- DirectorJayson ThiessenStarsEmily BluntKristin ChenowethLiev SchreiberAfter a dark force conquers Canterlot, the Mane 6 embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship to save their homeland. As a fan of the show, this was just a huge treat. The animation was phenomenal, the stakes were high, the new and old characters are loveable and the music is well done. I think even non-fans of the show could like this but some parts are more powerful having seen the show. 10/10
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsGerard ButlerEmmy RossumPatrick WilsonA young soprano becomes the obsession of a disfigured and murderous musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opéra House.I don't know what the critics are talking about but it sure can't be this. I adored this movie. All the characters, even the side ones, are loveable, the story is timeless and beautiful, the spectacle is astounding, the music is gorgeous and I cried quite a few times. 10/10
- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order. This movie was a breath of fresh air. While it does reuse some elements from past Star Wars films, it changes it up and does its own thing. It's refreshingly original and dark and all the characters are well developed and interesting. 10/10
- DirectorBill CondonStarsEmma WatsonDan StevensLuke EvansA selfish Prince is cursed to become a monster for the rest of his life, unless he learns to fall in love with a beautiful young woman he keeps prisoner. While Emma Watson's singing is less than spectacular, this remake is a visual spectacle, nice to listen to and makes just enough changes to keep it fresh while still staying true to the source material. 9.5/10
- DirectorJames CameronStarsLeonardo DiCaprioKate WinsletBilly ZaneA seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic. While a few things annoy me, this movie made me feel so much. The two main leads were likeable, the romance was believable to me, the visuals were convincing, the sinking scene was intense, and the ending was beautiful. And yes, I cried a lot. 9.5/10
- DirectorAlan TaylorStarsChris HemsworthNatalie PortmanTom HiddlestonWhen the Dark Elves attempt to plunge the universe into darkness, Thor must embark on a perilous and personal journey that will reunite him with doctor Jane Foster.I think this movie wins the award for the most confusing story with shapeshifting elements. But in all seriousness, this movie is awesome. 9.5/10
- DirectorDarren Lynn BousmanStarsPaul SorvinoAnthony HeadAlexa PenaVegaA worldwide epidemic encourages a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program similar in nature to a standard car loan. The repossession clause is a killer, however.I gotta say, I've never seen anything THIS out of the box! The visuals were impressive, the story was unique, the characters were likeable enough and music was awesome! My only complaint is that I wanted more. 9/10
- DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsChris HemsworthAnthony HopkinsNatalie PortmanThe powerful but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders. This was an awesome movie. The visuals and action are astounding, the story was overall great and the characters were likeable. The one downfall is that the story with Thor as the fish out of water is kind of cliche. 9.5/10
- DirectorBrian FeeStarsOwen WilsonCristela AlonzoChris CooperLightning McQueen sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he's still the best race car in the world.Wow I'm liking a lot of controversial things this year aren't I? Cars 3 is easily the best Cars movie. It was action-packed, fun, funny and surprisingly really emotional and poignant. Tears were shed but I left the theater with just a good feeling. 9/10
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.I could describe this movie in one word: AWESOME! Yes, it does start off a bit slow, but it still has the great writing and characters that I love about Marvel. 9/10
- DirectorNick MorrisLaurence ConnorStarsRamin KarimlooSierra BoggessHadley FraserA disfigured musical genius, hidden away in the Paris Opera House, terrorizes the opera company for the unwitting benefit of a young protégée whom he trains and loves. What can I say that someone else hasn't already said? Ramin and Sierra are fantastic, it's a visual and musical splendor, and beautiful in every way. 9/10
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsYôji MatsudaYuriko IshidaYûko TanakaOn a journey to find the cure for a Tatarigami's curse, Ashitaka finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and Tatara, a mining colony. In this quest he also meets San, the Mononoke Hime.I can see why this is often viewed as one of Miyazaki's greatest works! Despite being a bit too long, Princess Mononoke is creative, intense and very mature. 9/10
