with each of their respective dramas. The movie that made me love Joan Crawford,i found the Ballerina character a bit over the top but overall it is a beautiful movie.
- DirectorHarry BeaumontStarsJoan CrawfordCliff EdwardsLester VailAfter the death of her father and loss of the family fortune, Bonnie (Joan Crawford) gets a job as a cub reporter while her brother (William Bakewell) becomes involved in bootlegging.A great portrait of the depression era extravagances : the rich people boat party with illegal alcohol seen in the first scene and the gangsters brutality showed later at a very extreme.
- DirectorHarry BeaumontStarsJoan CrawfordClark GableNeil HamiltonA Salvation Army worker recruits a suicidal cafe dancer.Another favourite of mine,Bunny is adorable and i don't find her decision unrealistic at all,her youth would not last forever so wasting that on booze and men was not a swell idea.
- DirectorFrank CapraStarsJean HarlowLoretta YoungRobert WilliamsA young woman from a very rich family impulsively marries a reporter, but each assumes the other is the one whose lifestyle must change.Very good comedy with the Cinderella man being "talked" (or sexed?) into being a Magnolia.Adorable end.
- DirectorMervyn LeRoyStarsJoan BlondellAnn DvorakBette DavisAlthough Vivian Revere is seemingly the most successful of a trio of reunited schoolmates, she throws it away by descending into a life of debauchery and drugs.A spoiled brat who has everything but wants more and the jailbird who struggles to have the basics. One can always expected the spoiled brat to spoil everything. It might be called a soapy mexican drama but i liket it : well acted, fast action and the cute baby boy
- DirectorJames WhaleStarsMae ClarkeDouglass MontgomeryDoris LloydA prostitute's self-loathing makes her reluctant to marry an idealistic soldier during World War I.I liked it more than the 19400 version, some overacting here and there from the leads but for most of the time they gave a very touching performance for this truly sad and sensitive film. The only "problem" is that i can't understand how suddenly he fell in love.

- DirectorRobert Z. LeonardStarsGreta GarboClark GableJean HersholtFleeing her cruel uncle and an arranged marriage Susan Lenox falls in love with a kind stranger but circumstances force her to become a woman of easy virtue.O enjoied all the drama, most of the situation made sense for me,people could not make wiser choices because no better options were left. And we have Garbo&Gable
- DirectorClarence BrownStarsNorma ShearerLeslie HowardLionel BarrymoreAn alcoholic lawyer who successfully defended a notorious gambler on a murder charge objects when his free-spirited daughter becomes romantically involved with him.Great Drama.I loved almost everything : The father-daughter relationship, the gambler with his strong macho aura and above all that wonderfully free Jan Ace.Shearer overacted a few times,Barrymore did the best acting and Howard managed to look like a Fresh prince even when he was supposed to be a badass
Best Line ; If you marry her you won't live to the honeymoon - DirectorVictor FlemingStarsClark GableJean HarlowGene RaymondThe owner of a rubber plantation becomes involved with the new wife of one of his employees.
