- DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstAlfred MolinaPeter Parker is beset with troubles in his failing personal life as he battles a former brilliant scientist named Otto Octavius.Spider-Man 2 is my favorite superhero film of all time and has the best villain performance I've ever seen in a superhero film, even with seeing the Dark Knight a bajillion times, Sam Raimi is a one of a kind Director, he's a genius, still to this day I've never seen a better action scene in a superhero film quite like the train sequence, I always love seeing everyday people put their lives on the line to protect their city's hero, it always brings a tear to my eyes.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity. What can I say, The Avengers is just such a fun ride from start to finish, it's an amazing achievement to see so many great actors and heroes come together onscreen and work such magic, still to this day I just can't ever seem to take my eyes off the screen every time it comes on TV.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. The Dark Knight isn't just a fantastic superhero film but it's also one of the best crime dramas ever put to screen thanks to masterful directing from Christopher Nolan and a tremendous performance from Heath Ledger as the Clown Prince, the twists and turns keep you guessing, the film also features a great villain turn by Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two Face. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain".
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsJames McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer LawrenceIn the 1960s, superpowered humans Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr work together to find others like them, but Erik's vengeful pursuit of an ambitious mutant who ruined his life causes a schism to divide them.Even though I love X2 and like Bryan Singer as a Director, Matthew Vaughn's First Class is my favorite of the X-Men franchise, it's a period film which is always a plus in my book, the film features fantastic performances from James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, a terrific villain performance from Kevin Bacon, great effects and wicked action set pieces, I will never forget being blown away by this film in the theatre.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanHalle BerryWhen anti-mutant Colonel William Stryker kidnaps Professor X and attacks his school, the X-Men must ally with their archenemy Magneto to stop him.X2 is one of those sequels that is better than its predecessor in every single way, it starts off with one of the best action scenes/openings in a superhero film when my favorite of the X-Men, Nightcrawler invades the White House and comes inches close to assassinating the President, it's one of the very few superhero films where the heroes and villains team up to fight an even greater villain, Colonel William Stryker portrayed brilliantly by Brian Cox, even though he doesn't have any powers, his mind and hate towards mutants are his greatest weapons of them all, it's a truly epic yet personal story.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Gwyneth PaltrowTerrence HowardAfter being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil. The movie that started the MCU and still to this day is one of its best if not the best offering the universe has to offer, the direction of Jon Favreau, the performance by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Ironman, and the state of the art special effects powers this movie to greatness.
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe. No one thought Marvel and Director James Gunn could pull off such an ambitious film but hell, they sure did, this movie is nonstop action and comedy, it boasts some of the best cgi ever put to film, the galaxy is so live and vibrant, another amazing achievement by Marvel and company.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansSamuel L. JacksonScarlett JohanssonAs Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.Another film where the sequel heavily outmatches the original, comedy Directors Anthony & Joe Russo masterfully combined political espionage with the superhero genre, it's also one of the best and smartest action movies put to screen, it's no surprise that the duo would 2 years later make the best superhero film of 2016 with Captain America: Civil War.
- DirectorTim MillerStarsRyan ReynoldsMorena BaccarinT.J. MillerA wisecracking mercenary gets experimented on and becomes immortal yet hideously scarred, and sets out to track down the man who ruined his looks.Fox took a big risk with Deadpool and seeing as it's their highest grossing superhero film and R rated film of all time, I think we can all agree that it paid off in a big way, thanks to the love of the source material from Director Tim Miller, Writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, and Actor Ryan Reynolds, this offbeat movie starring such an obscure character hits a high note in almost every way.
- DirectorRichard DonnerStarsChristopher ReeveMargot KidderGene HackmanAn alien orphan is sent from his dying planet to Earth, where he grows up to become his adoptive home's first and greatest superhero.Director Richard Donner and Star Christopher Reeves brought the Man of Steel to the big screen with the help of groundbreaking effects at the time, what can I say about this oldie yet goldie, it's an enjoyable film from start to finish, the comedy is on point and the actors in the film are just so charming and likeable, still to this day I love everything about this film...well, at least just about everything.