- DirectorChris McKayStarsWill ArnettMichael CeraRosario DawsonA cooler-than-ever Bruce Wayne must deal with the usual suspects as they plan to rule Gotham City, while discovering that he has accidentally adopted a teenage orphan who wishes to become his sidekick.Though a bit uneven and wonky, The LEGO Batman Movie is a fun, hilarious love letter to all things Batman. 9/10
- StarsTeri PoloCharles DanceBurt LancasterChristine Daaé, a talented young singer, after being discovered by the well-known playboy Comte Philippe de Chagny, is sent by her new patron to the Paris Opera to receive classical training. This is a very different version of the Phantom of The Opera story and I overall think it paid off. My main problem is how poorly cut the whole thing is. 9/10
- DirectorAdam ShankmanStarsJohn TravoltaQueen LatifahNikki BlonskyPleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show. With contagiously catchy songs, likeable characters and a deep message, Hairspray is a fun movie that made me wanna get up and dance along. 8.5/10
- DirectorBrett SullivanSimon PhillipsStarsBen LewisAnna O'ByrneMaría Mercedes10 years has passed since a fire broke out in Paris, leaving only a mask behind - As the love story continues in Coney Island, NY, The Phantom's undying love has grown for the soprano singer, Christine Daae. Christine, her 10-year-old son Gustave, and her husband Raoul, the Vicomte de Changy, travel to Coney Island where Christine is scheduled to sing for Hammerstein, but ends up singing for the mysterious Mister Y. They don't know what lies ahead. Christine and Erik confess about their past, Christine and Raoul reunite with old friends, and Christine sings for her mysterious masked man once more. While it is deeply flawed, the sequel to the famous Phantom of the Opera is still great to watch and listen to. 8.5/10
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattZoe SaldanaDave BautistaThe Guardians struggle to keep together as a team while dealing with their personal family issues, notably Star-Lord's encounter with his father, the ambitious celestial being Ego.(Don't worry, there won't be any direct spoilers here) This movie was just epic and the fact that I cried during a Guardians of the Galaxy movie should say something. 8.5/10
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe. This was a pleasant surprise. The story was really interesting, the action was really awesome, the characters were likeable and some of the comedy was pretty good. The one downfall is that the modern dialogue can be a little grating for me. 8.5/10
- DirectorChris RenaudStarsLouis C.K.Eric StonestreetKevin HartThe quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes.Everything but the predictable story was great. It was really funny, I loved all the characters and it was overall fun to watch. I never would've suspected that going in. Easily Illumination's best film. 8.5/10
- DirectorRon ClementsJohn MuskerDon HallStarsAuli'i CravalhoDwayne JohnsonRachel HouseIn ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the demigod Maui reaches Moana's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out Maui to set things right. With it's beautiful messages and animation and creative story, Moana is another one of those movies I should've seen much sooner. 8.5/10
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Gwyneth PaltrowTerrence HowardAfter being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.As someone who never really cared about Iron Man in the past, I'm pretty impressed with how they pulled this off. I was emotionally invested with the story, characters and the action and I can't wait to see where they take the rest of the Marvel movies. 8.5/10
- DirectorDwight H. LittleStarsRobert EnglundJill SchoelenAlex Hyde-WhiteA young soprano becomes the obsession of a horribly disfigured composer, who has plans for those who oppose him or the young singer. When it’s not stealing from Andrew Lloyd Webber, this movie is a really great, really intense horror film, if maybe straying a little too far from the source material. 8.5/10
- DirectorArthur LubinStarsNelson EddySusanna FosterClaude RainsAn acid-scarred composer rises from the Paris sewers to boost his favorite opera understudy's career.I was surprised this movie is as good as it is. It's a very good version of the Phantom's origin story and surprisingly has a lot of charm, originality and character. 8/10
