- DirectorHoward HawksStarsKatharine HepburnCary GrantCharles RugglesWhile trying to secure a $1 million donation for his museum, a befuddled paleontologist is pursued by a flighty and often irritating heiress and her pet leopard, Baby. One of the best comedies of its time
"Bringing Up Baby (1938) is one of versatile director Howard Hawks' greatest screwball comedies and often considered the definitive screwball film. It is also one of the funniest, wackiest and most inspired films of all time with its characteristic breathless pace, zany antics and pratfalls, absurd situations and misunderstandings, perfect sense of comic timing, completely screwball cast, series of lunatic and hare-brained misadventures, disasters, light-hearted surprises and romantic comedy. The non-stop, harum-scarum farce skewered many institutions, including psychiatry, the sterile field of science, the police, and high-society upper classes." - Tim Dirks (Filmisite's 100 Greatest Films)
9/10 - DirectorVictor FlemingGeorge CukorSam WoodStarsClark GableVivien LeighThomas MitchellA sheltered and manipulative Southern belle and a roguish profiteer face off in a turbulent romance as the society around them crumbles with the end of slavery and is rebuilt during the Civil War and Reconstruction periods.I have to read the book
It is almost unbelievable that this movie was made in the '30s and even now, 80 years later, it is not a bit outdated. It has a beautiful, well-written story and the amazing cast that brought it to life. It is technically and essentially brilliant and when it finished I had the urge to watch it all over again immediately. The only thing that stopped me was lack of time, because this masterpiece lasts for full four hours. And the people say the book is better. I definitely must read that.
10/10 - DirectorGeorge CukorStarsCary GrantKatharine HepburnJames StewartWhen a rich woman's ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned remarriage, she begins to learn the truth about herself.Sophisticated romantic screwball
Part screwball, part romantic comedy from the forties. Love triangle starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart. It simply can not fail. One of my all-time favorites.
9/10 - DirectorPreston SturgesStarsBarbara StanwyckHenry FondaCharles CoburnA trio of classy card sharks targets a socially awkward brewery heir, until one of them falls in love with him.Deception
The snake in this movie isn't a snake at all. It's just a legless lizard. Otherwise, I have no objections. Preston Sturges assembled a great cast and turned this well-written story into a true masterpiece of romantic comedy. Intelligent, witty and heartwarming.
9/10 - DirectorElia KazanStarsVivien LeighMarlon BrandoKim HunterDisturbed Blanche DuBois moves in with her sister in New Orleans and is tormented by her brutish brother-in-law while her reality crumbles around her."Straight? What's 'straight'? A line can be straight, or a street. But the heart of a human being?"
For two hours I desired to jump into the screen and strangle one of my favorite actresses. I think Vivien Leigh was bit kook, because something like this cannot be completely faked. One of the most deserved Oscars I have ever seen. All four leading actors were nominated and only Brando didn't win it. I consider him one of the greatest actors of all time and his performance here definitely is on the level with Leigh, Karl Malden, and Kim Hunter. I'm most sorry that Tennessee Williams didn't win the Oscar for the screenplay, because a story of this depth and strength is rarely seen in movies. Mandatory for all film lovers.
9/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsJames StewartKim NovakBarbara Bel GeddesA former San Francisco police detective juggles wrestling with his personal demons and becoming obsessed with the hauntingly beautiful woman he has been hired to trail, who may be deeply disturbed. This time I'm really speechless...
10/10 - CreatorDavid LevyStarsJohn AstinCarolyn JonesJackie CooganThe misadventures of a blissfully macabre but extremely loving family.Snap your fingers and enjoy the show
Two seasons of this black and white sitcom, totaling 64 episodes, are one of my favorite childhood memories. Perfect casting, perfect morbid-comic atmosphere, brilliant dialogues and replicas, and seductive Carolyn Jones. An unforgettable experience, partly because it's so good, and partly because I can't forget something that I rewatch every couple of years.
9/10 - DirectorStanley KubrickStarsMalcolm McDowellPatrick MageeMichael BatesIn the future, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment, but it doesn't go as planned."What we were after now was the old surprise visit. That was a real kick and good for laughs and lashings of the old ultraviolent."
Every single aspect of this movie is perfect and they are all perfectly integrated into a perfect whole. Without a doubt one of the best films of all time. If you rate this movie anything less than a maximum rating, I have nothing to discuss with you about movies in general.
10/10 - DirectorMilos FormanStarsJack NicholsonLouise FletcherMichael BerrymanIn the Fall of 1963, a Korean War veteran and criminal pleads insanity and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rallies up the scared patients against the tyrannical nurse.Masterpiece
One of the best movies of all times. Fact that it has won Oscar against "Jaws" and "Nashville" does not say much, because I have no idea how those two got nominated at all (first one being just average and second one being the very most boring movie I ever saw in my life), but it would win it against almost any movie in history anyway. Every role in this movie deserves an Academy Award.
