Not-Too-Bad Films to Absolute Stinkers
Why were these movies made and why did I watch them? That is an unanswerable question. I WAS fascinated by some of the movies because the filmmakers obviously took themselves seriously while creating such films, and a few of the movies did have entertaining, over-the-top appalling scenes or actors, usually both. But most of the movies listed here I just was unable to appreciate for one reason or several - became bored with, tried to but was unable to become interested in, found a "serious drama" comical, and so forth. But then, there are those films that surpass that boundary of decency (I am not referring to pornography, a subject that would best be discussed elsewhere), the GLORIFICATION of the dehumanization, brutalization, racism, etc., of humanity, which I do not tolerate in any medium. As a perfect example, "Birth of a Nation" while it may be considered by many to be a classic landmark film, I do not. I was horrified when I saw it and call it racist trash. I understand that old films may require the use of historical perspective. However, research shows that the film was considered racist and offended many at the time of its original release. The same reasonings as to why I despise similar TV shows of today are listed here. I am amazed by the continued bad taste of Hollywood, and the television medium's generally harmful (and in poor taste) pandering to the baser nature of our population.