- DirectorSteve MartinoStarsNoah SchnappBill MelendezHadley Belle MillerSnoopy embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their archnemesis, while his best pal Charlie Brown begins his own epic quest back home to win the love of his life.I grew up with Charlie Brown so obviously, I ate this up, though not quite as much as everyone else. This felt so much like a classic episode of Peanuts with fantastic new animation and actors. However, it seemed to rely a little too much on references. 8/10
- DirectorCharlie BeanPaul FisherBob LoganStarsJackie ChanDave FrancoFred ArmisenShunned by everyone for being the son of an evil warlord, a teenager seeks to defeat him with the help of his fellow ninjas.(I saw this on New Year's Eve my time, so it counts) This was a fun time. I know it's not accurate to the show (according to my brother) but it's still funny and has some emotional moments. 7.5/10
- DirectorFrank OzStarsRick MoranisEllen GreeneVincent GardeniaA nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. This film can go join some of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. However, being strange and out of the box is a good thing in my book so I greatly enjoyed this! The music was also very well done. 7.5/10
- DirectorJerome RobbinsRobert WiseStarsNatalie WoodGeorge ChakirisRichard BeymerTwo youngsters from rival New York City gangs fall in love, but tensions between their respective friends build toward tragedy. The underdeveloped romance naturally grinded my gears but it got better and the story was still engaging enough to keep me engaged. Also, the music is really awesome. 7.5/10
- DirectorKenny OrtegaStarsBette MidlerSarah Jessica ParkerKathy NajimyA teenage boy named Max and his little sister move to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century. While definitely dated, Hocus Pocus is a charming little film with a fun story and likeable characters. 7.5/10
- DirectorJeff CalhounBrett SullivanStarsJeremy JordanKara LindsayBen FankhauserFilmed live on stage at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, CA, this is a not-to-be-missed high energy show starring Original Broadway cast members. This movie definitely has cliches but the fun music, interesting story, and likeable characters make up for it. 7.5/10
- DirectorKelly AsburyStarsDemi LovatoRainn WilsonJoe ManganielloA mysterious map sets Smurfette and her friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, leading to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history.Another pleasant surprise of this year! Seriously, is this a running theme or something? Anyways, Smurfs The Lost Village was very funny, engaging and well-animated. It is undoubtedly tied with Surf's Up for Sony Animation's best movie. 7.5/10
- DirectorJoe JohnstonStarsChris EvansHugo WeavingSamuel L. JacksonSteve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a warmonger and a terrorist organization. This was cool and action-packed but far from the best superhero movie. The only negative thing was the Red Skull's cheap design. However, I was also very impressed that they took this story as seriously as they did. 7/10
- DirectorTerence FisherStarsHerbert LomHeather SearsEdward de SouzaAn acid-scarred composer has his dwarf helper bring an opera singer to his London sewer hide-out.I really like the mystery aspect of this movie and it was paced really well. The romance was also a really cute subplot and there were some good characters. However, the Phantom's character was poorly done and the ending was so rushed which really dragged this movie down for me. 7/10
- DirectorWeibang Ma-XuStarsMenghe GuPing HuShan JinChina's first horror film, this is loosely based on The Phantom of the Opera. A disfigured musical genius roams a traditional Chinese opera house, punishing those who offend him. While a little slow in the beginning and maybe hard to follow at times, Song at Midnight really picks up and becomes a very good, albeit loose, adaptation of Phantom of the Opera. 7/10
- DirectorRupert JulianLon ChaneyErnst LaemmleStarsLon ChaneyMary PhilbinNorman KerryA mad, disfigured composer seeks love with a lovely young opera singer. An impressive, iconic film at the time is now a touch dated but still a competent movie and well done adaptation of the famous story of The Phantom of The Opera. 7/10
- DirectorPatty JenkinsStarsGal GadotChris PineRobin WrightWhen a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.Wonder Woman herself is badass and the story is interesting and easy to follow. Certainly better than Man of Steel. 7/10
- DirectorJames WhaleStarsClaude RainsGloria StuartWilliam HarriganA scientist finds a way of becoming invisible, but in doing so, he becomes murderously insane.Pretty funny movie and Claude Rains was very enjoyable here. 7/10