10/10 - DirectorJohn HustonStarsSean ConneryMichael CaineChristopher PlummerIn 1880s India, two former British soldiers decide to set themselves up as Kings in Kafiristan, a land where no white man has set foot since Alexander the Great."Adventure in all its glory"
This is one of my favorite movies. Two crooks and adventurers, former English soldiers and members of Masonic lodge, travel from India to Kafiristan, where Europeans have not been seen since Alexander the Great, to conquer and become kings. Adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's novel with Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer.

AvildsenStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungA small-time Philadelphia boxer gets a supremely rare chance to fight the world heavyweight champion in a bout in which he strives to go the distance for his self-respect."You're gonna eat lightning and you're gonna shit thunder."
15 November 2016
I do not have a high opinion about Sylvester, but the movie that he wrote and played the main role in really is one of the greatest movies of all time. The story, acting, directing and music, all together gradually build a tense atmosphere that will make even people who do not like either Stallone or boxing sit at the edge of their seats and cheer from the top of their voice. Masterpiece.
10/10 - DirectorMichael CiminoStarsRobert De NiroChristopher WalkenJohn CazaleAn in-depth examination of the ways in which the Vietnam War impacts and disrupts the lives of several friends in a small steel mill town in Pennsylvania."One shot is what it's all about"
A brief analysis of this film, if at all possible, would be blasphemy. If I start writing about this masterpiece, it could take days. So I'll just say - perfection. Supreme cast in one of the best films of all time. It has won five Oscars, but one should be given to everyone who participated in its creation. If you have not seen this (at least several times), hurry before someone finds out.
10/10 - DirectorTinto BrassStarsMalcolm McDowellPeter O'TooleHelen MirrenA dramatization of the ascent to Caesar and subsequent reign of Caligula, one of the most notorious leaders of ancient Rome. We see his ambition, his scheming, his perversion and decadence, his brutality and his lunacy. The most expensive pornographic film ever made - $22 million
"Critical and commercial disaster."
"Worthless fantasy trash."
The film is full of explicit sex but it does not make it pornography. Pornography has completely different intentions. Definition of pornography is: "Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual arousal", and this movie simply isn't it. It was meant to shock, not to sexually arouse. The story is a historical drama presented in a vulgar and shocking way with explicit sex and violence. But it definitely isn't pornography.
Worthless trash?! I suppose it is a question of taste. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It twists actual historical facts, but it is a movie, not the history textbook. And parody on "Alea iacta est!" is so funny. For me, this is a really good movie, at least

10/10 - CreatorDavid CroftJeremy LloydStarsGorden KayeCarmen SilveraVicki MichelleIn France during World War II, René Artois runs a small café where Resistance fighters, Gestapo men, German Army officers and escaped Allied POWs interact daily, ignorant of one another's true identity or presence, exasperating René."Listen carefully, I shall say this only once"
During WWII, Rene Artois and his wife Edith run a café where members of the Gestapo and French Resistance pass by each other daily, which, combined with Rene's adultery, provides an inexhaustible source of entertainment. Excellent script, character diversity, brilliant comedians, extremely witty dialogues and catchy replicas that will be remembered forever, make "Allo Allo!" one of the best sitcoms of all time. Many of us have watched a bunch of random episodes when it was run on TV, but watching this show in its entirety in a period as short as possible is a phenomenal experience that I gladly return to every few years.

- DirectorJovan AcinStarsGala VidenovicRelja BasicNebojsa BakocevicIn 1985, four middle-aged Yugoslav emigres return to Belgrade for the funeral of Mariana, their beautiful compatriot. They called her Esther, for Esther Williams, she was the coxswain for their four-man rowing team, and they each loved her. They'd last seen her in 1953, when they rowed her across the Adriatic, pregnant, to join her exiled father in Italy. In flashbacks we learn the story of their youthful baptism into sex, smoking, rock and roll (Hey Ba-ba-re-bop), Hollywood and Swedish films, blue jeans on the black market, and their rivalry with Ristic, the Communist Party youth leader for whom they had instant antipathy.U top 10 mojih omiljenih domaćih filmova. Previše sam pristrasan da sudim o objektivnom kvalitetu, ali u ovom slučaju to mi nije ni važno. Gledao sam ga nebrojeno puta i ponoviću ga još toliko, jer se ovakva emocija retko sreće.
9/10 - DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsRobin WilliamsForest WhitakerTom T. TranIn 1965, an unorthodox and irreverent DJ named Adrian Cronauer begins to shake up things when he is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam.Robin Williams... what more can you ask for...
For this role, Robin Williams was nominated for an Oscar and it's a shame he didn't get it. It's hard to say if this was the role of his career because he nailed literally every role he ever played and he was one of the best comedians and actors of all time. Beside this nomination, both Robin and Forest Whitaker got a bunch of other awards, completely deserved. In my opinion, this movie deserves to be considered one of the best movies in the history of cinema.