- DirectorTom OwensStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerCraig FergusonHiccup and Toothless discover an island of never-before-seen dragons.Cute short, but nothing all that special. 7/10
- DirectorShane BlackStarsRobert Downey Jr.Guy PearceGwyneth PaltrowWhen Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution. For what it was, this movie was pretty good but it's far from the best MCU movie. 7/10
- DirectorFrederik Du ChauStarsJessalyn GilsigCary ElwesAndrea CorrAn adventurous girl, a young blind hermit, and a goofy two-headed dragon race to find the lost sword Excalibur to save King Arthur and Camelot from disaster.Charming and fun but definitely has it's fair share of problems. 7/10
- DirectorGeorge C. WolfeStarsRenée Elise GoldsberrySylvia Grace CrimReed BirneyAn African-American woman becomes an unwitting pioneer for medical breakthroughs when her cells are used to create the first immortal human cell line in the early 1950s.This is a fairly decent film and impressive for a TV movie. I also appreciate that the more emotional side of a scientific story is explored, we don't see that often. 7/10
- DirectorRobert MarkowitzStarsMaximilian SchellJane SeymourMichael YorkThe Budapest Opera House's diva commits suicide after the owner ruins her career for having rejected his advances but her conductor-husband, believed killed in a fire, plans his revenge on all those he deems responsible for her suicide. Not the best but some aspects of this film are very first rate. 6.5/10
- DirectorChris WedgeStarsAmanda SeyfriedJosh HutchersonBeyoncéA teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and evil is taking place. She bands together with a ragtag group of characters to save their world--and ours. This is a fun movie but there's nothing really memorable or unique about it to make it stand out. 6.5/10
- DirectorRoberto BenigniStarsRoberto BenigniNicoletta BraschiGiorgio CantariniWhen an open-minded Jewish waiter and his son become victims of the Holocaust, he uses a perfect mixture of will, humor and imagination to protect his son from the dangers around their camp. The turn this movie took in the middle was really jarring and kind of makes a lot of the first half unnecessary. However, I would be lying if I wasn't engaged by the second half and maybe smiled a bit at the very end. 6.5/10
- DirectorNicholas StollerDoug SweetlandStarsAndy SambergKatie CrownKelsey GrammerStorks have moved on from delivering babies to packages. But when an order for a baby appears, the best delivery stork must scramble to fix the error by delivering the baby.Main characters and their friendship (emphasis on ship) and some of the comedy were good but the rest was just okay. 6/10
- DirectorDelaney RustonScreenagers explores parental struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction and offers solutions to help kids find balance. While it may seem stereotypical, Screenagers is an informative documentary for all ages. The reason it's low is cuz I don't care for documentaries XD. 6/10
- DirectorRobert MulliganStarsGregory PeckJohn MegnaFrank OvertonAtticus Finch, a widowed lawyer in Depression-era Alabama, defends a Black man against an undeserved rape charge, and tries to educate his young children against prejudice. This movie frustrates me. It had elements that were interesting, engaging and even original but it loses any chance to expand on those elements by focusing on the kids. 5.5/10
- DirectorDarwin KnightStarsJames BaldwinDarin De PaulAlexandra KinterFrance, 1900. As a young girl, Christine is told by her father of the 'Spirit of the Music' - a guardian angel who comes to a select few with the gift of 'perfect music'. Ten years later, Christine - now a promising singer at the Paris Opera House - is finally visited by the "Spirit" of her father's story, who promises to give her the greatest voice the world has ever known. Meanwhile, a series of increasingly bizarre accidents terrify the Opera's cast and staff, attributed to a legendary Phantom who supposedly haunts the theater. When these strange events eventually scare the company's prima donna away, it's up to Christine to take her part. After her debut, the Spirit of Music whisks Christine away into his realm behind the mirror, where it is revealed that both Spirit and Phantom are in fact one and the same - not a supernatural creature, but a man, Erik. A musical prodigy who hides his horribly disfigured face under a mask, Erik believes Christine to be his match in perfect music, and thus plans to keep her in his underworld forever. Raoul, Christine's childhood sweetheart, aided by a mysterious Persian detective, ventures into the dark catacombs beneath the Opera House to rescue her from the Phantom's clutch. This version of the classic story mostly bored me with it's poorly handled story, bland music and cheap comedy. However, there were some good things scattered throughout, at least making it better than the animated version. 5.5/10
- DirectorTom McGrathStarsAlec BaldwinSteve BuscemiJimmy KimmelA suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying baby pairs up with his 7-year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co.This movie was so stupid but at least there were a few laughs and some okay ideas. 5/10
- DirectorTerry GilliamTerry JonesStarsGraham ChapmanJohn CleeseEric IdleKing Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table embark on a surreal, low-budget search for the Holy Grail, encountering many, very silly obstacles. This movie barely gave me a reaction honestly but at least I could somewhat follow it. 5/10
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy. While it had some good ideas, Iron Man 2 is underwhelming, goes nowhere and is overall pointless. It's barely passable and overall disappointing. 5/10
- DirectorAl GuestJean MathiesonStarsAiden GrennellCollette ProctorDaniel ReardonAn animated version of Gaston Leroux's everlasting tale of "The Phantom of the Opera". Christine has been acting strange the last days: she first of all got the lead part on a new opera and she's arrogant with people. A masked Phantom lurking in the shadows is haunting her, keeping her away from other men, striking revenge on the world above, but he also has a good side, a side that was tortured since childhood.I appreciate the attempt to follow the book but the animation was extremely distracting and the characters are really bland. Overall, I didn't hate it but it didn't give me much of a reaction aside from confusion and maybe a chuckle here or there. 4.5/10
- DirectorBrian HelgelandStarsChadwick BosemanT.R. KnightHarrison FordIn 1947, Jackie Robinson becomes the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers and faces considerable racism in the process. This story and moral are so overdone and it adds nothing new. This is basically Remember the Titans with baseball. What saves it from being worse are Harrison Ford as Rickey and a fairly engaging side romance. 4/10
- DirectorDavid MalletStarsElaine PaigeJohn MillsKen Page"Jellicle" cats join for a Jellicle ball where they rejoice with their leader, Old Deuteronomy. One cat will be chosen to go to the "Heavyside Layer" and be reborn. The cats introduce themselves.I'm probably gonna get some hate for this but I just don't like this musical. The characters are boring, the story is poorly executed and the songs, except for the famous "Memory", are just bland and boring exposition. I can't call it bad, since it does have some decent visuals and instrumentals to the songs, but I can call it boring. 4/10
- DirectorDavid SorenStarsKevin HartThomas MiddleditchEd HelmsTwo overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold hypnotize their grumpy principal into thinking he's a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants.Annoying, stupid and incredibly juvenile but then again, what do you expect? 3.5/10
- DirectorRandal KleiserStarsJohn TravoltaOlivia Newton-JohnStockard ChanningGood girl Sandy Olsson and greaser Danny Zuko fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they're now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?I tried so hard to find something to like about this movie, I really did but there was almost nothing. The story is spastic and moves in completely random directions, the characters are bland and uninteresting, the romance is inconsistent and bland, and many of the songs are either forgettable or pointless. Also, the ending and moral are abysmal and insulting to me. However, to its credit, a few of the songs are pretty decent. 2.5/10
- DirectorGreydon ClarkStarsRobert EnglundMichelle ZeitlinMarianna MoenA dance instructor brings his dance troupe to Russia for training. What his dancers don't know, however, is that he has a dual personality, and his hidden personality is a serial killer.A low-budget piece of crap film with no semblance of logic or any knowledge of how to use an editing software or a brain. 1/10
- DirectorVanesa BinztokSebastián Molina MerajverStarsValentina GonzálezGonzalo López MeneseGabriela Marcjeto de MalufI accidentally added this and don't know how to take it off with IMDB's stupid new layout. I have not seen this movie so just ignore it.