10/10 - DirectorJohn WatersStarsJohnny DeppRicki LakeAmy LocaneIn 1950s Baltimore, a bad boy with a heart of gold wins the love of a good girl, whose boyfriend sets out for revenge. There's nothing the matter with my face. I got character!
I wanted to see this movie because of Johnny Depp, but when I realized it was made by the author of the unwatchable "Pink Flamingos" I almost gave up. Fortunately, these two movies have nothing else in common. "Cry-Baby" is comedy musical that parodies movies about juvenile delinquency and teens in the fifties, like "Grease" or "Rebel Without a Cause". It has an entertaining story, great music, and choreography, and well-developed characters, played by charismatic actors, among which are Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, Tracy Lords, and Willem Dafoe. A film that will never get old.
10/10 - DirectorMarc CaroJean-Pierre JeunetStarsMarie-Laure DougnacDominique PinonPascal BenezechPost-apocalyptic surrealist black comedy about the landlord of an apartment building who occasionally prepares a delicacy for his odd tenants.Beautiful madness
12 February 2017
I have no idea what to say about this movie. It's rare, but it happens. It left me speechless. IMDb says post-apocalyptic surreal black comedy. It is. And also romance, drama, and horror. One of the very strangest and most original pieces of cinematography I have ever seen. If you are not too lazy to read long reviews, I recommend an excellent one written by The_Void. Anyway, if you liked "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "Four Rooms" or "Sweeney Todd" you'll love this one too. It's a must-watch piece of madness. I'm stunned. Loved it.
9/10 - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsDustin HoffmanRobin WilliamsJulia RobertsWhen Captain James Hook kidnaps his children, an adult Peter Pan must return to Neverland and reclaim his youthful spirit in order to challenge his old enemy.Robin Williams, an efficient antidepressant with no side effects
Classic fairytale is presented from a different angle, sending us a message that even if growing up is necessary, we must not completely repress our inner child. Interesting adventure, lots of fun and laughs, a bit of drama and tears and a whole lot of emotions. Great performances, especially by Williams and Hoffman, and beautiful beautiful music. All-times classic.
9/10 - DirectorSrdjan DragojevicStarsNikola KojoMilena PavlovicBranka KaticAngel and the devil fight for the soul of a Belgrade playboy who made a young girl pregnant. At the very top of Serbian cinema. In my opinion, only "Lepa sela lepo gore" can compete with "Angels". Of course, I'm talking about Serbian, not Yugoslav film. Movies made from World War II until the breakup of Yugoslavia are completely different category and I think that these two periods can not be ranked together at all.
10/10 - DirectorJennifer LynchStarsJulian SandsSherilyn FennBill PaxtonA surgeon becomes obsessed with the seductive woman he once was in an affair with. Refusing to accept that she has moved on, he amputates her limbs and holds her captive in his mansion.Am I disturbed for loving this movie?
As a teenager, I caught this movie partially on TV, and, not knowing its name, for years I was searching for it to watch it properly. A few years ago I accidentally bumped into it on some list of the most controversial films of all time, recognized it, and finally got it. The years of waiting paid off - I was thrilled.
I do not want to go into the particular story because I can not do it without spoilers. I will only say that this is convincingly the most morbid love drama I've ever seen, which at the same time provokes fascination and repulsion. In some instances I was sympathetic with the psychopath, in the other with the victim, while at the moments I was wondering who was actually crazier. The first choice for the role of Helena was Madonna, but the contract was then signed with Kim Basinger. Kim gave up in the last minute, she was sued for nine million dollars, and the leading role went to fantastic Sherilyn Fenn, who perfectly portrayed the role of an arrogant "ice-queen", so cold-blooded that even in this extreme situation I could not unreservedly sympathize with her. Maybe I'm too subjective, because of her role in the series "Twin Peaks" and my fascination with this film, but I really think that with Kim this would be a complete failure.
Something disturbed like this can not come from a normal mind. As apple does not fall far from the tree, it is hardly surprising that the script was written by the then nineteen-year-old daughter of David Lynch. A few years later, Jennifer directed the film and won Razzie Award for the Worst Director. Besides the award for the worst directing, there is a rating of 4.6 on IMDb, Metascore 26 and 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. But when you put it all on one pan of scales, and then Sherilyn Fenn climbs on the other side...
9/10 - DirectorChris ColumbusStarsRobin WilliamsSally FieldPierce BrosnanAfter a bitter divorce, an actor disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children held in custody by his former wife.Movie you simply have to love
One of my favorite childhood movies. It won Oscar for make-up and Robin got Golden Globe. One of the best and most fun actors ever in one of his best achievements. IMDb rating is shameful. I watched this masterpiece countless times and every time I laugh like madman regardless that I know it by heart and every time it brings tears in my eyes at the end. Beautiful beyond any description.
